Nil โ can I just say how refreshing it is to read one of your posts after a Liverpool defeat, and for it to be insightful, well written and sporting. Gone are the days of the Nil foul mouthed rants. Well done, sir, keep it up.
Seconded Nil well played buddie.

5th March 2021 at 11:48 am #176318Very similar to situation at Chelsea after Jose’s title in second spell. Title was won with a tight group of 13/14 top class players but when they returned for next season in poor physical and mental shape we didn’t have alternatives that could come in and do the same job
At pool its injuries to key players on top of the fact that many of the key players that are fit are nowhere near their best and that may be a mental thing more than physical
Maybe part loss of hunger and part mental exhaustion after 2 of the most amazing seasons back to back

5th March 2021 at 12:48 pm #176319Season is a write off for me and we go again next season. We have far to far to over react etc. Klopp had delivered my best days as a lfc fan.he has my full support
Thatโs it lucky. Injuries is not the issue. Bizarre decisions from jurgen. Itโs bizarre questioning him now as we had absolutely nothing to moan about for years. Itโs a tough time and hard to see how we improve but we need to make changes.
We keep persisting with a high line and it causes so many problems every game. Stop playing centre midfielders at centre back.
Change the formation.Sunday plsy philios, keita, fabhino, Shaq abd jota . Try something different . Drop Thiago, Winji, mane and Bobby.
Chelsea were brave on the ball. Playing wonderful football from deep. One touch and beating the press while looking so strong and organized at the back
Fully deserved win

5th March 2021 at 1:53 pm #176320Klopp isn’t under threat currently he has easily enough credit in the Bank but the owners won’t want this to go on for too much longer. I’m sure Klopp will get the Summer window and next season and Klopp is smart enough to know football is a results based business and that he will need to get Liverpool back competing next Season.

5th March 2021 at 3:41 pm #176323There is also a “trueism”. you learn from mistakes not winning. To date, City have learned something from last season and I am sure Liverpool will learn something from this one. All teams have injuries, loss of form and playing without a crowd so any excuses are not valid in my view. Buying the right players for squad is important irrespective of how much they costs. I would argue the IF and a big IF Messi came to City he may well not perform in EPL. If Neymar went to Utd would he perform? Harrland to Liverpool???? A huge risk so the decision has to be carefully thought through with balance and playing system of the team not around the new “star”. Mr Klopp just needs to find some players that fit his style of play, the front three are probably over used and lack the support from midfield but I know Mr Klopp will know this and recover and learn from this, that is what good Managers do

5th March 2021 at 5:09 pm #176326Hello Hightown, hope you’re good. Thanks for your kind words mate, appreciated.
‘Inadvertently’, I’ve no real time of late to dwell. Lots of work. Yes mate, you’re most welcome to take over as my energy levels feel a little limited at the moment ๐
Sean’s post at 12:48 pretty much sums up my own thoughts.
We’re just too predictable in everything we’re doing at the moment. When you’re losing a sequence of matches in the same type of manner and the system and style isn’t working on your own soil, it’s a clear indication that we’re the ones at fault and have to hold our hands up and admit defeat.
I’m wanting to believe this all to be a write off and to take time out, recoup hit the RESET button and have a real proper go at everything next season.

5th March 2021 at 5:20 pm #176327Nil, of course youโre predictable, thatโs the way youโve played for the last few seasons, the rest of the league have just learned how to counteract it. Itโs going to be difficult to change styles without changing personnel, so I think you need to replace one or more of the attacking element rather than bring players in to challenge the existing first choice group. Defending doesnโt really change, so when youโre back up to full strength there you should be ok, but also learning from this season youโll probably need to have a bit more backup….Pagan

5th March 2021 at 5:32 pm #176328Pagan, that’s it mate. The threaded ball or the ball over the top isn’t executed and pin-point to the aimed player properly because we don’t have those players playing in those positions who have that ability.
We’re not really running at opposition and I don’t see of late any dribbling ability or players willing to take a shot outside the box. I think we’re probably more suited on the road when there’s more space and playing on the counter.

