7th October 2020 at 4:56 pm #168224All the supporters want is a team that wins, what happens in other countries is I believe far from the mind in the majority of cases. I guess we do not want to bore our forum members though woith political thoughts, as I said before, it is first and foremost a football forum

7th October 2020 at 5:34 pm #168226AnonymousBrian, I would be more inclined to agree with the Ed on this one. That isn’t to say that I entirely disagree with your stance. for example, it was actually only when Pep came along that I truly respected City because what he did was obviously on a solid pile of cash as a foundation but he had what I know myself was the best team in the world for a year or 2. If people want to disagree with that then by all means but City were breath-taking and all the money in the world doesn’t buy you such a unified, slick end product.
However, I do still care about how other clubs are run, for all sorts of reasons but in City’s case, their sponsorship deal is, to put it delicately, extremely suspect. I definitely do not want a club who thinks they can do what they want… even if the rules ultimately say they actually kinda can (thanks UEFA, good job). As for politics, I guess we can agree to disagree but I am just glad that it isnt my club that’s associated/owned by certain types.
The above is no reflection on the fans.

7th October 2020 at 6:30 pm #168227Echo that Mak. I have nothing but respect for the likes of Brian and the rest of the City fans on here and beyond. None of us can choose who owns our clubs

7th October 2020 at 6:53 pm #168228Interesting views.
Due to covid and no crowds the whole nature of the game changes.
Its clear that ALREADY many clubs have major financial difficulties not least Real and Barca. Given they take most of theTV money what about the rest of La liga?Whag about our EFL ETC.

7th October 2020 at 7:47 pm #168229OK Mak..take your view and respect. I just did not like politics and human rights being brought into a football forum, Ed, I think you had a point to make and you made it, if I agree or not does not matter, but political statements or aqusations should not be part of a football forum. That is my last word on the subject. There are more important things to be concerned about

7th October 2020 at 9:25 pm #168239๐ Mav, haha, as it’s you my Dear Good Friend, I’ll let you off. But Good Post Mate. Life’s too serious enough with day-to-day Domestics, Family, Work, Bills etc.
Breeds the subject that when players are selected to play for the National Team, they in my view really don’t recognize what it means. I feel for Gareth Southgate.

7th October 2020 at 9:32 pm #168240Brian, hope you’re Good. I can imagine how may be feeling. Like practically everyone I’d like to think, we all truly Value your Input here.
Bit of light humour from me, I’m ultra glad this week I’m on a 6 day. I’m trying to avoid watching the internationals, but knowing me, I’ll in the end find a way to check the result and gather an insight.
We just deep down care a little too much I think for our own good.

7th October 2020 at 10:03 pm #168241Nine I am just going to concentrate on my music for a while, which means I will be orchestrating Blue Moon about 30 times in different guises. I have two keyboards to master each with its own and different operating systems so its hard work for an old fella like me I will pop by and put an odd post in as and when. Have just lost the feeling for football for now, good posters on here that should keep things ticking over.Goodluck to all the teams and fans. I also didsome collabaration work with a singer in Italy and for a first attempt we did OK. I do not think I am in top 10000 though!!!!

9th October 2020 at 8:07 am #168257Watched highlights of our game abd Utd game again and the defending was just shambolic
Vvd night start to be believing the hype about him but heโs been very average for a while now
As highly as I rate Gomez, heโs been awful since the football started back in June.
Last week, people were saying liveroool were unstoppable. You canโt judge anything after 3 games. That was coming for Liverpool
This playing out from the back by the teams is crazy especially since the opposition can come into the 18 yard box
You would have to worry about Liverpool at Everton next week

9th October 2020 at 10:05 am #168260I think it has to be put down as just a freak result Sean. That back 5 at Liverpool includes probably 4 of the best players in the world in their respective positions in VVD, Allison, TAA and Robertson and Gomez isn’t a bad defender by any stretch.
VVD is the best defender in the world. As you say, there’s a risk he’s started to believe his own hype as he’s definitely had a dip starting from the last few games of last season. As I’ve said on here before, whilst I think VVD is head and shoulders above anyone else in his position, I still don’t think he’s close to the likes of Terry, Rio, Campbell, Kompany etc. If he gets back the level he was at 12 or so months ago and stays there for a good few years, winning more trophies along the way, he’d definitely start to be in that conversation, though (the best ever CBs in the league).
Going to an in-form Everton side is probably not the fixture Liverpool would choose to get back on track, but, usually, it doesn’t matter what form Everton are in as they tend to just roll over for Liverpool either way. A second defeat in a row would be concerning. A win, however, would have people forgetting the 7-2 pretty sharpish.

9th October 2020 at 12:08 pm #168264Yeh Sean, as I just put on TT, Van Dijkโs twitter feed says a lot – just two days before the Villa game he tweeted a picture of him celebrating last seasonโs title win and not long before that tweeting pics of all his individual awards before the CL draw. One minute heโs tweeting how focussed he is, the next losing saying how the team must learn lessons together…all shortly before showing off again. And then the cycle repeats. Itโs an absolute nonsense but sums up as you say that heโs running on his hype now. Not one ounce of leadership in that Villa game, he just disappeared. Just do your speaking on the pitch, get off Twitter and have some humility.

9th October 2020 at 12:34 pm #168265Ed, Some really bizarre goals. Few deflections and everything that found wrong, went wrong. I said before the start of the season, I donโt believe we are as good defensively as some make out. We concede a fair few chances per game and that high line is a guaranteed chance to the opposition every game
Iโd call it a freak result but crazy talk before the game that the league was over. No way and the league is so bizarre at the minute that no one has any idea who will finish in the top 4.
