Yeah mikus its true its the risk with such a tight squad, last 2 chelsea teams to win league with Jose and conte were with tight core of 13/14 players which creates great unity and chemistry, but lose a few players to injury or poor form and its a big drop very quickly

20th February 2021 at 10:22 pm #175693Mikus, Clipperty would also be aware that putting a young lad in out of his depth could kill their career, so him being a decent bloke would probably not do that…Pagan

21st February 2021 at 1:35 am #175698Don’t go there Nil, I believe you are better than that. Liverpool are simply having one of those seasons with contributing issues. Sometimes we just have to write them off and look forward to what is ahead. Whilst Klopp is at the helm you will not suffer mediocrity for long. Chelsea are not much better to be honest. Smile mate and move on 🙂

21st February 2021 at 5:22 am #175699Massive difference Blaze. I remember a few years back the Australian womens International team the Matildas had a warm up match for an upcoming tournament against the local A-League club side Newcastle Jets under 15s boys team and got belted 7-0.

21st February 2021 at 8:38 am #175702Nil, when you’re Champions and you crumble even with all the circumstances you have to take it on the chin mate it happened to us in 2015 under Jose when we went from Champions to the lower reaches of the PL and then ended up finisishing 10th. We were the butt of all the joke and Jose lost his job.
To be fair you’ve done well to date.

21st February 2021 at 9:55 am #175710I’ve had a read of Nil’s post and sat down and reflected on my posts
The kids are now walking round the house wearing black armbands.
I’ve cut the wife’s housekeeping allowance.
I’ve put a flagpole up outside so I can fly one at half mast.
I’ve written the the editor and asked him to black out the FD logo as a mark of respect.…..Pagan (rubbish person)

21st February 2021 at 10:18 am #175712This season as far as the league goes is a write off. Unfortunately for us, we’ve still got to get through March, April, May.
Had the commentary on yesterday through work and trying to block it all out. Not easy. There are genuine reasons such as injuries and no fans but to some, they come across as excuses.
We’ve never had for 30 years the task to retain a Title. Not easy as you become a target for every team, but that’s expected.
Pagan, nothing directed at you personally, I apologize if it came out that way – just felt prickly at the time reading comments, here there and everywhere. Gonna try and keep away or use less.

21st February 2021 at 10:32 am #175713Nil, don’t worry about it, but thanks for the apology anyway.
You see as older Chelsea fans we’ve developed a lot of resilience to being the butt of jokes, the late 70s and early 80s we had no money, a ground that was falling apart and fans that only ever looked at the bottom half of the table, well except when we were in div 2.
To use one of my analogies, you’ve had a couple of seasons as the pigeon, currently you’re having a statue moment, it happens, just roll with it
Take care…..Pagan

21st February 2021 at 10:51 am #175715For Liverpool everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. Depth of squad and injuries, of course.
But from a tactical perspective I think opposition teams have realised that cut off the long ball supply from the fullbacks makes the front three slightly less effective. Perhaps an inability to change this effectively has made the team more vulnerable._____________________________

21st February 2021 at 11:06 am #175716Steveo. Sometimes we need to reflect I guess. Being a City of Liverpool fan is not so bad when the supporters look around them and realise there are some much worse off than themselves. Our two clubs have a way to go to even dream about being title contenders again unless others come crashing back down to our level. Off the back of being champions and winning the Champions League over the last year or so I would have thought a minor hiccup like one poorish season would be taken in someone’s stride and not become an event of devastation that we all have to hear about. I think we have suffered enough with the inconsistency of our clubs’ performances for more than a few seasons now but I guess we are all different.

21st February 2021 at 11:29 am #175719Adlab, I was thinking about maybe changing the formation to 4-2-3-1. This is a ‘plan b’ or just an alternative system. We can’t continue the way we are and I have huge criticism towards Trent. Not a right-back at all.
They all need to take responsibility and acknowledge this – JK included. This is unacceptable to lose 4 matches in a row. I can’t ever recall seeing this happen in all my years of supporting the club.

21st February 2021 at 11:33 am #175721C67, hi mate. I can accept defeat, but the manner of it is painful. Every game there’s the same pattern. There’s no fight or team spirit. Just thinking about this all. I can’t believe how far we’ve dropped down. There is a danger now of making anything.
No European qualification and essentially lose out on big Revenue not to mention the prospect of not attracting big name players.

21st February 2021 at 11:41 am #175722Nil, all teams have the same problems with the amount of fixtures and the no fans issue, however Liverpool have had one more hurdle to overcome this season, and that was the the added pressure of overcoming the trap of resting on your laurels, every team that wins the league has to overcome this and deal with expectations and the fact that they are now the ones to beat, that’s why it’s so hard to win back to back titles…..Pagan

21st February 2021 at 12:02 pm #175724Think Liverpool would be laying comfortably 2nd to City in the league if not for all those injuries, weird that they nearly all in the defense.

21st February 2021 at 12:03 pm #175725No problem with yesterday really. Just not happening for us at all at the minute. Luck really had deserted us but we really have fallen apart
We might not even finish top 6. FairPlay to Everton. They gave it everything . We were better in the 2nd half but something is not right. The belief has gone. Bobby firmino looks like he can’t even kick a ball at the minute
Disappointing but we move on. Hard to see were the next pl win comes from
Just read klopps city comments and that’s just ridiculous
