Sean, true mate. Another ‘fashionable’ 0-0 draw.
Eddie Howe however may look at this result differently. He really has build solidarity when you consider they were fighting relegation last season. St Maximin is back. Imagine if they start signing players. They’re building a template I’m thinking than this all being a flash-in-the-pan.
The landscape of the PL is changing and different teams gradually going into the middle part of this decade could occupy 4th. Liverpool could find it for example tougher.

21st January 2023 at 8:53 pm #203182Seems like the teams at the top who are playing for something are the ones trying, yet everyone else just do not give a shit.

21st January 2023 at 9:11 pm #203184Not sure about that CM. I wouldn’t apply that to the examples of Tiago Silva and James Milner. They are beyond Prime and they really grafted their guts. Plus Azpi for Chelsea is one Fantastic Servant for their Club. If John Terry was still there, he’d give 100%.
What I do see is some teams have improved whilst certain teams have taken a downfall for whatever reason.

21st January 2023 at 10:00 pm #203185That game was exactly what it suggested it would be, two mid table teams playing out an error riddled bore fest. Think Chelsea edged it but not by much. We like nearly every match look tactically all over the place.
Two very poor teams a long way off the CL spots.

21st January 2023 at 10:26 pm #203186This league campaign in general has been a bore fest imo. There just seems to be a lack of urgency from most sides and the World Cup distraction probably played a part. It is only half way, but imo the worst league campaign I have seen in a while. Give it march and most things will be settled. Teams looks like they are performing like they usually do when they have nothing to play for and are ready to go on their holidays.

22nd January 2023 at 9:19 am #203191Be interesting to see how United cope with the loss of Casimero v Arsenal perhaps move Martinez into Casimero’s position and Shaw back into Central defence. Should be a good game.π€

22nd January 2023 at 10:40 am #203192I know we can’t keep using this as an excuse, but 3p’s both those teams have been hampered with injuries. Chelsea for quite some time now. No Kante for example or Chilwell. Liverpool naturally miss VVD and their main attacking players that pose a real threat like Diaz and Jota. We miss Firmino too, badly.
Salah to me is just flashes; ever since that Watford over a year ago and the 400k in his new wages.
I don’t think it’s so much that players don’t care. Some do give me the impression that they only have to play in second gear and 3 points will just fall into place.
I’ve been saying consistently, nobody will just roll over; even Forest. There are some teams that have improved and the league overall is competitive with the exception of a few that have been struggling and generally not on form.

I said over the summer, Liverpool got rid of the wrong player. Salah is not a team player, Mane has more to his game too. They could have got more for Salah and used the funds on a few players.

22nd January 2023 at 11:09 am #203195CM,
Salah has been phenomenal for us overall and Klopp turned into a Top Player. But you’re right. He’s sticks himself predominantly in one area which usually is the right-hard side up top. He’s marked and opposition players know his style and moves.
He is best, one on one on the counter; you would put your money on him to finish.
But yeah, true to boot on Mane. I miss the Man and he is a huge loss to us. I believe there might have been friction behind the scenes which him and Salah which triggered his move. Mane ran deep and linked with the midfield. He would be the main man instigating this ‘Press’ people keep going on about because that is part of Klopp’s Gegenpressing winning challenges in the opposition’s part of the pitch frequently and then applying threat.
We don’t seem to be playing like that. In fact, I know what we’re doing at times, we’ve fallen that far behind. You need a guy there to make it happen or usually 2 players that are on the same wavelength and make the rest of the team pull together and click.

22nd January 2023 at 12:01 pm #203196I agree Nil.
Salah is a exceptional player. Like you have summed up Mane just had more to his game. It is also Mane intelligence you are missing. The way he use to drag the opposition defenders away when he didnβt have the ball, which created space for others. I watched him live years ago and the opposition had 2 players on him at times. Things like that makes a difference.

22nd January 2023 at 12:08 pm #203197Cm, mane wanted to move. He asked to leave this time last season and thatβs why we bought Diaz. He didnβt want to stay.
Mane had a very ooor start to last season. Was poor up until he came back from afcon. Then he was unreal. Salah still had 15 goals at the moment but like mane, he always has a few months when not on form. Heβs our main man and we need him to stand up now but he isnβt. His first touch and general play is awful at the minute. Like a whole host of our players, he is bang out of form

22nd January 2023 at 2:14 pm #203201I don’t think Liverpool’s problems are necessarily down to the loss of Mane I think last season took it’s toll on Liverpool and the midfield doesn’t have the legs anymore to press like they have previously.
I don’t think we’ll see the press back with any consistency until Liverpool rejuvenate their midfield.

22nd January 2023 at 2:43 pm #203204That was gradually coming to be fair. City up their game and Grealish has been pulling out the stops. A familiar name on the scoresheet. Not been easy by any stretch as Wolves have showed grit.
