Good early morning chat at work with my fellow Liverpool colleague and some good points raised when making comparison to Man City. Pep signed Ake and Ruben Diaz and all of a sudden, John Stones becomes a better player.
As with Gundogen who’s owned that midfield position since the absence of KDB. There is a stimulation of competition for places.
Does Salah and Firmino often get dropped when their levels have dropped? Yes and No, and the ‘quality’ replacing them really in Origi and Shaqiri hasn’t been up to scratch. The one player that made a difference for us this season was Jota.
We did react too late to bring in central defenders. Dalglish in the late 80s and 1989/90 topped up and brought in reinforcements just to bolster the first team and add something new, ala Ronny Rosenthal.
We need to be looking at developing the younger players and establish them to be our future and give them the authority of the first team.

What a laugh, that was the total opposite of what VAR was meant to do. I could have given VAR a tick in the box (for once) if heβd been shown a red card by the ref and then it had been rescinded when VAR reviewed it. If that doesnβt get overturned on Monday then weβre into the realms of VAR making decisions just to just itβs own existence…..Pagan

We have to get on with it. Itβs all about top 4 chum. We didnβt react in the summer when Lovren went. We knew it was absolutely ridiculous going into the season with 3 cbs, two who miss huge chunks of seasons
Top 4 be a good achievement for us then we regroup in the summer and getting going again next season mate

Liverpool have to win today a draw at the end of the day probably won’t be good enough as it would leave City 7 points clear with a game in hand and a superior goal difference.
If City win bar a complete City collapse which looks unlikely it’s pretty much done and dusted as it would be such a long way back from there for Liverpool who would need a complete City collapse.
All of the above points to it being a very good game.
City going with the false 9 which is interesting.
