Ye Chelsea man was saying that to lucky last week about Jorginho. Much tougher this season and had always been an excellent passer of the ball
Taroe off wolves had the ability to what he did againest city today but is to inconsistent. Thereβs a very good player in there

6th October 2019 at 8:09 pm #49620Brian, whilst Foden and Garcia might be great medium to long term prospects they probably aren’t the answer now and if they were I suspect Pep would be playing them now.
Kompany was a big influence on the squad/team and a very useful player in the second half of last season if Pep didn’t think he needed replacing why did City chase Maguire? The Laporte injury has been very costly to City imo losing players of the statute of Kompany and Laporte would have tested anyone.

6th October 2019 at 8:44 pm #49623Nine,,,he will play them because he has few options Otamendi/Fernandinho cannot play every game until after Christmas when you think of the Cup matches as well In an ideal world like I was pointing out pep would have nurtured them but that luxury is not open to him now. I do not think Pep and his colleagues felt that Maguire was that good and worth what Leicester wanted, Utd eventually paid, like they paid for Fred, Sanchez, Pogba and others, personal, I have never rated Maguire that highly…a good player but not a stand out CB like Kompany was or Terry or nowadays Van Dyke so on reflection Pep saving his money for somebody else, which may/may not happen in January, more like for next season I do see major changes at City at the end of the season. I see at least 6 of the current squad moving on. City are being careful of UEFA tracking them now so will do any transactions as allowed under the rules City will have bumpy patches, Pep and the Chairman have already stated that but the progress the club makes should be on an upward curve in all areas.
If you did not listen to the Chairmans yearly report, you should do, very level headed, very proud and always looking to the future
Defeats, like to day, hurt for a couple of seconds then I move on confident City will sort it out_____________________________

6th October 2019 at 8:52 pm #49625Anyone watching Inter v Juve? Proper game this is, half time 1-1, Ronaldo and Dybala look amazing together with Bernadeschi playing behind them (sarri is playing cruyff’s 442 diamond rather than his usual 433)
Thought it was unlucky for Inter to get this game just a few days after playing in Nou camp but thats how it goes sometimes. They are giving Juve a hell of a game though and it is truly a Conte side in the making. Also unlucky to lose their young mid sensi early to injury, the replacement Vecino doesnt look half the player sensi is and Inter have found it harder since he went off.
Ref great in this game, and of course no good game nowadays without VAR over ruling a goal and Ronaldo had a great strike from outside box ruled out, Dybala and him had played a great one-two but Dybala was a fraction off-side.
Lukaku been crap but better suited to conte’s system, the guy really standing out for Inter so far is Latauro Martinez, he scored the pen for inter and his movement is superb on the break.
Cant wait for second half, best game of the weekend by far for me and only 45 mins gone π

6th October 2019 at 9:00 pm #49627Agreed Brian and if it all ended today I think like me re Chelsea you would say you’ve seen City win things you never ever thought you would see them win.
I don’t think we’ll ever really know why City didn’t go for certain players but I don’t buy Pep’s we haven’t got the money because that’s clearly nonsense and like you I do think it’s more to do with bring under scrutiny from UEFA.
The injuries you have would stretch any team take the kind of players you’re missing out of the Liverpool team and it would impact on them too.
If City don’t win the title this season I expect them to come again next season although I still wouldn’t write them off just yet.

6th October 2019 at 9:04 pm #49628Juve were stupid if they were genuinely considering letting Dybala go. Any prem team gets the chance to sign him again they need to snap him up, top quality. Juve dominating second half so far.

6th October 2019 at 9:19 pm #49629The old saying “it’s a marathon not a sprint”.
I think this time round, the experience from last season will benefit Liverpool and perhaps they’ll avoid drawing teams like they did last season, but over the course of a 38 game season, you have to be prepared a bump or bumps.
Lovren looked mature yesterday and served very well, but ultimately, that line is better lead by Van Dijk. It’s incredible that he’s maintained fit. Obviously in other competitions, he’ll be rested for recovery, but this time last season, Man City experienced these type of injuries and they came trumps even though it was by one point.
There are the Head-to-head meetings too so points could well be dropped.
Of course, nothing is decided yet, it’s just the moments and enjoying the experience when things do go your way.

6th October 2019 at 9:51 pm #49632Lukaku was bloody dreadful tonight, I would feel sorry for Conte but he bought him the silly sod π
To be fair to Conte tonight, based on the players he has compared to Juve it was a miracle it was close, it was men vs boys at times and as good as Inter’s start has been, there are levels and then there is Juve as far as Serie A is concerned. Conte had nothing on the bench to really change the game, Sarri brought on Higuain who got the winner.
Massive win for Juve and overtaking Inter at the top of Serie A. They played superbly at times and fair play to Sarri as it was the changes in second half that won him the game, but Conte didnt have the same options to be fair to him.

6th October 2019 at 10:01 pm #49634While Laporte is obviously a big miss for City, are people conveniently forgetting that Liverpool lost arguably their most important player, or at least one of them in the first game of the season as well?
It’s a big loss to lose Laporte for 5 months absolutely, but people havery conveniently forgotten about us losing Alliaon. Just saying.

