Ya, Sky won’t shut up about Spurs being potential title contenders. If they come through those games smelling of roses then fine, then we can discuss it but until then… I suppose this kind of talk is going to be louder since Liverpool got smashed by Villa and then with the injuries too.

20th November 2020 at 11:55 am #170417AnonymousOne thing that is interesting to me is that Robertson is no longer listed as being injured. He’s going to start i guess. Now, perhaps he will play on the right and the new lad will take the left. I’d be much happier with that than Milner, as we’d then have that edge down the flanks. It would be a problem for crosses on the right of course but Robertson is more than capable of cutting in, as you all know.

20th November 2020 at 12:01 pm #170418AnonymousAs for Robertson though, he went through extra time (I think) in a highly charged, qualifier. I really hope that the medical team are on this and tell Klopp not to risk him if they think he’s in danger of a proper injury. TBH, I’d have had him on the oxygen since he came back. That and whatever physio or treatment they think they can do to help him recover completely from the exertion, no expense spared.
Now if there was any doubt, I’d not even play him… even though we desperately need him. it’s one game but a torn hamstring could be 6 weeks or so and we can’t risk losing anyone else.
That said, that injury table has 4 players listed as being “back” for Sunday. That as in they can at least be assessed for a potential appearance but what it means is they will all be back within a week after and that will be a huge boost for us. We’ll still be without our CB pairing but there’s no hope for that changing any time soon, so we will take any win we can get at this stage.

20th November 2020 at 12:03 pm #170419Good to see the PL back and no internationals until March.😊
It could be a really exciting race for the title this season.
Down to City in 10th place there is only a 6 point difference between 10th place and Leicester at the top of the PL with City having a game in hand and down to 10th place they’re all currently title contenders but obvioysly some will fall by the wayside, some probably sooner rather than later
Be great though if we could see 4 or 5 teams contesting the title as we get towards the home straight. Whatever happens I’m pretty sure it’s not going to be won by 18 points this season.
Latest PL title odds.

20th November 2020 at 12:20 pm #170420AnonymousIf Leicester beat us, those odds are going to get trashed but I suppose they are probably about right as things stand.

20th November 2020 at 2:12 pm #170421Mak, Robertson played the whole game for Scotland v Israel in Israel on Wednesday night. Without anything happens between now and then it seems like he will be fit to start.

20th November 2020 at 4:53 pm #170424Seen online an article about Klopp being interviewed by Jamie Redknapp and the question was raised on Points Tally and defending the Title, and the reckoning from the Liverpool Boss was that it won’t be how it has been the last few years of 99, 98, 100.
In context, those were effectively ultra high standards that essentially stemmed from Conte back in 2017 when he managed Chelsea. It might be an ‘upset’ and it might be ‘a Leicester’ like the 2016 season.
We need to allow some fixtures played of course to see if there is momentum between 1-2 Teams of whether they’ll be a small cluster all very much in line with each other.

20th November 2020 at 5:20 pm #170427The more the merrier imo Nil.
I’m a football fan first and foremost and I think it would be brilliant to see 4 or 5 teams going into the final strait with just a few points between them.
Maybe there’s a chance of that this season. Here’s hoping!😊

20th November 2020 at 5:37 pm #170430Nine, I’ve liked the ones that have gone right into the final day. Still liked ours in 2019 even though we were pipped as it gave us hope.
I can’t ever recall a 3rd team involved at that point in time, so that would definitely be something different and of course add to the excitement of the race.

20th November 2020 at 5:53 pm #170431Nil,most memorable PL finish imo was City snatching the title from United’s grasp in 2012 in the last minute v QPR.

20th November 2020 at 6:10 pm #170432Nine, yeah. It was goal difference that separated it. Truly Incredible looking back as it was City’s first Title after a very long time.
I liked 1995, for obvious reasons and mainly for Kenny 🙂

20th November 2020 at 7:17 pm #170433AnonymousI won’t lie, I was bored to tears at times during our winning season. That sounds odd but it was done and dusted long before covid stopped things and then when it came back, I was obviously pleased to have football back but you could see that the lads didnt have that extra charge or motivation and why would they?
I’ve seen enough of the 2 horse race stuff. It goes back 3 seasons but really more like 3.5, as our first season with Van Dijk all changed about half way thorough, after we signed him. Of course we have the CL finals to keep us extra happy there too but ya, like Nine, I need to see more teams in there, maybe in some strange way, this is why I get so annoyed and not happy when I think about that utter fool Woodward messing up Utd.
You all remember when playing Utd was something to look forward to? Maybe it was just a Liverpool fans perspective, as we were only ever a very good side at the best of those times, when Utd were a great one. Perhaps they didnt look forward to our matches too much? Would be interested to know from the Utd lads on here but from my perspective they were a thrilling fixture, even if we often lost them. The minute Fergie retired and Utd went from one defensive manager who never really had a working philosophy to another, I just stopped looking forward to them more and more. Every game seemed awful.
Now though we have some great projects out there and this season they’ve taken a step forward, whilst it seems like ourselves and maybe City too have taken a step back… and I am not just talking about the injuries, as it was apparent before them too. That could have been early season stuff, we’ll never know now, as Gomez and Van Dijk’s injuries will have set us on a new trajectory.
If this season we only get a 3 horse race (with Liverpool involved, I hope, of course) I’ll be happy with that. If it were to end in another boring PL title for us of course I’d celebrating it but the best competitions are the ones most worthy of winning and a permanent 2 horse race would just taint things for me, over time anyway.

20th November 2020 at 8:23 pm #170436Mak…I was there and have to say in all my years of watching it was a game that had everything. City giving cheap goals away, high tempo throughout, never say die attitude and the City fans. but It took me a little time to release what had happened. It was truly an amazing day and one that will live forever in my mind

20th November 2020 at 8:34 pm #170437Jesus mak lol I never got bored last season mate. I was glad it wasn’t as stressful as the season before. You just knew city weren’t going to slip up that season
What a season though. As a Liverpool fan I’ve had some gut wrenching times. Kompany goal v Leicester was such a bitter blow but the next night we beat Barca 4-0 and that’s when things really changed for us
What a night. That’s why we lovrvfootball. High to low in a day
Always remember augeros goal. What a crazy day. Was delighted for city fans and it was won the city way. It should have been an easy win but what a way to finish
It’s up there with aresnal 2-0 at anfield in 89. I was 12 and I cried lol 😂
Was actually listening to a Ricky Hatton podcast with Janie carrsgher about that day. What a day

20th November 2020 at 8:37 pm #170439Mak…re. “City and Liverpool takeing a step back”. apart from the current circumstances I think both are going to go through a period of re build, which will give opportunities for other teams, I do not say that in a patronising way either, but this will happen and players like Salah, Mane Augerro, Fernandinho and other will move on and our managers will be planning for that right now. I am sure if you looked back at some of the great Liverpool and City teams fans would be thinking they will go on forever, football does not work like that. I do agree about two horse race leagues though, I have often said i would like at least 6 teams competing, we may get it this season. We have to accept what we have for now with no crowds, it will be very difficult for clubs to even Marshall low percentage crowds as well, they may give some atmosphere at matches but it is the before and after the game that is important as well. the question then is if fans will behave? I would like to try “Family’s only” for a start. and that means say Parents and children…just an idea
