Spot on Brian and owners will only sell when 1) they decide they want to sell and 2) the price is right and demonstrations won’t cut it with owners who are sitting in their Mansions three thousand miles away.
Match now postponed. Going to be difficult to find a date now.

2nd May 2021 at 5:44 pm #178475Roy Keane claims cars have been turned over around United’s team Hotel. That’s just not acceptable!

2nd May 2021 at 5:44 pm #178476Could possibly something else triggered behind the scenes in light of the protests coupled quite simply with the effect of the disruption on the players’ routines, pre-match meal etc.
Don’t know where they’ll fit this one in.
Hope this doesn’t spiral on to other Teams (none of which fortunately hasn’t occurred so far).

2nd May 2021 at 5:50 pm #178477Nil, If fans of other Clubs have got problems with their owners then protests like this are likely. We saw big protests by Arsenal fans this week against the ownership of Stan Kroenke.
These have been specifically anti owner protests against two specific owners.

2nd May 2021 at 5:50 pm #178478I disagree with those of you thinking this won’t make difference. This has been local match-going fans who have completely disrupted a match between two of the organisers of the European Super League and the Big 6 project; what today has proved is that even small numbers of supporters can completely disrupt football if they organise themselves, and club owners and UEFA need to stop ignoring season ticket holders and match-going fans in favour of TV audiences abroad. Well done those fans today.

2nd May 2021 at 5:54 pm #178481Mike, first time I’ve disagreed with any of your posts.😊
But United fans and Arsenal fans have been protesting against the Glazers and Kroenke for a long long while these last demonstrations are much much broader than just the ESL.

2nd May 2021 at 5:59 pm #178483Idiots. What should have been a perfectly fine and understandable protest has now been overshadowed by an idiotic minority.
Award the game to Liverpool. They shouldn’t have unnecessary fixture congestion because of this

2nd May 2021 at 6:00 pm #178484To clarify, I’m completely supportive of the protests but some of those scenes go beyond protests.

2nd May 2021 at 6:01 pm #178485I’m with Souness from what I’ve just listened to over the last 5-10 mins or so.
It’s Security and Safety that’s been breached and really come under the spotlight. Flares can really be damaging to a person. Beer Bottles, Cans hitting somebody’s head when thrown ferociously.
There is always a minority diluted that’s going to go from one extreme to another and risk safety. This is what I loathe about any protest because somebody innocent gets caught up in this and hurt.
I support the concept, just not in this fashion and manner.

2nd May 2021 at 6:05 pm #178486That’s not going to happen though Ed and you open a very big can of worms when you start awarding games to clubs on the back of a demonstration. United fans had every right to protest against the owners, owners they want out of their Club unfortunately it went to far.
And awarding the points to clubs without playing games could impact negatively on other Clubs too.
I don’t think Liverpool have too many problems with fixture congestion even United only have 5 PL games and a EL Semi Final 2 nd leg to play.

2nd May 2021 at 6:06 pm #178487Nine, I don’t disagree at all with those points.
Unfortunately within that vicinity there are individuals out there that are ‘live wires’ and need to be caught by the Police. Turning over Vehicles for example. That’s just a pure act of violence and criminal damage – achieves nothing from a protest POV.

2nd May 2021 at 6:08 pm #178489I’m not sure if the Premier League could exercise and sanction a Points Award to Liverpool. Would that entail point deduction to United for the disruption?
The disruption I’m sure has costed too financially.

2nd May 2021 at 6:09 pm #178490Hey Nine, you are right that these protests run deeper than the ESL but that is clearly the trigger for all of the recent protests at Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea. For clarity I’m not condoning throwing bottles (or anything else) by a few idiots out of the thousands that were present. This is why I’m no longer too worried about an ESL, this is what I expect will happen before numerous games if those proposals are ever enacted, fans simply will not allow such a competition to take place.

2nd May 2021 at 6:12 pm #178492On a light note if I may, sorry Mike and Brian, no Title this week 🙂 🙂
We probably would have lost or at best earn a draw. Weekend not spoiled as such 😉

2nd May 2021 at 6:15 pm #178494Mike, any ESL breakaway is dead in the water imo and so it should be. I said earlier the ESL was the catalyst for these latest demonstrations but Chelsea fans don’t want to get rid of their owner United and Arsenal fans do and they’ve been protesting against their owners for years.

2nd May 2021 at 6:17 pm #178496One of the protesters on the OT pitch had a banner which said ” you can buy our Club but you can’t buy our hearts and souls”.
