Nil thats the thing, it only gets mentioned in a negative way. People don’t even notice it when things go well but it’s an important part of our play both defensive and offensive.

16th April 2022 at 7:32 pm #195489The fact that Man Utd still have a shout at top 4 is embarrassing. Boy is the league weak below Chelsea.
As for the final, good performance today. I do wonder if the plan has been to manage the performances in 2nd gear over recent months and now keep upping them as we reach the climax of the season.

16th April 2022 at 9:03 pm #195490If there was criticism to be pointed on Man City’s 11 selected today it would be based in my view not so much on the ability individual players, but the blend of players surrounding more frequent starters against players who haven’t featured as much and less established.
Blending Stones, Ake and Zinchenko is one example here. I don’t understanding it personally from what is in Pep’s mind other than the explanation of no Diaz and Kyle Walker.
Fernandinho is not at fault stand alone, but when he is faced against Fabinho and Naby Keita, he really wasn’t going to outmuscle and gain authority. Again, this is down to the blend of not surrounding by KDB or Gundogen.
From our POV, it’s just gratefulness to be able to pick a team effectively with a clean bill of health.
I’m not sure whether it give us some kind of a psychological edge, but I’m sure it will add an extra boost to our confidence levels and make us believe between now and the remainder of this season.

17th April 2022 at 1:07 am #195492Consider for one moment if Ronaldo hadn’t joined Man U this season. Would they have made top 10? I don’t think so

Difficult one as we came second last season without him. I think you’re forced to play a certain way with him in the side. I doubt we’d be any worse off but probably no better either.

Completely agree Mikus. It’s an awful league. Worst I’ve seen in a long time. I’d even go as far as to say below Liverpool and City, it’s one of the worst PL seasons for a long long time for quality. Chelsea are so inconsistent. A bit like us last season. The best of the rest but still not great.

17th April 2022 at 8:55 am #195495Conte’s Spurs poor again. Not a single shot on target at home to Brighton despite having the most productive strike partnership the league has ever seen.
Whoever gets 4th this season won’t have deserved it.

17th April 2022 at 9:02 am #195496There is zero consistency outside of the top two. I really thought Chelsea would challenge this year, very disappointing. Spurs, I feel under Conte’s intensity are incapable of stringing together a really long set of performances. That kind of intensity with that small a squad is impossible to maintain.
Ed, I really don’t know where you’re getting your goals from without Ronny. Rashford is nowhere, Greenwood on remand, Cavani in a wheelchair. No Ronny, no party the way I see it. He has won them so many games this season when Man U have been awful._____________________________

17th April 2022 at 9:07 am #195497Yeah it’s been a perfect storm for Utd’s forwards this season as you say. Crazy that Rashford completely forgets how to play football in the same season that Greenwood does what he does and Cavani suddenly can never play a game as he’s never fit.

17th April 2022 at 9:09 am #195498Spurs have no European football either so they have no excuses re their squad size. They’re having a week to prepare for most games.

17th April 2022 at 10:08 am #195499Keita was immense yday and is having best season. Thisgo is just a very Special player. 8 out of ten consistently in all games all season
Cities focus on the league and cl. Our best chance beating them was ydsy with the players they left out but it was aways going to be a tough game.
Delighted we got to the final. 3rd goal was superb .
Spurs like Arsenal are throwing 4th away. Truly embarrassing stuff.
Now onto Tuesday for us.

17th April 2022 at 10:36 am #195500I was disappointed yesterday that the game was all but over before a ball wax kicked. Wouldn’t it have been good to see another top game like last weekend.
Missing from our 1st Eleven yesterday:In defence – Ederson,Walker, Dias, Laporte (our basic defence)
Midfield- KDB, Rodri(both vital)
Attack – Mahrez (season’s top scorer)Then to play v a rested first eleven Liverpool..it makes nonsense of it which was such a pity.
Headline in the Daily Mail report by Oliver Holt…”It was over before it started”.Never mind the catastrophic mistake by Steffan. And Klopp’s comments???_____________________________

17th April 2022 at 10:49 am #195501Sean…I think both City and Liverpool have set the standards so high , it is, that, the other teams are not following so close. I do not think the levels have dropped for the rest, in fact I think they have become higher. If you look at the way Norwich played, admit some poor defending by to days standards etc but the football itself has improved so much and I would make a guess that the bottom teams now would have been serious contenders for the title as little as 10 years ago. I guess it maybe said …that is the games development. This however brings to days scene and City and Liverpools era. I would also add that it is down to good management more than finance

17th April 2022 at 11:45 am #195502Adlab, ye I strongly fancied us when I saw the teams. Midweek helped us no doubt. Klopp has managed our squad brilliantly and I think the signing of Diaz has pushed mane on.
We could make 7 changes during the week. Not sure what Klopp said but he usually always respectful towards city.
No doubt cities line up helped us but pep knew this game was coming weeks ago and itโs clear the fa cup is not on his main list of priorities. Delighted we got through the final.

17th April 2022 at 11:48 am #195503Brian, I think Chelsea are a fine side and are not to far off city and Liverpool. They could beat either of us in a one off game.
City are just a brilliant side. They will win the league but Iโm really just enjoying this spell for us. Itโs brilliant being involved in big game after game. We have our best squad ever and are managed by an absolute hero for us fans. Heโs adored and Iโm dreading the day he leaves.

17th April 2022 at 11:50 am #195504To be fair, our teams have up to now done very well in European competitions and very pleasing to see how far both Leicester and West Ham have reached.
It takes years of work to reach a high level of quality, investment in money, time and keeping faith of Management team to ensue continuity.
From our point of view, the catalyst was our result at West Brom and Alisson’s heroics to get us a Champions League spot. That’s important and we’re now in the semis.
We can only play what’s in front of us and we shouldn’t really be made to have to adjust our first 11. Not easy with the amount of games these players play too to try and stay in as many competitions. I understand rotation also playing a key part.

17th April 2022 at 1:46 pm #195507There were troublemakers but that was a minority and Manchester City straight away issued a Club Statement. There is camaraderie and respect between the two clubs with a relationship built and maintained. I hope it stays that way too.
