“9, just because FIFA say something does that means it has to happen? That would mean the top clubs in Europe just need to get FIFA/UEFA permission to start a super league and thereβs nothing anyone can do to stop itβ¦..Pagan”
That’s about right Pagan a European Super League if it was ever to come about couldn’t happen without the agreement of UEFA/ FIFA.
It’s an indistutable fact Pagan that IFAB who are an adjunct of FIFA set the rules of football anything else is just rhetoric.

8th November 2020 at 1:58 pm #169855Important win for Spurs which takes them to the top of the League at least temporarily.
Tough days for Bilic the rumour was he would likely be gone if he lost the Spurs game?

8th November 2020 at 2:18 pm #169856VAR is ruining the game, yet more evidence. Feel for Wolves. Harsh call.

8th November 2020 at 2:29 pm #1698579, what Iβm asking though is can the teams just break away with FIFAβs permission? Meaning UEFA, The FA and The Premier League have no say? If the answers yes then no wonder FIFA is so corrupt…..Pagan

8th November 2020 at 2:46 pm #169859AnonymousNot often a Jose side slips up when in front of a chasing pack. Kanes will win spurs the title on his own.

8th November 2020 at 2:57 pm #1698609, as far as I am aware, a league has to meet certain requirements to use VAR, this then has to be agreed by IFAB and FIFA, in other words IFAB/FIFA canβt force a league to use it.
This is from the laws of the game
The VAR protocol, as far as possible, conforms to the principles and philosophy of the Laws of the Game.
The use of video assistant referees (VARs) is only permitted where the match/ competition organiser has fulfilled all the VAR protocol and implementation requirements (as set out in the VAR Handbook) and has received written permission from The IFAB and FIFA.

8th November 2020 at 3:04 pm #169861Pagan, to clarify IFAB/ FIFA are responsible for the rules of the game and individual Leagues can’t declare UDI in respect of VAR.
The European Super League is an entirely different subject that isn’t across the whole of World Football as VAR is and throwing the European Super League into the mix re VAR only muddies the VAR discussions.
However to answer your question and just imo a European Super League couldn’t come about without the agreement of UEFA in co operation with the PL and the FA.
Obviously measuring offside by the feet doesn’t solve all the problems re VAR and offsides but it would be a step in the right direction imo and it wouldn’t have ruled out the Hanford goal yesterday that started this whole debate off again.
Having said that no changes can be implemented until the Summer and very much I doubt it will happen.

8th November 2020 at 3:15 pm #169865AnonymousIMO There really is no difference between those calling VAR a joke and those who used to call Referee’s a joke. Now its about how penalties are being awarded as opposed to how they were being awarded when a ref made the decision. Whats the difference other than raging against a machine.

8th November 2020 at 3:16 pm #169866AnonymousSean, its about this period Jose will have a massive defeat against a side and throw all caution to the win and Make bale a overlapping left full back playing behind regulon! The bubbles have been seen going to North London in the last couple of weeks that were long term stored in the Stamford bridge car park. π

8th November 2020 at 3:17 pm #169867I think you’re wrong Pagan but it’s a pointless debate because the PL aren’t looking to declare UDI re VAR. All the major Leagues in world football work to IFAB rules and the FA have a seat on IFAB as do the other three home nations.
“FIFA has taken full operational control of Video Assistant Referees [VARs], world football’s governing body has informed all associations.
Mattias Grafstrom, FIFA’s deputy general secretary for football, told all 211 associations in a letter on June 29.
The International Football Association Board [IFAB], football’s lawmakers, have previously worked closely with FIFA on the development and implementation of VAR in all competitions, including technological matter, training and education.
FIFA has taken full control of VAR
Grafstrom’s letter states: “We are proud that the introduction of VARs has been a universal success, with the implementation of the VAR system now complete in over 100 competitions globally.“Following the successful launch period where FIFA worked in conjunction with The IFAB, we would like to inform you that all VAR-related activities will now transfer to FIFA.”

8th November 2020 at 3:27 pm #169871Nine, I have been too. In the same breath, I’m a little taken aback and slightly deterred from the VAR decisions which does concern me, but I guess we just have to allow nature run it’s course and hope for the best.

8th November 2020 at 3:35 pm #169875442, itβs not really the decisions that are bothering me about var mate. Itβs the disruption of the game as a spectacle. Itβs ruining it
Long delays , canβt celebrate goals etc
Itβs crap . It really is and Iβd take going back to the old way tomorrow…no bother

8th November 2020 at 3:38 pm #169877Encouraged by this starting line up. We need to contain Jesus and Sterling. Silva is on the Bench. We have a Top-Heavy Attack. we score first and I believe we have every chance.

8th November 2020 at 4:33 pm #169884That bit about VAR was taken from the laws of the game 2020, itβs optional for a league to use it, otherwise it would have to be used in all leagues. I would say that UEFA and the PL have opted to use it…..Pagan
