Adlab. it would probably make sense but I guess he will try and find out if he is up to a big CF or nor not Fernanhiho will go in, if not, Rodri, we can get other midfielders to do a job but I think I would also trust a youngster as well from what I have seen

9th May 2022 at 6:15 pm #195956One more thing, the Kane failure last season could now seriously be City’s gain. Close to 10 years younger. A crazy record when it comes to goals. He has his injuries but best years are ahead of him. City are a scary prospect next season surely

9th May 2022 at 6:15 pm #195953I’m still here watching my beloved childhood club by the hardwork and dedication of Sir Alex for years crumble in a blink of an eye. As a Man Utd fan I was so gutted when Fergie left. And my worst fear came true.
Finally after 10 years I feel very confident ETH would transform us into a team in four transfer windows or in 3yrs. No matter the outcome, I will back him for 3 yrs as I did with Ole.
This is the realistic Manchester United squad I would like to see in ETH’s first season
GK: de Gea, Henderson, Heaton
RB: Dalot, Tariq Lamptey (36m)β
CB: Varane, Lindelof, Pau Torres (55m)β , Timber (40m)β
LB: Shaw, Brandon Williams
CM: McTominay, Fred, Garner, Tchouameni (60m)β , Declan Rice (100m)β
CAM: Fernandes, Mjbril, VDB
RW: Sancho, Anthony (55m)β
LW: Rashford, Elanga, Chong
CF: Darwin Nunes (75m) β , CR7, GreenwoodOut (free): Pogba β, Matic β, Mata β, Cavani β, Lingard β
Out (sell): Maguire β, Martial β, Bailly β, Telles β, Jones β, AWB β, Amad β_____________________________

9th May 2022 at 7:12 pm #195960Huge statement signing the Haaland one. City was always the most likely destination for him considering his Dad’s ties to the club and their budget as well as their high potential for trophies. Real Madrid seemed like the only club who could compete but with Benzema going from strength to strength recently and City missing a number 9, City was the last man standing.
Huge total financial package at the reported quarter of a Β£billion with all the agents fees and salaries and bonuses involved. Always the case with players from the late Mino Raiola. However, City are securing one of the highest rated young players in world football. Makes a lot more sense than the Kane deal did last season though it will be interesting to see if Haaland can replicate his goalscoring stats in the PL. A tough ask but he’ll get tons of services that’s for sure.
Great signing for City and the league. A very worrying signing for City’s rivals who are already lightyears behind City, Liverpool aside. They really should be walking the league and CL from now on!

No I am not on the windup. Although Greenwood is suspended by United, he has always been listed on United’s website since his arrest. I don’t condone any kind of assault and violence against others, and wish Greenwood has handled his career and life in a classy manner. But, I believe in a presumption of innocence until he is proven guilty. Having said all that, if a court does find him guilty, then shame on him. Throw away the key. But we have to leave things like this to the courts, not public opinion.

RE: βThey really should be walking the league and CL from now on!βI agree City are scary next season with Halaand and they already been winning the league by record margins for the past 4-5 seasons. But I donβt agree with your assertion that they would be walking the UCL with Halaand. They couldnβt do it with Aguero (arguably the best striker in the PL era), so we have to wait and see how Halaand gets on. Mbappe is a better player than Halaand IMO.

9th May 2022 at 8:31 pm #195965I think Haarland will find the PL difficult in first season, in saying that CBs will be cautious about his abilities. Patience is required, he is still young. Playing with KDB, Gundogan Bernado will help. I do expect a major signing in midfield though since we shall loose Fernandinho, some boots to fill there, brilliant footballer in that position

9th May 2022 at 8:36 pm #195966Tower…I think Utd will take the same view as City will do with Mendy….they will be out of the club. The Clubs status/image is more important than any linkage and sponsors will have a view

9th May 2022 at 9:20 pm #195967Pep’s jumped to the wrong conclusions. His tone was probably sort of lighthearted but even though it’s not his problem, the bigger picture in context of the PL is that Man City could be on their way to winning Title number 4 in 4 years.
The points total achieved is freakish. Even if Liverpool finish on a maximum 92 points, that’s not enough for them to win the title. They are and have been in most recent times, Man City’s closest challengers.
A question mark on Chelsea, but the others are just not up to scratch. It’s therefore untrue that every other person wants Liverpool to win. It’s that they don’t want Man City every single year.
The Halland signing from a neutral point of view essentially kicks the can down the road of any hope in generate more competition or fairer competition.

