23rd March 2021 at 3:52 pm #176802I donβt think said anything wrong Brian.with all respect, your response proves his point mate .
City are getting massive plaudits from everywhere. Media, pundits etc and the minute they are the darlings of the media. Absolutely nothing wrong with that
Klopp was the darling last year and could do not wrong. Now after two awful months the media and others are questioning absolutely everything about him.
Like last season, we were told peps city were finished which was just nonsense
Look
At the fallout ftom utds lose on Sunday. Doing absolutely brilliant. Going along fine and they are out of the fa cup and all Iβve been reading is negative press. The press are so fickle. If city donβt win the cl, the press lauding pep now, will be gunning for him big time

23rd March 2021 at 4:03 pm #176803That’s it Sean. Brian, I’ve no problem at all with City’s recognition. I think you’ve misunderstood me. They’re getting very much well-deserved praise and adulation. What I find bizarre is the reaction from the City fans, despite all that adulation. There seems to always be a feeling of the world being against City (among their fans). Uefa, referees, the media etc. It’s just not the case. This thread is testament to that. Talk of the quadruple in the media is instantly suspected to be the media trying to set City up for failure, as though they have an agenda against City when it’s just not the case.
As I said earlier, no problem at all with City getting the recognition they deserve. My point is I think City fans should be better at accepting the recognition and enjoying it rather than look for non-existent hidden agendas amongst all the praise.
As Sean says, the press are fickle and will jump on anything that sells papers. City are far from unique in that respect.

24th March 2021 at 11:08 am #176806Success!
My late father who watched City for goodness how many years and way before the last decade of success always used to say that since Munich they always had a good press almost no matter what.
We get reasonable press now but the knives are always being sharpened in case we lose one game,_____________________________

24th March 2021 at 1:00 pm #176809That’s the case for us all Adlab. Press are giving Klopp and Liverpool a real hammering now, as they did with Utd after the weekend. Anyway, can this International break be over soon so we can get back to club football? Feels even slower and longer now with everything else going on in the world, especially since we’ve had pretty much non-stop football for months.

24th March 2021 at 3:28 pm #176814ED…we are not going to fall out over this but you say you do not understand the reaction of the City fans…well that to me…is NOT the majority of City fans. We have always had a sceptical press as long as I have followed football and that will not change, I really do not care one iota about that and the City fans I know do not care about it either. I suspect you have listened to a few over sensitive City fans..this is not the majority of them. City’s biggest critics are there own fans not the media and where that comes from I do not know but I suspect “globalisation”. Peps era will pass soon enough and the wheel will keep turning….you never know…you maybe in for a OJS era with full presss backing!!!!!!

25th March 2021 at 7:22 am #176821Brian, I love reading your posts so I have no intention of falling out over anything like this. My posts are always meant in good spirit. I just like having a moan every now and again π
Of course you know more City fans than I do so I’m only going by the little I see and read.
I think as fans we all feel our clubs get bad press and are hard done by from time to time. We also all tend to feel rival clubs get favourable treatment. It’s simply confirmation bias at play the majority of the time. For example, I think City get incredibly kind cup draws all the time. Is that because I genuinely think there is something untoward going on? Of course not.
What you’ll slowly start to see as City start to win more is more and more resentment towards City and claims of them getting decisions that others wouldn’t and claims they get favourable press. It comes with the territory of being at the top for a long time. People see things that aren’t there because it fits their agenda.

25th March 2021 at 7:42 am #176822Generally hard to feel excited about anything at the moment. It all feels empty and in isolation. Hard to feel excited about England. Maybe I just don’t enjoy watching them play a whole 90 minutes, plus, when they’re aren’t certain individuals featuring in the team.
I don’t know what the next generation of England players is going to look like. I’d miss players like Sterling, Kane and Henderson.
They’re not that many individual characters and brilliance like there used to be.
I know we have to get things moving at some point, but an International Break during Lockdown restrictions when times are difficult and people out there are feeling depressed……

25th March 2021 at 10:09 am #176824Blaze…nothing short of a ruthless, mentally tough approach to this game is required, particularly with the opposition in mind
They should not treat this game as a training game._____________________________

25th March 2021 at 10:12 am #176825Agree about the lack of excitement and pandemic but Kane, Henderson and Sterling are not the future, we should be looking at the options now, although not many are obvious, probably about half a team as it stands

25th March 2021 at 10:33 am #176826Ed, well you are right about what the future may hold for City but here is my problem. I think the media promote this to sell the chip paper, left to fans it would not be as bad, still be there, but not as tribal or bias. This part of football depresses me. Fans, years ago, went to a game to enjoy football watch star players, from both teams and the media was responsible and articulate, alas all this has deteriorated over time. I sometimes think back and check if I am not remembering rhings through rose colored glasses but I still remember detain thankfully for my age!!! It was a better experience. Of course those days will never return. One thing I am thankful for is the modern stadiums. can any really be interested in all the statistics that accompany a game now?? This has become an industry within an industry. The laws of the game are so confusing because of there interpretation by players, match officials Var thats before you get to the “experts”
This may also impact on the potential for a global game because what we see here is different from Europe, Middle East. Far East and the Americas in the way games are interpreted by officials. What I do like though is the modern game has become more athletic, tactical (defense or attack) as against the old styles. Revie plan included, although it was never about Revie really_____________________________

25th March 2021 at 10:39 am #176827Tonight we should be seeing Foden, Mount etc and the rest of the youngsters. Nobody over 27. So an eye on the future against the lowest ranked team in world. Also Calverton Lewin, Saka, Stones etc.
This is an ideal opportunity.

25th March 2021 at 11:07 am #176830Brian, I would miss those players in particular. I’d be quite sad. I haven’t really come across a handful that I could say they interest me apart from Grealish and Foden.

25th March 2021 at 12:30 pm #176832Who are actually classed as Experts? On here for example over the Calendar year we’re expressing our thoughts and opinions. Knowledge too. Are we going to be paid for it?
No.
Aside those that have played the game and those who have gone through the study and have earned an accreditation and a good reputation over a long period of time, I personally would value their input.
The others on the other hand have a platform and a bandwagon to jump onto for a fast and an easy buck.
