Utd are building a young side and rarely go for players at that age group (unless short term fixes) so I just can’t see Utd going for Kane for that kind of money. Besides, if he’s leaving to win trophies, he’s not going to be looking at Utd as a place where he’s guaranteed that is he? This is his last big chance to win the big trophies. That is far from guaranteed at Utd in the coming 2-3 yrs during which Kane will be at his peak.
With Cavani having signed for another season, Greenwood likely being a future number 9 and Charlie McNeill knocking on the door of the senior side, us being desperate for a right sided player, a CB and a defensive mid, everything points to Utd not being a good fit for Kane. The bookies have City as favourites for a reason lads. Don’t get me wrong. I’d love Kane. He’s probably the best striker in the world. It’s just simply not a good fit.
It’s quite interesting what Kane said about Jose.

21st May 2021 at 11:00 pm #179487I just wonder if Kane has left this move too late?

21st May 2021 at 11:05 pm #179488As in too late in his career Mikus? I suspect the same. Levy is supposedly furious with him for doing this interview with Neville and that’s never a good way to start a negotiation regarding being allowed to move on.
The more I think about the fees involved and the clubs who may have that kind of money, the more I just can’t see a feasible move out there for him. Lukaku looks better value in all honesty. Then there’s Haaland available next summer for much less than Kane is being quoted for now. The move doesn’t make a great deal of sense for anyone really.

21st May 2021 at 11:32 pm #179489Yeh Ed, it’s almost as though Levy appointed Mourinho to appease the likes of Kane and make out that bigger things would be around the corner because of the aura of Jose. But you obviously have to look at other things beyond that because there are other factors you need to have big success. And a 26 year old Kane would be that bit more attractive than a 28 year old one, particularly when English players tend to command big transfer fees and we’re talking about the England captain here. It’s almost like he’s now too big to move.

22nd May 2021 at 12:16 am #179491That’s not a bad shout Mikus, it does seem like he’s left it a bit too late. Maybe Chucky gets his wish and Kane stays at Spurs. I think I’d like to see him stay at Spurs and be a 1 club legend; we don’t see enough of them in the game anymore.

22nd May 2021 at 8:38 am #179492Ed, I think someone in the PL will be prepared to pay the circa £150m plus that Levy will want probably not all cash but topped up with player exchanges.
There won’t be a better striker available this Summer of course he will have no resale value which is a downside and he’s a bit injury prone with his ankles but his goals will more than compensate for all of that.
I’m with Sean if Kane wants to go just let him go it doesn’t matter where he goes as long as Levy gets the value he wants into the Club from the transfer, Kane has given great service to Spurs and deserves a shot at competing for and winning trophies on a regular basis and the fact that he hasn’t/wont at Spurs is primarily down to Levy not backing Poch when Spurs were on an upward curve and now they need rebuilding.
The interview with Neville is a strange one with Kane being as explicit as he has been about wanting to leave Spurs which was bound to cause problems with Levy but none of us know what’s gone on previously maybe Kane has got written confirmation from last Summer signed by Levy that he can go this Summer if Spurs were still not challenging for trophies. Nobody can blame a player of his ability wanting to win trophies.
I think things have gone too far now for Kane to stay at Spurs after that interview and he’s already confirmed he doesn’t want to play abroad at this stage of his career I still think City are favourites and a few months into the season when Kane is banging the goals in for City even at £150m City fans will be declaring it was another master stroke by Pep with yet more trophies tumbling their way.
It won’t happen but like you I would take Kane at Chelsea in a heartbeat.😊

22nd May 2021 at 8:50 am #179493Kane or even a freebie like Augero would do for any top club, I don’t trust Haaland cause his doing it in a much easier league same as Werner was, not to say he want be successful but it’s a huge risk for that amount.

