8th October 2019 at 12:28 am #49738AnonymousAdlab, Utd wont lose heavily to us. When do they ever? They always put in a dogged performance against liverpool.
Do you think we wont fail unless you build us up beforehand or what?

8th October 2019 at 6:27 am #49740Mak, to be fair to Adlab he wasn’t building Liverpool up he was responding to the Ed’s post where he said “Heβll be given the Liverpool game and will go after a dreadful defeat. Mark my words” and both the Ed’s posts and Adlab’s response were more about Ole than anything else.
Like you and Sean I think it will probably be a tight game at OT. Cheers 9’s

8th October 2019 at 7:56 am #49741They are massive loses Brian. Stones is a liability at the moment. Last two city games him and Otamendi have played together, city have conceded 7 goals. 4-3 to Liverpool and Norwich 3-2. Mendy rarely plays and I think zivchenko has done really well at left back
Kdb is just a very special player. Heβs a joy to watch and I think he is missed more this season then last ,as David Silva hasnβt been his usual self. Maybe itβs his age
The attack is still creating great chances and scoring goals. Laporte is the biggest miss as city look a bit scattered at the back
Is pep picking the right team at minute?
Walker at left full sunday. Kdb on bench v Norwich?_____________________________

8th October 2019 at 9:13 am #49743Spot on Sean re Laporte the fact that City have conceded three times as many goals v the same period last season tells its own story.
On Sunday it’s wasn’t only question marks against the defence either City’s usual fluent passing game went to pot too and they gave the ball away far too easily and could have already been trailing at ht because of it.
As you say it’s questionable how beneficial Stones being fit shortly will be to City he will certainly need to up his game.
For City to remain in the title race now they’ve got to stop losing games against teams they should be beating and they will probably need to get at least a win and a draw v Liverpool in the head to head games if not two wins which will be very tough and I fear for them going to Anfield in November currently.
Pep will need to change his tactics for that game imo and go with a double pivot of Fernandinho and Rodri in front of Stones and Otamendi and even then City will need a bit of luck to come away with anything and they probably need a win which currently looks unlikely.

8th October 2019 at 9:41 am #49746Biggest mistake Pep has made at City was not strengthening the defence when Kompany moved on. Not only was he a great player and leader, but it also left them with only 3 senior centre backs, for which two of them are suspect. Surely 4 good centre backs is required these days?
Will Pep buy in January? Difficult time to get players admittedly. But if he does who? Would like to hear specifically from the City guys on here.
Koulibaly? SΓΆyΓΌncΓΌ? Thought he impressed against Liverpool apart from being turned once by Salah. Some lesser known player, maybe a u21? Or just make do with what you have?

8th October 2019 at 9:47 am #49747Good time to get City? Sadly we have to wait until 24/11/2019 away from home and when they are most likely back in form and angry.

8th October 2019 at 10:34 am #49748AnonymousCity’s weakness has always been their defence in Peps time but they will recover maybe not to win it this season but they will close the gap. Shame let Liverpool win it they havent won it for such a long time. It will make their large support base around the world happy so why not.

8th October 2019 at 11:27 am #49752Summary of the PL top 6 teams:
If Liverpool wins the PL this season. surely they will be a derserved winners, after all they had been the most consistent team in the league this season. they have done their home work early and worked out on their weaknesses earlier. and now you can see they are reaping the reward. and it’s incredible that it was like today some four years ago that Klopp has taken over Liverpool. all the players he has inherited only Firminho is first choice and you would say Lallana,Lovren and Henderson who are not guaranteed starters. he has rebuilt them bit by bit and today they are the best team in Europe. the man deserves credit for his turn around at Liverpool. and his status as a Liverpool great will be sealed when he wins their first league 30 years.
I think City’s cycle of dominance is coming to an end if Guardiola do not act quicker. both D.Silva and Aguero are in the wrong side of their 30. and these players need to be replaced in the lobger term. also i’m not sure if Rodri is better than Fernandinho in that defensive midfield position. Sterling started the season like a house on fire, but is now bit below par. both Arsenal and Chelsea are heading in the right direction but are not yet there. there is uncertainty at United and Spurs to some extent. in Spurs case, they need an out and out defensive midfielder who will protect their defence and a creative attacking midfielder as Eriksen has already made up his mind to run down his contract. also their CBs are aging and they need fresh blood there. and possibly a new Keeper.
As for United, the first think is they need to appoint D.O.F to some one of a footballing background to work hand in hand with the coach. second get an experienced coach who could command the dressing room. and third get a striker, a creative attacking midfielder a proper winger and a left back. it will help them push up in the top 4.

8th October 2019 at 11:42 am #49753You say City’s weakness is our defence. Currently of course. They are all injured and no Kompany replacement.
Look at the stats….goals against. Whose is better? Remember though look at the stats. You might think again._____________________________

8th October 2019 at 12:25 pm #49756Jeezus have we learnt nothing from last season. Bookies slashing odds on a Liverpool title, some fans not much better, yes Liverpool have been the most consistent SO FAR but ffs we are 8 games in, only 1/4 of the season. City have been through this before, theyβve proven over recent seasons they can go the distance. This is a long way from over & I still think we will get a couple of injuries & a couple of big guns will lose form as the season rolls on & city will close the gap. Iβm being honest when I say I think city will still win it.

8th October 2019 at 12:50 pm #49759This 8 point gap can very quickly evaporate. One Liverpool loss and, all of a sudden, it’s a 5 point gap. Really is nothing at this stage of the season

8th October 2019 at 1:01 pm #49760AnonymousThat is true Ed. A fair few tweeted the same thing and mentioned the BBC as their source. It could be 1 person making it up and a few have just followed. I guess we will have to wait and see.

8th October 2019 at 1:14 pm #49762To be fair I don’t think LFC having been shouting it’s our year as we are renowned for doing so, everyone else is doing it for us! The games vs City, like last season, will be pivotal. 8 points can change to 2.
I will only celebrate an 8 point lead if there’s only 2 games left! However there is no harm in having hope is there? Surely every fan, even Utd fans(!), have some sort of hope for the season, if not what’s the point of watching?

8th October 2019 at 1:57 pm #49768Ed, at this very time. United remain a top 6 team. regardless of the problems they are having. but it will stupid to write them off as a top 6 or even top 4 team. things can quickly turn around and change. 4 years ago, Liverpool were not playing in the CL and United were playing in the CL. first forward Liverpool are European champions and current PL leaders. so fortunes can change.

8th October 2019 at 1:57 pm #49769Oz, to be fair to the bookies they will only slash the odds on Liverpool winning the title on the back of more money being placed on Liverpool to win the title.

8th October 2019 at 2:02 pm #49770I haven’t a clue where United might finish this season but Chelseaman is right about the top 6 which will surely swing around as the season progresses.
Credit to Palace currently being in the top 6 but I wouldn’t be putting my money on them still being in the top 6 at the end of the season.

8th October 2019 at 3:03 pm #49774Disagree about Pepβs biggest weakness is cities defence. They only conceded 23 goals last season. City with Laporte in the team, are excellent at the back
There are defensive problems at the minute but thatβs down to the lack of proper centre halfβs available and not pep
Ederson was a massive upgrade on brave. Quality keeper. The defence has been excellent since he cane but now itβs looks frail because they have to play a midfielder in defence
Laporte is a much bigger loss then kompany in my opinion. Heβs one of the best left sided centre backs around. Rock solid and a lovely left foot
