Chelsea man…..Augerro maybe the wrong side of 30 but just look who is heading the goalscorers, he is actually playing better than I have seen him for some time and his assist are special also. Silva…you cannot rule this guy out, ever…one game below par and he comes in for some stick. Again, he will be important for us , again, this season

8th October 2019 at 3:36 pm #49780I still cannot understand the point many are making re Kompany…..he could not have survived another season in the EPL
He was a good leader but City have survived long spells without him as well. The problem we have now is we are a bit lightweight in defence. I am sure this will be resolved_____________________________

8th October 2019 at 3:38 pm #49781I don’t understand any of this half a dozen key player missing including two centre halves one of them outstanding and the futures of City, Pep, Aguero ( current joint top scorer in the PL) and David Silva are all being questioned on the back of one unlikely home defeat v Wolves.
Bonkers!

8th October 2019 at 3:39 pm #49783Brian, out of interest, do you think that City miss Kompanyβs influence in the dressing room? Even when not fit did he bring something to the team?…Pagan

You are right, Aguero is the joint leading top scorer and has been consistent goal scorer for City, and will be in the near future. and he has been the difference for you guys on many times between you and the other teams. but you look the future and i don’t see any player who is capable of replacing him and getting you that ridiculous number of goals that he gets you year in year out. that is why i raised that point to just start up discussion on that front.
Besides that, i have no doubt in my mind that City will regroup and give Liverpool a run for their money. but whoever wins this league will do so deservedly. as for the chasing pack, i see an interesting race in the bid to fill the remaining two CL spots. and so far 5 teams are rightly in mix.

8th October 2019 at 4:09 pm #49786AnonymousChelseaman… Jesus is more than capable of replacing Aguero – be good to get Mr Brian Blue’s thoughts.
Aguero = brilliance. Soon to be the best foreign striker the league has seen. Henry was sensational, but Aguero is head and shoulders better. Can do everything Henry could do and more.
Also scored one of the most outrageous goals Ive seen scored in the flesh against the blues at stamford bridge. He wanted to play with Drogba (understandable) and the 50 million pound Nando the chicken without piri peri sauce (next to Robert fleck and the little bitch Chris Sutton as truly Chelsea’s worst big money strikers). Somehow he choose Manchester City and the rest is history…
And I Fukken hate him because of it in a jealous fans way… I could have saved all the words above and simply put it like this.
My god what a striker.
Henry 175 premiership goals.
Aguero 172…Between now and the end of his time in England, top three strikers in the history of the league? Anyone want a wager?

8th October 2019 at 4:33 pm #49788AnonymousOz, you would be looking a long time to find a Liverpool fan who thinks its done and dusted. We’ve years of lessons in
As for this lead, on paper you could say that we’ve a good chance of extending it but Utd are no joke when its against us, even if the games are highly uninteresting affairs now. Who knows, maybe we’ve seen the last of the choke the life out of the sport derbies.
We’ve got City soon enough then and if they are still wobbly, we’ve got to do whatever it takes to punish their bad spell and exploit every opportunity because we’ll go through the same thing and the larger the buffer is, the better our chances.
We’ve got to double down and add another 5 wins from 5. That will have us on very good track.

8th October 2019 at 5:13 pm #49792Nine totally agree but itβs the way things are when you are the top
Thatβs why Iβm always saying to Liverpool fans, we will drop unexpected points at some stage but we canβt over react. I would have fully accepted a draw againest Leicester as this can happen

8th October 2019 at 7:03 pm #49795By the way Augero was due to come to Chelsea Mourinho was not interested, as for centre halves there does currently appear to be a shortage of decent centre halves. Not sure why.

8th October 2019 at 7:04 pm #49796AnonymousOur performance level is what worries me. It was the same last season for the first half. We were doing the bare minimum to get the 3 points. The Leicester game was leaving it as close as it gets. It was the same against Chelsea last season and even this one too in a way. It’s great to get the 3 points but we can’t rely on these situations always working out for us. That’s what I’m worried about.
We deserved the 3 points against Leicester though, so it’s not like anything unfair happened. I think the Chelsea game was a lot closer but both games were heart attacks for me and had we done 2% worse in each, we drop 4 points.
As for the bookies odds, they are independent of fan discussion. They are mathematically calculated and are nothing to get carried away with.