22nd May 2021 at 9:10 am #179495Notnice, Haaland has 20 goals in 16 Champions League games. Werner has 11 in 25. Huge difference regardless of what they were both doing in Germany. I wouldn’t see Haaland as a big risk at all. Every transfer is a risk, of course, but you try to balance the risk. Even Kane is a risk with his injury problems. Especially at around twice the price of Haaland (next summer).
P.S too early to write Werner off regardless IMO

22nd May 2021 at 11:58 am #179508Nine…what may happen is City have somene else in mind, declare a “no interest” in Kane. ,then watch his price drop when City are out of it, as long as City are linked Levy can keep his asking price high. If plan does not work for him he will have lost big style because unless another team picks him up for less he will have an unhappy player on his hands and no money in the Bank

22nd May 2021 at 2:01 pm #179514Brian, we’re talking about Daniel Levy here Brian who is no mug and doesn’t really want Kane to go anyway and Levy knows that there are more Clubs than City interested in Kane all of which who are capable of buying him even at £150m.
I think things will begin to get clearer after Sunday but I doubt a deal will get done with whoever before the Euros but it can’t go on too long as Spurs need to get their own player plans in place for next season.

22nd May 2021 at 5:06 pm #179515Nine..levy may well be a master negotiator but he has a team of players and some do not want to play for him, so where does that leave him? The position will get worse for Levy I think, he has yet to find a Manager, Star player wants to leave, he will need a bit more than money management to save next season already. I do hope Spurs sort it out though for Chuky’s sake!!!!

22nd May 2021 at 5:31 pm #179517Brian, undoubtedly Spurs are currently in a tough position and the Kane situation has added to that.
Seemingly if City come calling Kane is happy to go there.
My point really was that I think more than just City are interested in Kane and they have the resources to buy him but if Pep wants him I think he’ll get him although I also think one or two others will be prepared to pay the circa £150m he may cost.
I also think the situation has gone too far now for both Spurs and Kane to kiss and make up and Kane for everyone’s sake needs to go now but it is and will be a complicated transfer imo, it will probably involve player exchanges and they have to be happy to go to Spurs which adds to the complications as well as a lot of money and wherever Kane goes I will be suprised if it gets done quickly and a further complication is that Levy is known to be a very difficult person to negotiate with as anyone involved with him in transfer negotiations will confirm.
Time will tell.

22nd May 2021 at 7:02 pm #179519AnonymousThankfully Atheltico Madrid just won their league. Can’t handle Real Madrid purely cause they always get so much assistance from officials.

22nd May 2021 at 7:39 pm #179521Nine…one thing we can agree on is this is and will be far too protracted to be of continued interest. Yes, others can find the cash I am sure besides City plus P/ex. but as god a player that he is, other options do exist and I still think City will pass this one by at the assumed price

22nd May 2021 at 8:02 pm #179523Maybe City will pass Brian, City’s requirement is probably not as great as some but I’m not sure there are other players going to be available of the quality of Kane in his position and tbh I can’t think of any that will be buyable this Summer but there will be young players out there to take a chance on.
Be delighted if City don’t buy Kane though as it would just take them even further away from everyone else which isn’t good for the PL as a whole. Personally I think a Kane transfer will be a slow burner and we will probably see very little movement until after next weekend.

Good to dwell on the fact that Chelsea beat Atletico home and away in the CL this season.

22nd May 2021 at 8:06 pm #179525Nine…also worth noteing that City have scored more goals than any other team this season to date, without a recognised centre forward, so I think we will be patient and wait for the right signing, in the meantime get another strong attacking midfielder because Fernandinho maybe not with us next season but if, as I hope, he is, will be used carefully. Same goes for Gungdogan who is also needs a little more care, He has done remarkably well this season and does knit the others in very well. It could also be true to say with a decent centre forward we would have passed 100 goals with ease. Mid season I would have even brought Dzeko back!

Ha, ha true enough Brian.
There aren’t many players that could improve City but Harry Kane is one of them imo but of course it’s only Pep’s opinion that will count.😊
