Nil..re Walker…the official reason was he had been suffering from stomach problems…I believe that, he did not look well HOWEVER I do not think he should have been in the team he has not been playing well for some time and I believe he will not be with us next season. It is not strange that Southgate has dropped him as well. We also score from different positions including outside the box. Many that are scored in the box start and finish outside the box much as Salahs do, you cannot pigeon hole City with a tap in quality. however, sometimes it takes good football to get to a tap in See the game Nil not an incident, that is the advantage of being there instead of watching on TV

7th October 2019 at 9:48 am #49658Ed, kind words and good points from you as always.
I’ve included a couple of posts from me from elsewhere yesterday below, there was good and bad yesterday and plenty still for Chelsea to work on imo.
“Sloppy start from Chelsea, sloppy passing and b****y dreadful defending from Chelsea Frank needs to seriously bend some ears at ht. CL itis?”
:
“I think we started sloppy and some of our passing and defending was poor although on the positive side we seemed to deal better with the high ball into the box.Offensively though we looked decent.
Emerson and Rudiger into the back 4 will be a big help imo.
Having said that no one else has beaten Southampton 4-1 at St Mary’s and I think we will only get better.”
We are still very much work in progress though imo and the returns of Rudiger and Emerson to the defence I think will make us a bit more solid defensively although yesterday you could see the work Frank has been doing with the players at the training ground re defending high balls and Lotus Cheek available around Christmas time will be like a new signing.
Currently I’m happy with how things have gone and cautiously optimistic for the season.? Cheers 9’s

7th October 2019 at 1:07 pm #49680Just a quick question for the Chelsea lads here. how good was Willian yesterday? i thought he was our man of the match. the way he protected Azpi was brilliant. Azpi was rarely exposed. and Lampard has been brilliant to get this balance. at the start of the season Azpi was exposed and Lampard stood by with him. and then he benched Pulisic for exposing Azpi. since Willian was introduced, Azpi has been good. we need players like that who not only are great going forward but can track back and protect their fullback.

7th October 2019 at 1:13 pm #49682Didn’t see the City game but it must have been a major improvement in Wolves performance to that when we beat them 5-2 only a three weeks back. City coudn’t even score once. Rather odd that when I still fear our defence (even now) against a City side that score for fun.

7th October 2019 at 1:17 pm #49683Agree chelseaman and he polled as man of the match on twitter too. His energy is there for all to see and he works his socks off. That is why I don’t know why he is so disliked. On twitter they batter him too. It is when he does really well and gets no credit that it gets my back up. Frank picks him all the time so there must be something in that.

7th October 2019 at 1:40 pm #4968767, probably not appropriate for the Chelsea site where Willian has been done to death almost literally.? but there’s been a bit more of positive reactions to Willy’s performance on Social after the Southampton game.
“The Brazilian right-winger has had his critics in recent times, but was given plenty of praise on social media following his latest display and his experience is proving vital.” The Chelsea Chronicle.
Agree with yours and Chelseaman’s comments on Willy above and playing like he has over the last few games he’s worth a contract extension imo.

7th October 2019 at 2:04 pm #49691To be honest 999 I have already posted re Willian on there before I read your post above as I was on that site before coming on here but feel free to delete it if you like.
In fact I am a little bemused by the extent of Frank’s praise after the Southampton match yesterday. It is glowing so I just had to post it there as there can be no arguments, even with our illustrious friend.
For those that missed his post match interview, Lampard assessed the mix of youth and experience in his team and picked out one player for special praise.
‘The balance at the moment is good. It’s nice for me, it’s great to coach because the young players want to improve all the time, but you have to mention the experienced players around them.
‘Willian was the standout today, without a doubt. If you wanted to show our wingers what we want from them, we would show them a video of his work ethic today, and his quality and burst of pace on the ball.
‘In the last four or five games he has been our best player. It’s a great thing to say when you have got players who are examples on the pitch around these young boys.’

