28th February 2021 at 9:02 pm #176181Ed, I think certainly the turbulence is over now in terms of desperately trying to replace Fergie and spend your back to the top. The club looks more pragmatic now and the team looks more cohesive. Itโs as though youโre just waiting for the right man to come along now who can take you to the next level. Concern is, are we now experiencing a dearth of top managers?

28th February 2021 at 9:17 pm #176183Lucky, yeah I agree. Said it from very early on that I didn’t think it was the right appointment. I’m now starting to think it may actually have been the right appointment in terms of steadying the ship ahead of hopefully finding someone to take us to the next level.
Mikus, yes it certainly feels that way. I was keen on Allegri but now that I’ve seen what Ole has done in terms of integrating so many young players, I’m concerned we’d lose that with someone like him. Not convinced by Nagelsmann either. Ole well and truly schooled him at Old Trafford and his side looked clueless. The Poch ship has sailed. My worst nightmare is that Southgate wins the Euros (that in itself would be great, mind) then Ole is sacked and replaced by him. Can see Woodward doing something like that.

1st March 2021 at 10:47 am #176188Still donโt think we were great at all last night. Kabak looks a bit dodgy.
Philips akways does ok so itโs strange he was not starting when we played Hendo there.
Chelsea Thursday be a totally different story.

1st March 2021 at 10:49 am #176189Did the Chelsea players influence the ref yda seen those pens given a lot of the time?

1st March 2021 at 11:02 am #176191Sean, very good call mate. I thought I was the only person thinking this, but Kabak seems to fall in our dud category of dud signings. Weirdly, he resembles to Moreno.
There’s communication issues or misunderstanding with the Keeper; last time it was Alisson, last night there was a bit of a mix up with Adrian.
Just as well it’s only a filler signing. At least we knew where we stood with Lovren lol ๐

1st March 2021 at 11:10 am #176193What a moan from Ole! Penalty? I’m not sure having seen it so many times. Perhaps there was another reason they didn’t win. Watching the game United should have been clearly ahead at half time but they didn’t make the most of their superiority. Chelsea came more into it towards the end and could easily have won it. Every team gets done by VAR.

1st March 2021 at 12:25 pm #176196I agree Adlab. (Not often I say that! ๐) It could have been a penalty, yes. But to call it 100% a pen is wrong. I’d edge towards it being a pen, just. But, we can’t have any complaints with it not being given. Chelsea were denied a pen in the reverse fixture so we can’t complain.
To be honest, though, I’m liking seeing Ole have a bit of a moan. I’ve always thought he was too nice. Seeing him moan a bit shows me he has something about him.

1st March 2021 at 2:31 pm #176200It would have been a really harsh decision if a penalty had been given I’ve watched it a number of times now and even under the current stupid rules it’s difficult to say whether it was or wasn’t a penalty imo.
I think they need to scrap the current stupid rules and revert to it needing to be deliberate hand ball for a penalty.
Ole berating the Chelsea website for reviewing the recent controversia decisions that had gone against Chelsea in recent games against United was beyond ridiculous as if the Referee would be reviewing the Chelsea web site just before a big game.๐
Chelsea were denied a clear penalty at OT this season with Maguire’s foul on Azpilicutea which the PGMOL apologised for so even if it was a penalty what goes around comes around.๐
All done and dusted now though. Liverpool up next in a very tough run of games for Chelsea with Atletico, United and Liverpool all in just over a week.

1st March 2021 at 3:27 pm #176202Nine, in fairness I think it’s pretty obvious he wasn’t suggesting the ref would be sat with his cornflakes on Sunday morning reading Chelsea’s website ๐. If the official Man Utd twitter was to post before the next Utd-Chelsea game something about how a Chelsea player’s actions will be under scrutiny because of a poor decision in the last game, I’m sure Tuchel would have something to say. Or if they posted a picture of the Hudson-Odoi handball on the website as Chelsea did with bringing up the Maguire incident again. I’m not sure it’s something clubs should be getting involved in on their official channels ahead of a game. Leave that kind of thing to the Youtubers and the like IMO.
All history now though! One thing’s for sure. Moos is awfully quiet now that it’s Chelsea’s turn to benefit from a a decision ๐

1st March 2021 at 4:01 pm #176203The BBC match report has an interesting photo of the penalty incident, see link below, the ball undoubtedly hits the hand of CHO, however at the same time his arm is in contact with the defenders arm, so limits CHOโs ability to move his hand out of the way, whether the ref took this into account we donโt know. Yesterday it wasnโt a penalty, the next game it may be, and thatโs the bit that causes controversy…..Pagan

1st March 2021 at 4:10 pm #176204No I agree Pagan. The inconsistency is the frustrating part but we’re never going to get absolute consistency. Even with multiple angles, there are always going to be differences in opinions and no two incidents are the same.
This is what Clattenburg had to say:
I am amazed Manchester United were not awarded a penalty in the first half for the clear handball by Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The Chelsea playerโs arm was up in an unnatural position and the ball hit his hand.
VAR Chris Kavanagh thought referee Stuart Attwell had missed a clear penalty so he gave him the opportunity to review it at his pitch-side monitor.
How Attwell did not then point to the spot, having been shown the same angles that we were, is a mystery.
Worth noting that Clattenburg has given more pens against Utd than for Utd (in matches involving us) before anyone suggests he’s on our payroll ๐

1st March 2021 at 4:14 pm #176205Away from the Chelsea game, my overall impression from the weekendโs footy is how far removed it is from having any integrity at all.
The Liverpool match was on in the background and the commentators were praising a Liverpool player for staying on his feet, well logically from that it means that any contact made wasnโt enough to make the player go down, so the only way he could have gone to ground was of his own volition, hence the commentators were actually praising a player for not cheating, is that really the state of the game nowadays?……Pagan

1st March 2021 at 4:19 pm #176206Ed, no one can really define unnatural, the bodies instinct is to protect and to balance, unless itโs an undeniable intent then it shouldnโt be handball, however of course that brings in inconsistency, the only way to get rid of inconsistency is any contact is handball, well they tried that and it was farcical, so weโll just have to live with what we have now…..Pagan
