City perhaps understandably not at their free flowing best but that was down to the way Moyes set West Ham up and so many changes after a midweek CL game.
Great Champions come through such games with a win which is exactly what City did. 20 straight wins is more than impressive. Bayern’s all time record of 23 straight wins is coming under pressure.

I would say that the ref has said wait for the whistle, in which case both teams then have to be ready for the restart of the game, he’s then blown his whistle not realising the keeper is still organising the wall, hence his second whistle to stop it when he realise his mistake. Why he needed VAR to sort it is the question, he should just have explained and had the kick retaken.

I didn’t see the actual incident live, so I don’t 100% know if the ref signalled to wait for the whistle, but it is the only logical explanation…..Pagan

Brighton kicked the free kick and scored a split second before he blew so it rightly had to be retaken but before it was retaken he for some reason changed his mind and signalled for a goal but then var reversed the decision again, so Brighton eventually had to retake the free kick but this time it was saved, crazy 15 minutes.

I saw the free kick, but not the bit leading up to it, so I didn’t see if the ref signalled to say wait for the whistle. Although it’s not in the laws of the game, when the ref says wait for the whistle, they make sure both teams are ready, if they don’t they could be accused of bias. Personally I think waiting for the defending team to set up a wall takes away any advantage the attacking should have, which really isn’t right…..Pagan

Rodgers’ team have tried to conserve their energy with less possession, but so far it’s backfired. Good on Arsenal really working their way through the gears and find a 3rd. Hopefully for them, they can kill this game off and avoid conceding for a nervy finish.

Another injury; this time Johnny Evans. Playing in Europe on a Thursday then preparing for a Premier League game is no gimme as Leicester are finding. To be fair to the Gunners, they themselves playing in the Europa yet have had more influence on the match today.
