Gerrard be mad to take the job if offered and it be mad to even offer it to him.
They canβt do anything till jan and need to start getting points on the board.

9th October 2021 at 9:09 am #186301Just reading young blood post on Chelsea page. Some good comments.
I think Chelsea will be the most happy so far. Such tough fixtures and are top.
Utd should have more points. In my opinion all their games were winnable . Yet to play any of the so called bigger sides.
City have had some tough games aswell
Liverpool just look to open in midfield. Conceding to many chances and needed to winning home games v the bigger teams. Still donβt think we will challenge. Not the worst set of fixtures. Still unbeaten but we just donβt look solid.

9th October 2021 at 10:03 am #186302Newcastle wonβt be doing what Chelsea and Man City did in 2003 and 2008. There will be far too many eyes on them, pouring over their yearly accounts for that to happen. Plus you got all these spending rules whichever way they going to move. They probably will gradually build up the squad maybe winning an odd cup here and there, obviously in the longer term they will have to become a force.

9th October 2021 at 10:27 am #186303Ye Newcastle hands are tied a bit rover. As you say all eyes be on them and is fffp still operating?
So they just canβt go out and spent 100 net in jan?

9th October 2021 at 10:49 am #186304I’ve not posted here for some time but I do occasionally pop in for a read but I feel I must congratulate chucky on some brilliant posting. Absolutely spot on. It’s very disappointing that the FA have a fit and proper test regarding owners and their financial status but don’t give a damn about the human rights side of things.

9th October 2021 at 11:14 am #186305Sean, they could probably spend 200m in January bud FFP not applicable at the moment and when it is it is based over 3 year period and they in the black right now which gives plenty of time for creative accounting and inflated sponsorships.
Even if they get sanctioned will likely just be fines in short term like Man City and if banned from Europe Court of arbitration for sport already sided in cities favour on that one. I may be ignorant of a few things here so open to corrections.
Make no mistake bud, it’s a top 5 in very near future. Chelsea were already in top 4 when Roman bought them,City weren’t, but it makes no difference because money talks.

9th October 2021 at 11:20 am #186306To be fair the only reason they probably won’t spend massive in January is because its January but this summer will be mental and I think net spend will be higher than 200m.
Barca will be praying they get some of it π

9th October 2021 at 12:10 pm #186307FFP is not applicable under UEFA but PL FFP rules are still in place Lucky. From what I’ve read and I’m not sure of its accuracy Newcastle could spend Β£200m in a season and not fall foul of the PL’s FFP rules.
The whole thing will take time imo Newcastle aren’t going to be able to sign someone like Haaland for instance in the Summer because so many top Clubs will be in for him and that will be reflected across other top players too certainly initially.
Their first job is to get the right Manager in Conte would be ideal but I’m not sure they would be able to convince him to come. It’s a project, there’s a certain amount of uncertainty that surrounds it all and Newcastle will still be an outpost.
But money talks and if Newcastle are well run and the right decisions are taken over time they should get there and be challenging for the top 4 and trophies.

9th October 2021 at 1:50 pm #186309I doubt there are too many on here who aren’t uneasy with the new ownership of Newcastle United I suspect there are even Newcastle fans who are uneasy with it.
There’s a hole in the PL’s fit and proper person rules that’s allowed this to happen but it’s not possible to plug holes in the rules retrospectively so we are where we are now.
The PL need to review their current fit and proper person rules now but you can’t shut the gate once the horse has bolted which is why I’ve personally chosen to concentrate on just the football issues.

9th October 2021 at 4:45 pm #186310Let’s hope the Newcastle goalie doesn’t make any errors….stoned at the very least!
And there will be a spate of stupid jokes like that ._____________________________

9th October 2021 at 6:39 pm #186314Nine, @ 13:50, I’m with you on your opening para mate.
I’ve read Chucks’ whole stance on this and respect it. Through a number of sites including this one and with relatively the same group of posters for over a decade (which I do value wholeheartedly in experience), we’ve talked disparity, and a level playing field, plus transfer fees and wages.
The truth of the matter one would have to say that if your own club is benefitting from fortune, then as a supporter, you’re going to reap all the goodness that comes from it – whether morally right or wrong.
I empathize with despair shown from fans who can’t compete in those areas where it’s effectively essential in modern day football. What is evident in most recent years is the level of competitiveness increased on the football field and football results unpredictable which is encouraging and no Team of that ilk of wealth is immune from any defeat on the pitch.

9th October 2021 at 7:24 pm #186320You are right Nine, we should concentrate on what happens on the field. We, as fans cannot change anything, the FA will do as they are told. If you look at the re shaped football in this country it is now in the hands of TV, betting Companies, Alcohol etc and yes Middle East, Russian, Chinese and USA investment, Like it or not, that is the status and it is not going to change any time soon……anything but local benefactors , if there are any in the UK. You have to admire the teams that get by with good management and limited resources

10th October 2021 at 11:22 am #186347Missing football, but just need to get over another week. It was a lovely sunny day yesterday and whilst I was at work, I was thinking 4:30 and Final Score.
What we take for granted then think about it when we miss it.

11th October 2021 at 7:23 am #186385Have to agree, sort of, with Double B there, it would be most convineint for a lot of people/regimes to simply sweep everything we don’t like under the carpet and pretend it doesn’t exist, wouldn’t it?

11th October 2021 at 6:32 pm #186445Chuky…I would also add….it was not that long ago when working conditions here were disgraceful…with our own masters, be it Agriculture, Steel, Coal and the memories of babies under travelling Mule frames in cotton mills..less than 100 yrs ago. Then again how far do we all want to go back into slaves…Vikings, Romans? Germans tried twice and failed. We have not always been the aggressors/opportunist. Time changes everything as we are experiencing…..back to football now

11th October 2021 at 6:37 pm #186446I am looking forward to a normal football week end again, hopefully not many teams will pick up injuries and the battle continues. I wonder what Newcastle players are thinking? I feel a bit sorry for Bruce, everybody and his dog saying he will be sacked to morrow, he must not like the thought of going to work. The guy is not THAT bad considering what he has had to work with/without

11th October 2021 at 7:34 pm #186447I like Bruce Brian. Honest and decent man. His ties to Sunderland did him no favours. Heβs never been wanted from the start. He did a decent job in his first two seasons.
Heβs ever going to win over the fans and be gone before Friday_____________________________

11th October 2021 at 8:24 pm #186450Newcastle was a tough gig for Bruce from the start for all sorts of reasons.
He was never going to survive a takeover but the Β£8m compensation will soften the blow.