I didnβt follow the Mendy case but the allegations portrayed upon Greenwood are very serious and if it is true he shouldnβt play anymore and he will get what he deserves a worthy sentence. But, as I said, it’s important we don’t pre-judge this. Let this be a trial by a jury, not by public opinion. Greenwood is truly innocent until proven guilty in the eyes of the law and really should be.

Pep must have been enjoying some of that nice Catalan beer before he said that. A lot of neutral football fans have no preference and just enjoy the excruciating title race between Liverpool and City. As a Utd fan, I certainly do not want Liverpool to win the Premier League. However, I do not want City to win it either π

RE: βThe Halland signing from a neutral point of view essentially kicks the can down the road of any hope in generate more competition or fairer competitionβ
What do you mean by fairer competition?
Is it because of City signing a very good striker for a reasonable price of β¬65m? Man City have lacked an Aguero and this guy is a replacement. Do you think it was fair for the competition when Liverpool signed Luis Diaz in January? You should know the Toons are also now in town. This is going to be the trend across. Letβs not forget Liverpool’s foundation of success in recent years is built on major signings.

9th May 2022 at 11:10 pm #195972TOB,
I think with Newcastle, that whole vision will take a good 5 years. They need to able to lure top quality players, but better still, they need solid foundations with the right managers, coaching staff and investment in youth development.
United need to go down this path in similar to get back on track.
I know at times City have won games 1 or 2 nil. But they’ve blitz teams away suggesting in my view, they don’t need a striker. What does that say about the existing Jesus, Sterling and Mahrez? For me, their catalyst has been KDB, Bernardo, Foden and Rodri. Grealish for the 100 million in his first season hasn’t really imposed as a figure that you would place ahead of the other guys.
What happened with Ferran Torres? I don’t think he fitted into the way City play. Their best is similar to like as a 4-3-3.
On the point of competition, factually, City have won more titles in the last few years with only realistic challenge coming from Liverpool. If this is the general trend, then from a neutral point of view, this may as well be the SPL, La Liga or the Bundesliga. The difference with City against the others is that they’re head an shoulders when it comes to spending. They can effectively buy who they want.

10th May 2022 at 3:13 am #195973Yeah, I’ll believe it when I see it about Haaland performing in the Prem. We see it time and time again, top performing strikers in other leagues and struggling in the Prem. Interestingly when Lukaku was being touted as signing for Chelsea this time last year, the narrative was about a striker who has already performed in the Prem. The part of the story they didn’t tell though was about a striker who never performed against the top sides. His record against top 6 sides was and always has been awful.
There really are very few top foreign strikers to have killed our league who were banging them in for fun before they arrived here. Even Aguero and Henry weren’t prolific before they came to England. Henry had only scored 9 goals in this most prolific season before joining Arsenal (I know he was really a winger back then, but still valid point I think). Aguero did a lot better, he scored 20 goals in his last season at Atletico, which for La Liga is pretty low, as the top sides score goals for fun in that league. For all the Van Persies, Agueros, Henry and Drogbas successes of this world there are plenty of Moratas, Schevchenkos, Lukakus, Brolins, Rebrovs, Hallers, Kezmans, Falcaos, Soldados, Higuains, Sukers, Kluiverts, Depays, Forlans, Morientes

10th May 2022 at 8:34 am #195977Just a small point purely on transfer fees in and out.
Last season net spend about Β£60m,
I suspect this season net spend won’t be massively more. So yes City do have the spending power but the net spend in the last few seasons hasn’t been massive. Its been more one in one out approach (not literally).
This is the approach SAF used to take once the team had been established. It was similar with Arsenal and Liverpool under Shankly and to an extent under Klopp. But nothing is forever unless you are in Germany._____________________________