8th October 2019 at 7:10 pm #49797I just think this is being in some ways over thought. Why would anybody mistake enjoying a moment for getting carried away?
You follow the Sport and Team because you enjoy it. There’s spirit and being jolly when you win in the way Liverpool did. The Internet and words often causes more in people getting the wrong end of the stick then seeing something good in ‘A’ comment or an expression being written.
Of course there’s a likelihood of Liverpool dropping points. You need a bit of luck and the rub of the green and we’re grateful for that.
That’s it.

8th October 2019 at 7:17 pm #49800Liverpool Fans, when you go to the fair or theme park, do you worry about the safety of the rides, whether they are maintained properly, are they structurally sound?
Well following a club is like a being on a rollercoaster, you canβt affect anything, so just enjoy the ride….Pagan

8th October 2019 at 7:26 pm #49801Mr Pagan, good analogy and true.
If I didn’t feel over-worked and stressed in the way I have done over the last 6 months, I would love to use the word ZEST. That’s the way I want to feel about Liverpool.

8th October 2019 at 8:44 pm #49802AnonymousAye. Well there is always the idea that develops from other fans that we’re celebrating early etc and after a few recent seasons, we’re just more sensitive to it. We’re constantly looking over our shoulder and into the dark alleys as we pass them. The Boogieman can get you at any moment! π
Oz for me is one of the more sensitive to this phenomenon. Back in 13/14 and in an early Klopp season. I was one of the lads who got him swept away in the whole thing, against his own better judgment. I remember he took some convincing! Sean too at the time but as ye lads know, now Sean is surfing the wave… no matter where it takes him.
I think it helps if we stop trying to answer the ultimate question : “Will we win the league?”. You can enjoy the experience week in and out more if you forget this one question. Turn it into “Can we extend or not lose our lead?” and everything is much healthier.
I say this both for us LFC fans but also opposition fans.

8th October 2019 at 9:03 pm #49803Pagan, my view on the Kompany comments is that they are all assuming he would have made the difference. Kompany is one of my all time favourites but he would not have made a difference on the pitch this year, if he thought different he would have stayed another season and his injury record would have highlighted that. As a person he would have probably helped, at times, remember we are only 8 games in and two defeats, he could have shouted from the sideline but in what role? We already have enough coaches so for a couple of below form matches I do not see a role at the moment. We do need a Kompany Mk2 though. Maguire was not the answer either. In conclusion…absolutely love the guy but it was right for him to move on and Pep should have at least found a suitable replacement. The reliance that players can multi role tasks does not work every time and although we have gifted players that is not the same as the right player in the right slot That is my view

8th October 2019 at 9:15 pm #49804442…re Jesus….he will develop to be a better player that is certain, he will have plenty of opportunity this year and the following years. He has not the toughness yet to battle like Augerro ,who had this mentality when he was younger. Jesus is quick but Augerro thinks faster. I am sure he is learning every week from Augerro and fortunately it is well received according to what we know. Unfortunately it does not gell on the pitch so much as a strike partnership but that is due to the tactical plan Pep employs more than anything else Jesus gives everything in effort and he can and does score goals but his time has not arrived yet but getting closer…Just my view

8th October 2019 at 9:27 pm #49806Having surfed around various other mediums of the Net, I’m actually noticing more and more opposition showing support towards Liverpool and hoping they can finally end their 30 year wait – there’s Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, even supporters of clubs from the Championship.
They’re seemingly receptive and recognising what we achieved last season and how we have followed that through so far this season.
It’s totally refreshing from my POV – definitely take that with both hands.

I’m supporting Liverpool to win, because i want the league’s competitiveness to be maintained. i have no ill feeling towards City, but then again i don’t want them to take a hatrick of leagues in a row. and if this Liverpool team cannot stop them from that. i don’t know who else will stop them. besides, i have a few Liverpool mates that i got on well at work. so my only concern is to save the league’s competitiveness. i want a different winner simple as that. and if Liverpool wins this year. they will be deserved winners. or even if City wins they will also be deserved winners. outside of those two, i can’t see anyone else coming anywhere closer. at the start of the season, many were tipping Spurs to challenge the duo, but i can’t see that happening now.
