In all truth adlab, even at our best when we won the league a few years ago, I don’t think we were particularly spectacular but we had that fear factor with that front 3, and we had a midfield at that time that was able to dominate possession.
Now our front players are in transition with some new ones in, Mane has gone and others are injured. But the midfield is pretty catastrophic for me. They’ve declined and aged and we haven’t replenished the midfield in 4 years I think bar Thiago. And whilst Thiago has been one of our better performers I’m just not sure he’s suited to us. We either need a box to box midfielder or a workhorse/destroyer. Defensively we’ve not been brilliant either but I think that’s more linked to the loss of protection in midfield.

14th January 2023 at 5:28 pm #202916I disagree about thisgo cm. Best midfielder this season for winning the ball back. 6 recoveries againest wolves compared to Henderson 0 and fabhino 1 in that game. Thisgo our best midfielder again todsy when pushed back. He started as the ten in a diamond and we had none of the ball the first half. Klopp to blame for today . Ridiculous formation againest a side whose full backs play a huge better in their attack.
Fabhino had been dreadful and I think hendo coukd be finished. Keita has done well recently and needed to start as he has legs. Thisgo was absolutely vital to us last season and our run from jan coincided with him coming back into the team. Heβs the least of our problems at the minute
Robertson was shocking today as was matip. Ox should never play again. I believe we will bounce back again but not until next season. We need to hard working running midfielders. We need them now but we donβt have the money. Huge clear out needed. Just hope Klopp doesnβt walk as itβs the 7th season syndrome
No complaints todsy. Beaten by a much better side on the day. Lucky just to lose 3-0. Salahs touch was dreadful today

14th January 2023 at 5:30 pm #202917But the defence canβt defend anything that comes in mikuis? We continue to play a high line with no press so why havenβt we changed that ? We concede 6-8 chances every game. Matip was nearly in their half for one of the balls played over Trent. Itβs not just the midfield. Itβs everywhere. We are poor all over the pitch

14th January 2023 at 5:39 pm #202918Did we press much in our title winning season Sean? Donβt seem to recall us pressing that much. Think we’ve been pressing less and less generally speaking as the years have gone by. As I say above, I think we’ve lost our fear factor up top and also our midfield shield plus teams are more confident in having a go at us now. You could argue we should start pressing again but not sure our midfield is capable of it. And if we don’t play a high line is Klopp used to playing that way? So there’s no obvious solution to this mess.

14th January 2023 at 5:40 pm #202920We nearly won every trophy last year and thisgo was a huge part of that. Heβs not dropped in form but everyone else has stouts us. The midfield canβt be blamed for Matips bad pass for the 1st. Gomez taken the loss out of by welbeck
Adlab, I can see Klopp wakking if he doesnβt get a lot of money in the summer. We need players . A centre back and two midfielders . We have let the midfield age and itβs crazy

14th January 2023 at 5:43 pm #202922Sean-
Fair dos in regards to Thiago.
Whenever I think of Klopp style of play. I think of the electric football and a lot of energy being instilled. This Liverpool side lacks that, especially in midfield. That why I believe Thiago is not a Klopp type of player. But I will admit I have not seen enough of him at Liverpool to judge that. I saw him a fair few times for Bayern and he sat in front of the defence pinging the ball about.

14th January 2023 at 5:48 pm #202923Not completely absolving the defenders Sean, but think the whole situation could be demoralising them.
Think we were running purely on momentum last year during that run in without being particularly spectacular. We never scored from open play in any of the finals we were in. It was still a good run but I think it rinsed everything out of what was left of that team and now the jig is pretty much up with it.

14th January 2023 at 5:56 pm #202924Ah mikuis the team played nearly every game they could last season. We were resolute and strong. I donβt forget how absolutely shite we were before Klopp.
We had to win nearly every single game last year from jan which is impossible. People wonβt realise how good we had it until Klopp is gone and we revert back to ten years ago.
Thatβs why I wonβt be losing my Shute sfyet a bad season. We could finish 17th and Iβd still fully support Klopp

14th January 2023 at 6:22 pm #202927Liverpool apparently frontrunners alongside Real for Bellingham. Surely, this season’s form pushes him more towards Madrid than he might otherwise have been? Been hearing lots of positive signals re him going to Liverpool but it’s difficult to see him choosing to go there if there’s no CL. It’s more than just not having CL football though, it’s the fact that their biggest asset, Klopp, is showing signs of losing his magic touch.

14th January 2023 at 6:33 pm #202930Worrying times for Liverpool fans. As Mikus suggested, this sounds and looks very much like Klopp’s final season at Dortmund

14th January 2023 at 6:39 pm #202931Itβs a bad 5 months Ed. One bad season we should be able to deal with and fully support the manager.worrying times is 2010. We just need to ride the season out and get fresh bodies in. He needs full support from the owners.

14th January 2023 at 6:43 pm #202933I understand that Sean, and the recruitment has obviously been poor as well. But sometimes when the party’s over, the party’s over.

14th January 2023 at 6:45 pm #202934So you want Klopp out mikuis?
Really? The Dortmund ceo said after Klopp left that he shiujd have changed the team and not the manager as they would t have a got manager like him agsin. What have they done since? We wonβt see anything like we had with Klopp once heβs gone.

14th January 2023 at 6:52 pm #202936It’s not so much I’m calling for his head Sean, it’s more what state his head is in and whether the players are now fully wity him or the whole thing is just getting tired. It can just happen. Like you, I’d like to think it’s salvageable, but circumstances may say otherwise.

I don’t disagree Sean. Who would you even get in? Tuchel would be the obvious choice I think. By saying it’s like his last season at Dortmund, I’m not suggesting it will be his last at Liverpool. I think they need to stick by him.

14th January 2023 at 6:56 pm #202940I donβt want anyone in Ed to be honest. No one can replace Klopp for me. Tuchel is to negative. I love watching us under Klopp. Itβs a bad skeleton and the manager needs to be supported
