That had frustration written all over it. What a poor Chelsea team; fouls committed; don’t really have any real flow about them awful to watch. I thought it was Tuchel that did this! Cucurella is one of the worst players I’ve ever watched in a Chelsea shirt – should have stayed at Brighton!
A much better second half at least from us. For all the criticism I’ve dished out, Nunez was effective and great speed. We’re missing goalscorers. Absolutely better from us in the second half to win the ball back by challenging. That is your answer to PRESS! We’re still lacking real quality and strength though and often we’ve been out-muscled. We did give them some back and I want to see more of that instead of taking it lying down all the time.
The 0-0 reflects frustration and essentially the league position both teams are occupying hinging on the vast amount of key players injured and the lack of form and quality of depth.

Hopefully other results go our way this afternoon, but we have had plenty of helping hands. Too early too to write the season off. We finished off strongly I felt towards the end so maybe that’s a positive that we can take going forward.

Adlab, that is a valid point about the World Cup, but Teams need to accept games are not going to go away and like it or not will come thick and fast; Tuesday/Saturday, Wednesday/Saturday, Thursday/Sunday. The Championship cope with it and they play 46 games a season. We don’t need the game to be played 200 miles an hour; slow it down!
There is depth of the squad and injuries are hampering squads as a result due to more recovery time needed, but this is where Club Managers need to be strategic and be able to manage and utilize the squad better to bring in results and consistency.

Lucky, I agree mate to an extent, but many of our key players will be returning in Feb and I want us to go for the CL and retain the FA Cup.

With all Chelsea’s players back from injury especially James, Chilwell and Kante plus Felix and Muddy I could be tempted to put a £1 on Chelsea for the CL too.😃

Newcastle are not going anywhere bud, they offloading wood to get a better striker to rotate with isaak, it is odds against pool to finish above them and even longer odds for chelsea to do it.

Ye agree cm. Two poor sides out there today. Severe lack of quality and a terrible game.
Nil, there is no way us or Chelsea are getting top 4 as to far behind. Two teams who look extremely poor at the minute.
We have nothing going forward and need jota , Bobby and Diaz bsck so we can mix it up.

Think you’re right Sean although I think both Liverpool and Chelsea will finish higher up the PL I can’t see either of them making the CL.
I wouldn’t write Liverpool out of winning the FA Cup if they can get past Brighton away and they get some decent draws they’re potentially quite capable of that.
Hand on heart I would be surprised if either of them are capable of winning the CL.

I think I jinxed this with the thread of ‘all good games’. Flaming boring as anything the Palace game albeit the atmosphere and the constant ‘drum banging’ from the Palace Supporters. Newcastle must be draw specialists!

Lucky, I appreciate what you’re saying mate. Of course. We’ve had some wonderful times in recent years. We’re in 2023; somewhere down the line that will change. Plus the injuries have hampered us as well as losing Mane, but no point dwelling on the drum over and over again. We need to move forward.
I would like your mindset, but I just think back to the ‘Covid’ season where we found a gear in the remaining batch of games and stole a CL place. I don’t think it would financially hinder us too much in not finishing 4th, but in the same breath our American owners wouldn’t be too happy.
Teams can still drop points but at the same time, both United and Newcastle have looked solid.
