28th February 2021 at 7:08 pm #176159I have Tonight’s Snooker as a back up plan but even with that, O’Sullivan faces a mammoth of a task to win the final. John Higgins is like a T1000 π

28th February 2021 at 7:21 pm #176161Very happy with a point at an in form Chelsea. Thought we were better first half and Chelsea were better in the second.
Whilst our record against the so called big 6 is concerning, why on earth are we counting the likes of Arsenal and Spurs into these stats any more? Surely, the record against the actual top 6 is more relevant? Not that ours is much better there but it’s definitely better than against a selection of teams who once made up the top sides in the league.

28th February 2021 at 7:28 pm #176163We’ve come to life. Although Firmino could have been more clinical, that was generally encouraging. More of that should hopefully see us find the Net.

28th February 2021 at 7:35 pm #176165Ed, those sides have been in the top 6 for a long long time. They are the established big clubs in the league. Even if one or two have slipped out in the last season or so, the players will still go into those games and treat them as big ones. I think it does say something psychologically about Utd that theyβve only scored one goal over all those games. Man Utd are obviously playing to their strengths but also are playing the percentages in the bigger games. It has made them the best of the rest this season, but in any other season, I donβt that would be the case.

28th February 2021 at 7:41 pm #176166Interesting you ask why are they still classed as the big 6 still, theyβre probably the named big 6 from βProject Big Pictureβ……Pagan

28th February 2021 at 7:47 pm #176167How are we by now not at least 2-0 up? I have to say, tonight so far, we’ve played some real pleasing on the eye football, irrespective of the opposition.

28th February 2021 at 7:50 pm #176170Yeah it’s an odd one Mikus this season. The opposite was true last season where we did the double over both City and Chelsea. We had an excellent record against those 6 sides last season. This season we’ve progressed as a whole (a +12 point swing) yet had a worse record against those sides.
I’m not actually that concerned about that particular record if I’m honest. There have been a lot of tight games which could have gone either way.
What I think will always prevent us from going much further with Ole at the helm will be the silly dropping of points in the games we should be winning.

28th February 2021 at 8:06 pm #176172Our counter-attack has been exhilarating. There is notably more energy, appetite and overall, improved quality. We’ve been contained so far unfortunately and in frustration given the number of opportunities.
A test for patience overall. A 0-0 ending I have to say would be criminal.

28th February 2021 at 8:13 pm #176173Ed, thatβs because I think no crowds have helped Ole more this season, and I donβt think the team feels as much expectation versus the lesser sides and they arenβt hearing the frustrations and groans from the fans. Itβs in the bigger games, you miss the crowds more. Bottom line is, Ole and the overall team, still ainβt good enough. Though, that last sentence could be applied to a lot of the top 6, who have been poor for a few seasons now. I think the reason for this is that thereβs been a bit of panic buying or poor buying at these clubs for some time now, and the reason for that is that they simply donβt possess managers to attract such players so are either over compensating or are trying to be too clever or shrewd.

28th February 2021 at 8:36 pm #176178No I think we all know Ole isn’t quite up to it Mikus. That said, I’m not sure who we could realistically bring in. There’s no obvious choice and Ole isn’t really doing badly enough to get sacked.
I actually like a lot of what’s happened since Ole came in. We’ve done some very, very good business at youth level and I’m sure that whenever Ole does move on, he’ll be leaving Utd in a better state than any other post-Ferguson manager before him.
Whilst I remain convinced we’ll never be anything more than also-rans under him, he’s just doing the minimum required to earn the time needed to prove the likes of myself wrong. Things could certainly be worse. We’re in a much better shape than Arsenal and Spurs, that’s for sure.