6th October 2019 at 10:32 pm #49636It’s a fair point HH. I don’t buy its all injuries with City. They still had more than enough quality in that side today to get something. I just think it’s hard to stay motivated for them after last season – but then it begs the question – why no Foden, a guy who’s going to be full of beans being a home grown player with top quality according to his manager? I hear what Brian is saying about looking after youngsters, but Foden has seen just 10 minutes of action in the premier league this season. This is how Fergie maintained motivation for his teams to keep going no matter what they had previously won by bringing in such players. The answer, or part of it, is staring Pep right in the face.

6th October 2019 at 11:14 pm #49637Watched the MOTD highlights, but must have missed the bit when Zinchenko came on for Kyle Walker. Don’t know the reason behind that substitution whether it’s down to an injury, but Walker is a Key Figurehead in my view for that back line.
Rodri and Cancelo combined, I’m not sure. As already mentioned, it’s supplementing injury hit defenders in La Porte and Stones. These Newbies need time.
Man City’s goals albeit long range efforts from KDB come from very close range, and those of which are made up of high crosses to the far post so that guy heads it down ready for a tap in.
Wolves to their credit, read the situations well and they have ample bodies. They worked very hard physically and were switched it, it’s a testament to them.
Pep mentioned they can catch Liverpool. Of course they can, it’s a mere 8 games and tons of football to be played.

6th October 2019 at 11:15 pm #49639I think from the first sight i hold that view of injuries do not count. but after i was enlightened by Nine and Adlab. i have to say, the players that City are missing are more important than Allison Hightown hope. Laporte amd KDB count like Salah and Van Dijk. but if you win the league you deserve it ni doubt. injuries and loss of form will come to Liverpool as well, but it’s how they deal that will show their capability.
anyway, i have signed a 3 game contract with Luverpool. one has already been win. next go to Oldtrafford and do the job for us. and then next is Spurs. i’m a sourcer for those two games for sure?. amd for the sake of competitiveness, i want Liverpool to win the league. i don’t want a hatrick of wins for Guardiola.?

7th October 2019 at 12:49 am #49641Anonymous“Mak, weβre a lot more composed now and donβt necessary head for the panic button or go all over the shop when a goal down or needing to find the Winner.”
This reads like you’re having a go at me. I cant think of why though, so Im willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and ask you to clarify what you’re talking about.

7th October 2019 at 1:18 am #49642I’m not having a go at you, so not sure why you are behaving and responding in such way “benefit of the doubt” For what exactly? I kindly gave you the courtesy of my reply at 6:30.
At times, I don’t particularly like your approach – turning something into something that doesn’t even exist. I was actually supportive of you.

7th October 2019 at 2:10 am #49644AnonymousIm not sure whats happened here. That is a repeat of my previous post. What i actuslly said about an hour ago was along the lines of “ok nil, cheers for the explanation” and some other stuff but i cant remember exactly. (Any ideas Ed?)
Nil, you should have seen that this was a duplicate… but maybe you had an issue and you didnt want to see it.
The thing now is you have kinda shown that you were actually having a bit of s go tho (why I cant even guess). What is this “supportive” nonsense? I definitely dont need this apparent support. Your initial comment was completely out of the blue and was suggestive.. you’ve just outright said it there tho and even if it was down to some kind of technical issue, you still showed your hand and I’ll just be totally totally clear now Nil… you want to talk about support, thats what I had for you man. Through all your shit.
Well, you can get fucked now buddy. I havent the patience for more of this shit from you, so Im washing my hands of you. Dont respond to this, I dont want to hear it.

7th October 2019 at 2:30 am #49645AnonymousIts a good point HH. I guess we quantify injuries based on their impact on results. Had Liverpool only Karius to cover for Alisson, we’d have lost quite a few points ourselves. No way we leave stamford bridge with anything had Adrian and Matip not been top notch. Remember that Matip only got back into the team because Gomez got injured a long time ago. Thats only an interesting thought but it does demonstrate some qualities.
Did anyone expect Adrian to be so good? I didnt. For a keeper to be so good that you almost dont miss someone like Alisson , well, its really saying something. In defence we’ve gone back as far as Lovren and he was immense. There’s no excuse for Pep to not have better cover. FFP might be an explanation for them not ammending the problem…
Being without KDB is another story though. Any team would dearly miss a player of his quality. City should miss him less, given their incredible squad but there is no smoothing over of that hole. Not entirely.
I think we could manage without Salah, for a time. I wouldn’t like it one bit but im sure we’d be in big trouble if van dijk was out for an entended time. Even with Gomez there and ready.

7th October 2019 at 8:31 am #49650Would be a little bit funny if we swapped a manager who lost to Newcastle away for the only other manager to have lost to Newcastle this season, albeit he was at home (Poch)!
I tell you what. I do find it a bit odd how Rafa was an absolute genius for keeping Newcastle up (whilst playing dreadful football) but Steve Bruce is deemed an awful manager yet is looking like doing pretty much the same job.
Special mention this weekend to Chelsea who are on brilliant form. I stand by my point that it’s far too early to judge them (and Frank) yet though. Let’s see how they pick themselves up after a down turn in form. So far, so good though!

7th October 2019 at 9:15 am #49652AnonymousCity recently played 2 academy centre backs against lower league opposition in he league cup. They both looked good too, so why doesn’t Pep turn to 1 of them? They spent a lot of money on that academy and have a few decent players there.
