Newcastle need to chase the game, they are down to 10 men and liverpool have crazy pace up front. Can only see more goals from Liverpool unless a set piece or something.

18th February 2023 at 6:14 pm #204542Where on earth does Carragher get “deserve a goal” from? How do Newcastle deserve a goal? So one-sided narrative so far tonight; Both him and Tyler go silent when Liverpool score and expect Newcastle to hit back!

18th February 2023 at 6:23 pm #204545Very Good First Half and couldn’t ask for more. We have defended in a low block and the 4 are in sync with each other with extended help coming from other players in the team. 2 goals to the good and a man down puts us in the driving seat for 3 points.
We can’t let a two goal lead slip. A 3rd should seal it.

18th February 2023 at 6:38 pm #204546You’d have to fancy Liverpool to get a CL spot assuming they win this. None of the other sides around them are showing anywhere near a ough consistency and Liverpool have so much more quality in the side than any of the other challengers.

18th February 2023 at 7:27 pm #204548YES!! 3 POINTS! Big 3 Points and Clean Sheet too. We held our nerve and Newcastle’s resistance. Allison made important saves, but full-marks in the way we were structured today and functional and 2 outfield players playing a big part in that for me were Trent and Fabinho. Lot better than recent times; they should maturity, concentrated reading the game throughout. Still a long way to go to try and get back in the Top 4, but it’s definitely back on!

18th February 2023 at 7:28 pm #204549Well, much improved recently albeit against 2 teams not in great form. The Madrid game should tell us how much of a corner we’ve hopefully turned. Do still seem a bit nervy at the back.

18th February 2023 at 7:32 pm #204550Thought we were better at 11v11, lost the intensity without gaining control. We should have just passed them to death and we would still have had chances with the pace up front. Disagree Nil thought Fab wasnt great, same with the rest of the midfield. They were bypassed too often.
Did enjoy Nunez and Gakpo, two players whose purchases I have questioned. They seem to be fitting in now, showing interchangeability and contrast with Gakpo coming deep and Nunez stretching the opposition. Gives defenders a lot to think about and then there’s Salah too.

18th February 2023 at 8:22 pm #2045533ps all good mate. I don’t want to keep moaning about this, but the broadcasting narrative wasn’t great; it’s as if they were expecting Newcastle to turn it around. Maybe because of our away record which is understandable combined with them losing 1 game all season.
Big Scalp winning against a quality outfit and away from home. We really put ourselves out today and did the hard yards. Winning back balls when lost possession and also better ball retention than recent times. It does look a lot more settled and with ease.
The clean sheets will really boost us and of course the wins going into the Real Madrid game.

18th February 2023 at 8:27 pm #204554I’ve criticized Nunez a lot and feel bad about that. Gakpo very quiet, respectful and a humble player. A lot of weight in expectation and he joined at a time when Liverpool were in a slump. With Nunez, it’s as if somebody had placed a bar of Kryptonite after the Community Shield. Decent lads above all that have kept their heads down and just got on with playing.
They’ll come good next season and I’m sure will be part of Jurgen’s plans; rumoured that Firmino may move on in the summer.

18th February 2023 at 8:34 pm #204555Thankfully I dont get to listen to Tyler and Carra, heard they were not great. This quote made me laugh from RAWK after we scored the 2nd
“Have we scored? I thought Tylerβs dog had just died”
Thought Milner came on and made a difference, apart from one mistake I think that let Newcastle in and he got an ear full from Klopp. He then rolled back many years and looked strong.

18th February 2023 at 8:54 pm #204556That’s the thing mate, it’s a blanket silence as if something bad really happened on both times of Liverpool scoring.
It’s becoming more and more noticeable with Sky. I find Amazon Prime refreshing and never have issue with BT. I think Neville is a tad kinder, but he can be just as bad as with Carra. Doesn’t really set a good tone. I also didn’t like the experience of our goals in having to wait for validation from VAR. Can’t complain too much if it ultimately meant that we got the 3 points and deserved too π

19th February 2023 at 9:47 am #204565We can play much better aswell but two fantastic goals.Newcastle hadnβt lost in 17 games and had only conceded one goal since November so thatβs a great result but we still look open at times. Loads of work still to do
