17th October 2020 at 2:31 pm #168496AnonymousI’ve never felt such a sense of injustice watching a match as today. Liverpool have got to demand answers.

17th October 2020 at 2:34 pm #168497No comebacks. The technology rules. But even then heis LEVEL. Total nonsense and we had a few last year…VAR cost us dearly last season.

17th October 2020 at 2:35 pm #168498AnonymousHe is level Adlab, I’m honestly surprised that you’re not saying he’s off tho 😛 .. but light hearted joking aside, this was an absolute disgrace of a match. it’s so bad that i think the club have got to do something about it. There are decisions that go against you but then there is a team who is just trying to make sure your players don’t play another match that season, getting away with it… and being robbed of a perfectly legit winner by Stevie Wonder at the VAR desk.
I don’t think we should even show up for the next game. We’d literally be better off.

17th October 2020 at 2:35 pm #168499We have deficiencies still defensively. I can’t make a proper assessment of it though as I was late coming in and watching effectively through a stream cutting in and out.
What’s encouraging is that we’re showing signs of our old selves. We were good for all 3 points. Just needed that little bit of luck in a game like this. Sure Everton have improved, but we really should have won this.
Let’s see how the other results pan out.

17th October 2020 at 2:35 pm #168500Same as firminos goal at villa last season.
Very good game. I have to say. Wasn’t our day with vvd injury and late goal disallowed but that’s a very tough game
Thiago is an absolute joy to watch. Very very early days and it’s going to be a very competitive season
Btw if the whistle goes then you knock someone out is that not a red card?
Pickford and Richardlson could have ended Careers there. Pickford I’ve no doubt didn’t mean it. Genuine player but Richardlson is dirty and he’s mucky he didn’t catch him fully

17th October 2020 at 2:38 pm #168501I thought these 1 cm offsides were supposed to be given a bit more leeway now? Here’s an idea, you let the game be refereed by the eye – like the game was designed to be refereed because it exists in something called the real world, and if a video checks there’s been a howler, you correct it. Get these bureaucrats out our game…

17th October 2020 at 2:38 pm #168503Everton always play dirty. They sign all these players yet they still play rough football. We looked stronger with Thiago. Have to see developments on Van Dijk how serious his injury is.

17th October 2020 at 2:42 pm #168504AnonymousSean, I do think Pickford meant it myself, he wrapped the other leg around. That’s the intent right there for me. I know keepers generally do not know how to tackle and this is the only reason I have any doubt, so Im not saying Im sure or anything but ya, Richarlison 100% wanted to seriously injure Thiago and there’s no bloody doubt about that.
It was a great game in some ways but it’s been utterly ruined for me, you lads are taking it very well, I am really really not. What i saw was totally unacceptable and I know nothing will be done but there should be some action taken.
Where is the protection for players or integrity of the game? Both have fallen foul of the absolutely hamfisted attempt to implement VAR. Could they have done this ina worse manner? It would take a damn fine effort to have ****ed these rules or that match up worse.

17th October 2020 at 2:50 pm #168506Pagan, doesn’t matter that the whistle went. It’s a horrendous challenge. If the whistle goes and I two foot someone in the chest I won’t get sent off cause the whistle had gone?
Ridiculous. Career ending challenge and he should have been sent off. Doesn’t matter the whistle has gone. No pen as whistle gone but sending off as it’s a horrific challenge
Whistle went when Richardlson lunged at Thiago yet he was sent off. Two horrible disgusting challenges
Thiago is very very lucky

17th October 2020 at 2:51 pm #168507Bit of context and perspective is that we come back from International break, but looked motivated considering we were leathered 7-2. Away from home, Mersey derby and with a more improved and strengthened Everton.
We led twice too and in all reality, that game was won.
It’s not a question of wanting wriggle room for offsides, it’s more about being pedantic for millimeters.
At least now, others can’t complain about Liverpool being favoured.

17th October 2020 at 2:56 pm #168509Sean, I’ve capitulated on pay per view.😊 It was a bad tackle could maybe should have been a red but I don’t think Pickford was looking to hurt Van Dijk. Good game as you say.
Liverpool look like a Rolls Royce going forwards but defensively they look a bit all over the place but losing VVD and Alisson has that effect.

17th October 2020 at 2:59 pm #168510I think law wise its a case of dangerous play after the whislte rather than violent conduct which doesn’t matter if the ball is in play or not. Dangerous play can only happen when the ball is in play which it wasn’t due to the offside. I think anyway!
You could argue it could open up the opportunity for the more devious player to leave a boot in after they have heard the whislte or know they are offside. Surprised Suarez or Diego Costa haven’t thought of this yet!

17th October 2020 at 3:03 pm #168511Sean, unfortunately it does, you can’t be booked for an attempted challenge if the ball isn’t technically in play, you can be pulled up for violent conduct though, but in order to do that you have to be sure that there was no attempt to win the ball and their was just intent to take the player. As I’ve said I’m watching the cricket so haven’t seen it yet, I take it the ref bottled it ant left it to VAR crowd and didn’t review it himself.
Whether it’s right or wrong, they’re the laws of the game.

17th October 2020 at 3:57 pm #168512Never really seen refereeing like this in my life before. I’m surprised too by Michael Oliver. Should have been a red for Pickford, a penalty and Henderson’s goal should have stood. Everton had it all their way effectively.

17th October 2020 at 4:11 pm #168514If I supported Liverpool I’d be fuming that Henderson’s goal wasn’t allowed. No way that was an offside.
I honestly think VAR is a joke. It sucks everything out of the game. I’d rather have the refs making a few mistakes during the course of a season than this shitshow.
All those stops during games. It’s becoming an American sport. Awful. And when it can’t even get a clear cut decision like the Henderson goal right, then it’s hard to see the argument why it should be used at all._____________________________

17th October 2020 at 4:13 pm #168515Nil, the game has to stop at the first offence, no one has questioned the offside for the Pickford challenge, so I presume it was definitely offside, therefore that’s where the game stopped, and as I’ve already said a poor challenge although a foul can’t be acted upon unless it’s judged to be violent conduct.
As for the VAR for the offside, last season as I am this season and will be for evermore, I don’t want it and endlessly wrote so, it seemed at times it was only me and Chuckles that held that view as apparently offside was black or white, you were either on or off, as I remember Nil you were quite a fan of it…..Pagan