7th October 2019 at 2:48 pm #49699No mate, much the same as the post above. Agree, he appears to be keeping a low profile right now and, for sure, best it stays that way.
Nothing in it to antagonise (which is something I am very careful not to do as you know) but just facts as they are. Also it was a response to Aindro’s comment on there where he mentioned Willian’s performance so there is indeed a communicating link there 🙂

7th October 2019 at 2:50 pm #49700Chelsea should give Lamps a 10-year contract, and as much ££££ as he wants only for bringing youth players through.

why do that? whats the point? same mistke united did with ole!
we all know it can turn around very quickly i think managers should be on smaller contracts, rolling 2 years or something, better for all partysi remember when pardew was given a 7 year contract at newcastle after geeat start and didnt last long after that!!
less pressure all round….

7th October 2019 at 3:10 pm #49703Buffy-Ole is a crap manager managing a team full of crap players.Only the youngsters it seems give a toss.At Chelsea.they have some fantastic youth coming through, and they are producing every week.United are Championship team, stop mixing aples & oranges.
ps:Moyes was given a 6-year contract by United,too.

7th October 2019 at 3:17 pm #49704Bloody hell Mav, a 10 year contract after 10 games or whatever it is, one of which was a 4-0 loss to the worst Utd side ever, a home loss to Valencia, a draw to Sheff Utd at home. I think things look bright for Chelsea too at present, but ridiculous to get carried away so early. I hope your comment was tongue in cheek ?

7th October 2019 at 3:22 pm #49705goose, oles first 12 games were better than any manager ever in the PL, let alone vs frank, and with the same shit squd he has now but now its worse with no strikers…franks doing very well but eary days and no 19 year contract, there is no need, if the club is happy the will support him and all will be rosey

7th October 2019 at 3:49 pm #49706Stevo, 19 years now that is taking it too far!?
The 3 years Frank’s on is fine long way to go yet the nice thing is despite the games we’ve lost arguably we should have more points than we have.
I’m hoping when Rudiger and Emerson are back they will cement up the defence a bit and then there’s Loftus Cheek to come back and Hudson Odoi to get match fit.
I think we should make the top 6 this season anything more than that is a bonus and then how we do in the transfer market next Summer will be interesting.
As the other Chelsea lads have said Willian is currently playing very well and working hard which has helped a lot 3rd highest scorers behind the top 2 too.?

7th October 2019 at 4:43 pm #49712Buffy & Eddy-Tongue in cheek indeed, but Lamps is doing a great job in moulding in the youth while playing some very attacking & flowing footy.Mount is the next J.Maddison in making.

I think you might be right. After losing badly to Liverpool that might be it. As a City fan I hope not!_____________________________

7th October 2019 at 9:18 pm #49733Hightown…if it was just laporte it would be different but we lost Sane,KDB,Stones,Mendy as well as Laporte, almost half the team. I am not crying about it, the team we put out against Wolves should have won, we did not, credit Wolves and back to some hard lessons on the training ground for us

7th October 2019 at 10:11 pm #49734In an ideal world our CB pairing should have been Rudiger and Zouma, two player who are 1.9 m tall each, flanked by Emerson and Reece James, and Jorginho and Kante sitting in front of them. our defence would have been stronger than it is currently. fragile as Zouma is, i watched him yesterday especially in the second half, and he has won many ariel battles. with the right form, he will be a handy player. but still something inside me says otherwise. i don’t know why i have this weird feeling. but honestly i’m a massive fan of Zouma. if you want to bench mark his importance, look at how Everton is struggling without him. and Lampard knows that, and is patient with him. the same way Marco Silva was when they first took him on loan. but he has proven himself to be their best CB as time gone by. Lampard is aware of what a fully fit Zouma and in good form is capable. and i’m thinking that Zouma is one of his favourites. can you imagine he has only missed i game and 2 halves in this entire season. the first half against Wolves and the first half against Liverpool and the Brighton match and that one he was sick?. i can see Frank sticking with him.
