If Laporte has a problem, he is an old fashioned CB and tackles hard, he does pick up yellow cards but I bet Spurs would have him in there team and others. He is not a malicious or dirty player though, the cards he picks up are usually for the team. What failed Spurs today was the tactics and players not the Referee, We know they are capable of better than this, so why, for a Final?

25th April 2021 at 6:47 pm #178188Chuky…re free kicks….if you had Laporte and Dias in defence you would not worry about sending the free kicks in so much!!!!! Re Sterling….you should know by now, Sterling does like to sit down and a sandwich and a cuppa inbetween missing opportunities. I thought Spurs would have been happy to see him in the team!!!!! All over, lets try again next season.
PS. Did Kane and Son play to day? HaHa? Please keep hold of Kane_____________________________

25th April 2021 at 7:08 pm #178192Don’t worry Double B, we all know even if you did lose, you’ll just go out and spend another half a billion on players and 50 million on lawyers to declare your “innocence”… hows the neck? Reckon it must be sore from all that turning the other cheek with your owners… 🙂
Glady keep hold of Kane, thanks for the advice!

25th April 2021 at 7:38 pm #178196Brian, I think you’ve answered a question we didn’t ask. It doesn’t matter if he’s old fashioned, not malicious, not dirty, would get in the Spurs side ,only fouls to take one for the team, and Spurs were poor we know, …………………..he should not have been on the pitch , as I said earlier the ref bottled the easiest decision of the game & will be very fortunate to ref another final.

25th April 2021 at 7:38 pm #178197SEAN. I did not see it live, I was listening to the match commentary , the reporter there was saying he was lucky but sometimes they are given and other times not. Was just commenting on Laporte as a player and person. I will look at the match to morrow hopefully

25th April 2021 at 7:39 pm #178198If the same team’s winning the way Man United had a stranglehold in the mid 1990s, then something is seriously wrong in the game in relation to competition.
We’ve got lots of money making facets out there.
We need both the FA Cup and The League Cup a ‘Facelift’; talked about and made a fuss off. They are trophies and they count towards your overall success in Silverware.

25th April 2021 at 7:43 pm #178199Shiney…my above comments give you my take on what i listened to. I will watch the match and if as bad as you say, I would be the first to admit it.
The question then would be if you had done any better against 10 men? No guarantee of that from what I listened to_____________________________

25th April 2021 at 8:01 pm #178202Chuky….the necks fine although it was a bit sore when I tried to head an orange into the basket like Laporte!!!!
Tired formula about City Chuky, you are better than that. There have been enough world class accountants poring over City’s books and came up with nothing. You would think with all that expertise they would find at least a parking ticket unaccounted for. Yes,we are wealthy , for this era, it will be somebody else for the next era with another club just as it was going back in time to other dominant era.s. Do you remember Jack Walker, great guy, brfore then there was the North East Emperors at Sunderland and Newcastle all proportionally big. There are many more of course. I never let it concern me because I always know change is never far away and so you must enjoy what you have to day. The Shiek to his credit has done a great service to Manchester outside as well as inside the Club and people do not see this, Mancunians do_____________________________

25th April 2021 at 8:08 pm #178203Brian, fair point. I had to do a little bit of research 🙂 🙂
4 wins in succession from 1980 to 1984.
In human nature, if it’s a team or a player that one likes and hopes for, then nobody really feels it as such or bats an eyelid.
I have nothing against Man City. I like them. It’s Repetition and not being able to see the Underdog winning just to breed some joy into the sport.
Although at the time it was heartache, maybe for example Wimbledon winning the FA Cup in 1988 was something special for the FA Cup. Another example: Steve Davis and Joe Johnson 1986.

25th April 2021 at 8:10 pm #178204Brian, I look forward to your view after watching the game, I assumed you had watched the game, for that I apologise. And no we probably wouldn’t do any better against 10 , but it would have been interesting as well as just.

25th April 2021 at 8:29 pm #178206Tired because it’s true, Double B! Happy for the Mancunians who have benefited, pity the shiek doesn’t take so much “care” closer to home.

25th April 2021 at 8:32 pm #178207Commiserations to Shiney and Chucky you hung in there and as time went on I felt that Spurs might nick it.
On the Laporte situation they were both yellow cards but would Laporte have committed the second offence had he been booked for the first. We’ll never know that but I get the frustration.
Shame Aguero didn’t get on the pitch it would have been a fitting send off for him but Pep is single minded and just focussed on winning trophies.
Finally well done to all the City lads especially my old pal Brian he’s been through plenty of bad times with City and has supported City into the third tier, you’re team is a joy to watch the way they move the ball and very difficult to beat and you have a top top Manager.
You set the bar high for everyone there’s nothing wrong with that it’s up to the other Clubs to try and get up there alongside you consistently. No easy task hopefully we might see that in the next couple of seasons.😊
Adlab hope that helps buddie get well soon!

25th April 2021 at 8:46 pm #178211There seems to be a fair few comments about the Laporte tackles, and for the record, I think both were bookable offences. However, although I’ve not read all the posts, I’ve not seen one yet pertaining to the two ‘bookable’ offences committed by Regulon, one of which he received a yellow.
Not sure Spurs fans can have much argument, that was probably the most one sided cup final I’ve ever seen._____________________________

25th April 2021 at 8:52 pm #178213Nice, your view on City ,that way Nine. It is coming from the depths of lower tier football that many City fans just appreciate what we have. The owners could have picked any team in the world, for whatever reason the City of Manchester was the beneficiary and not just for football reasons. A lot of money had to be invested to put many wrongs right even before we got to players. Then we bought a lot of players for high amounts, the law of business is you never get them all right, so we had failures, managers changed but behind the scenes a new managerial structure took place which also made some high profile people move on. The sense from city fans then was, at last, our club was in the hands of people who knew what they were doing. To day we are debt free, Academy working well, we will see more youngsters coming through after Phil Foden so it will not always be mega stars but I am sure a mix When i look back to the days of Wild Wild in the 1940s through to now it is a remarkabkle story including the nightmare period of watching games like city v Southend./Macclesfield etc…that is why we appreciate what we have now

25th April 2021 at 8:53 pm #178214Teams won’t be exactly on equal levels of quality. What I am not seeing however is competition. Football is different to previous Generations in relation to Scope in Revenue that can be Generated and Invested.
Not having Supporters into the grounds for more than a year has made a significant impact on the outcome of Results.
I have Huge Resentment towards my own Team in the Attitude towards Domestic Cup Competitions.
Jose Mourinho would get you back then the Carling Cup, make no Mistake. He was for me Hugely missed today in Stature. He is a Winner, a True Winner. Daniel Levy has a lot to answer for placing a 29 year old in charge.
