I hope Salah is not out injured for long as that was a shocking tackle. Cynical of the highest order and just took the man with on intention of playing the ball
Salah is injured now. Yellow wasn’t sufficient when you play the man

5th October 2019 at 5:58 pm #49446Sean. I was thinking of this season.
You have played three games before us and we one before you. Not that it really matters!West Ham v Palace not very inspiring so far!

5th October 2019 at 6:53 pm #49453AnonymousAgreed Sean, it was a red card offense. Surprised that VAR didnt at least check it.

5th October 2019 at 7:06 pm #49454Mak, this “red card offence” I haven’t seen any footy today, did the ref show a yellow card? If so I don’t think VAR can be used…..Pagan

5th October 2019 at 7:46 pm #49458Pagan, by the letter of the law it’s not a red card mate but maybe it should be looked at. He clearly went for salah and not the ball so was a cynical tackle
Lucky, agree about taa. They really could have went either way. I’m not sure he meant but he got his Achilles and the mall was a bit awAy

5th October 2019 at 8:57 pm #49462AnonymousDid they remove the tackle from behind rule? If not then that’s a red for me but I think they may have removed it. I haven’t heard it used in years. Regardless of the rules though, a player should be sent off for that offense. So ya, if the rules don’t cover it, they need to change them. you cant have players deliberately injuring other players without even trying to go for the ball.
the ref did show a yellow but I think VAR can still check it for a red card offense no? Interesting if it’s a situation where they can’t. also incredibly stupid if so.

5th October 2019 at 9:01 pm #49463Mak, my understanding, and it may it be correct, is that VAR can only check red cards, either after it’s been shown, or if the ref asks to see the incident prior to making a decision. If the ref issues a yellow straight away then it can’t be reviewed….Pagan

6th October 2019 at 4:42 am #49475I’ve seen a yellow changed to a red a few times this season after the referee reviewed it himself on a TV monitor but the games I watched were outside England. Maybe that is the difference, not VAR but the referee himself after VAR encouraged it.

6th October 2019 at 6:11 am #49477Can’t understand Spurs too much cause if you look at the side it’s a top class team even though at the back you have a couple of overated players who I assume have now been found out, while an average player like Dier can never make a difference for this type of implosion, I feel a bit for Spurs fans as most of them are decent lot.

6th October 2019 at 8:46 am #49479Looking forward to the Chelsea game. Should be a decent game as both teams will have a go.
Going by form the utd Game might not be the most exciting.
Newcastle are really poor to watch and utd really aren’t much better.
City will win easily enough.

6th October 2019 at 8:48 am #49480Silva is in serious trouble. Everton just keep losing games.
Brilliant win for win. Some good goals in that game.
International week after today which is painful

6th October 2019 at 8:53 am #49481I don’t want yo seen to be having a dig at utd but ole is going on about blooding youngster but are any of them any use?
Bit of fuss over greenwood and looks raw but decent. Chong and Gomes I’m. Im not sure there.
You look st mount, Tomori , James and saka off arsenal and you can see already they have some talent.
Just an observation

6th October 2019 at 9:34 am #49483Greenwood has only just turned 18 Sean. He looks a very promising prospect but is, as you say, still very raw. He has a very good goalscoring record and is almost completely two footed. Crazy to be relying on him at this age though. He probably needs to go out on loan.
Most of the other players you mention are 20-22 and weren’t pulling up trees at 17/18 either. The likelihood of him becoming a superstar is still very slim, as so many don’t fulfil their early promise but he has all the attributes to give him a good chance of making it.
Chong and Gomes much the same. Too early to say but they’re not ready to be relied upon just yet and it’s crazy that they’re starting games. Mount, Abraham, Tomori for example, are all in their early 20s,not their late teens like our lot. Way too early IMO to be starting these kids.
Ole is a dead man walking so the blooding youth thing is all he has left to hang on to. Fully expect a defeat today and I think, just like with Mourinho, a defeat to Liverpool in our next game, will seal his fate.

6th October 2019 at 10:09 am #49484I think the Editor is right, Ole has gone from a Messiah to a MessUpa. He is indeed dead man walking and will be gone by Christmas with possibly Allegri taking over with an immediate transfer window. Whatever happens I’ll be impressed if they finish top half never mind top4. It’s a race between then and the Spuds to see who can finish the lowest.

6th October 2019 at 10:32 am #49487Ed fair points mate.
I can’t see utd losing today. Newcastle have absolutely nothing going forward..
They are the worst team I’ve watched this season. They can’t keep the ball ay all
Liveroool should be strong favourites going to utd but we won’t win. We have won once in 5 years there. We never turn up like last season and utd up their game.
Salah never s shows up in difficult away games and I expect him to be nullified like the last 2 times at old tarford

6th October 2019 at 10:35 am #49489Problem is Sean, we’ve only been half decent this season against sides that are happy to come at us. We’ve no idea when we have to take the game to the other team. If we can’t counter, we’re clueless. Newcastle are exactly the kind of side we’ll run out of ideas against and they’ll smell blood.