5th March 2021 at 6:33 pm #176330I think there’s a danger in over analysing all this.
Liverpool aren’t the first team to hit the wall and need a reset.
It may not be quite as easy as Van Dijk comes back in they buy a couple of players and everything’s going to be as it was.
It’s going to be a big challenge for Klopp a similar thing happened at Dortmund and he decided to leave.
Currently Klopp trying to play exactly how Liverpool did tactically with the same players isn’t working and he’s going to have to take a fresh look at things because certainly doing the same things isn’t working and there have been some really strange decisions too like substituting Salah last night.
Part of the problem for Liverpool going forwards is the expectations of their fans which weights heavily on both Klopp and the players despite the result last night Liverpool are still in the race for the top 4 but winning the CL this season despite the desire looks very unlikely currently although in the CL you can never tell because luck often does play a part as has often been proved.
As well as City the top of the PL is becoming ever more competitive with more Clubs competing for top 4 places maybe even the title which means it’s probably going to be a bit of a challenge for Liverpool to get back to where they were and where they want to be.
It’s going to be interesting watching this one unfold and the fans need to manage their expectations going forwards.

5th March 2021 at 6:53 pm #176332Could be like that Nine. Possibly to the point where Klopp’s taken the team as far as he could. I don’t want him to leave. I would like him to consider alternative formations though ๐ Maybe 3-5-2 ๐

5th March 2021 at 7:18 pm #176333I think playing a different formation is only rearranging the deck chairs on a sinking ship, Klipperty needs to bring in replacements. As Iโve said before I think heโs probably to nice and to loyal to his players, Fergie was ruthless, however that style does always sit nicely with others conscience.
Thereโs no doubts that he can reinvent, rebuild and win the league again, itโs just with the newfound expectation at Liverpool will he be given time?…..Pagan

5th March 2021 at 7:54 pm #176334Guys, you’re welcome to change the subject. I don’t think that’s accurate Pagan when adjustments haven’t even been attempted by the Manager.
If you take for example Henderson and Fab playing center half instead of their natural positions, that’s accommodating a preset 4-3-3 rather than to adjust to playing 3 at the back with an example of Phillips whilst Henderson and Fabinho maintain their midfield stature.
It’s worthy criticism. However, I have a lot of Respect of Jurgen and for everything he’s given to the club. There’s lots going on so from out point of view, aside the Champions League Campaign, the sooner the this season finishes for us without the 12th man, the better.
Anyhow, I am genuinely impressed with the work Tuchel’s done so far – good adaptation in formation too.

5th March 2021 at 8:03 pm #176335Sean…that is what I was trying to say…..big money is not always the answer, the important thing is to get the right players to do the gameplay you want. I only mentioned those players/clubs as examples
City have made some poor choices in that direction but most are working out OK. We do not have aMessi, Neymar, Haarland etc. but we do have Bernado, Gungdogan,KDB,fernandinho now the next generation in Dias, Laporte Cancello, Foden Torres. I prefer any of them to a super star because they are team players following a system of playing_____________________________

I’ve not been keeping much with the forum; too busy workwise. From our point of view, the sooner this seasons ends the better lol ๐

5th March 2021 at 9:33 pm #176340Pagan, I think he will given time mate. My worry is he might walk but I donโt think he will be pushed
Pep and city were write off last season and bounced back
Next year be different for all clubs hopefully with fans back. I know most fans are very content after the last few years. Not expecting to win the league next season but hope to be doing better then this season.

5th March 2021 at 9:47 pm #176341Thanks Nine, Likewise to You and Your Family Mate ๐
Sean: Unique Way Of Life overall Mate. First time in 30 Years we Finally win the League, then all this to deal with.
It’s Unique because no other Team winning the League has had to deal with Covid Pandemic.
We’ve yet to have Experienced in proper our own Title Celebration. It’s all been pretty much all over the place.
FSG Do have the money. I’m confident they will stick with JK and he himself will Stay.
Cheers

6th March 2021 at 7:01 am #176343Nil, having read your above comment I thought Iโd have a look into it.
โItโs Unique because no other Team winning the League has had to deal with Covid Pandemic.โ
Well the top five last season were: Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Leicester. So I thought Iโd see how the others are performing this season, well itโs a bit of a shock really, they currently occupy the top four places. Well how else could the pandemic have affected one team so much and not the others? Maybe the geographical location was more greatly affected? Well another shock there, Everton currently sit fifth.
For me Nil, Liverpoolโs current problems are all down to the psychological issues surrounding top level sport, your players have had so much pressure over the last three season to win the league, pressure which has turned from hope to expectation after last season, that they are now suffering burnout, the goal of winning the league has been achieved, had they got the desire and motivation to go again was always going to be the question.
Nil this is no slight on Liverpool, yes you have a great squad of players, yes you have a great manager, but at the end of the day theyโre just people who were under a lot of pressure to win, and that pressure was released and they havenโt quite got their focus back yet, they got to the top of the mountain but unfortunately they spent too much time admiring the view……Pagan
