Confirmed. Real Madrid have made a formal bid for €160m to sign Kylian Mbappé immediatly. NO green light from Paris Saint-Germain yet. ⚪️🇫🇷 #Mbappé #RealMadrid
Kylian Mbappé has turned down more than three different proposals from PSG to extend the contract. He’s waiting too. pic.twitter.com/cGTAmYVhdb

24th August 2021 at 9:08 pm #183391No expert on this Sean, but looking at this season and last, Real have offloaded £160 million in players with few incoming. Barcelona I don’t think have. Also I think FFP does not look at overall debt but more on it’s deficit year on year or over several years. But someone else can maybe better explain it or correct that.

24th August 2021 at 9:36 pm #183396Rumours of a move for Ronaldo too. Kane still a possibility. Could be some big moves as we approach the 11th hour of the transfer window.

25th August 2021 at 7:50 am #183401Sean, FFP has been shelved by UEFA who are looking to introduce a new system.
Real can amortoise the Mbappe fee over the length of his contract which given his age could be a long one and not cost Real much more than £20m a season.
If Mbappe continues to not commit his future to PSG they will need to sell him or risk losing him for free from January.

25th August 2021 at 8:26 am #183402Saw this morning PSG might look to bring in Richarlison to replace Mbappe. That’s some drop in quality isn’t it! I think Ronaldo will go to PSG actually. The Qataris would want to make a statement if Mbappe left and nothing makes a statement quite like uniting probably the two best players ever to grace the game albeit both are way past their best.
Ronaldo to City is a non-starter. Just can’t seee it. He turns 37 this season and is far from the player he was. He doesn’t suit a Pep team, at all. Lastly, I just don’t think he’d move there.
Saying that, I think the one thing bigger than Ronaldo’s admiration for his former clubs is his desire to win as much as possible in his final playing years. Going to City might be his only chance to get another CL and a slim chance of another Ballon D’or. If anyone would sacrifice his legacy at a former club in return for personal glory, it would be him.

25th August 2021 at 8:56 am #183404It’s still not right nine. A club nearly 800 m in debt spending money.
Hopefully new fffp rules are stricter and clubs actually get punished for not complying
His wages be ridiculous. The money clubs attract the top players with crazy crazy wages
It’s an unfair battle but that’s the way it is

25th August 2021 at 11:32 am #183405Sean, I don’t disagree re Real tbh they deserve to be in the financial mess they are in if the spend circa £140m buying a player in September they can sign for free in January. Which makes me wonder about the true validity of this story surely nobody can be that foolish.
In respect of the new FFP we will have to wait for the details from what I can make out it’s going to be less about restricting expenditure and more about controlling the wage bill.

25th August 2021 at 11:57 am #183406The new proposal, as Nine suggests, is all based on wage to turnover ratio. A cap, likely to be around 70% will be enforced.
Here comes the best bit… a punishment for breaching the cap would be a “luxury tax” which the offending club would pay and then that would be redistributed. In other words, if you have bottomless pockets (any of the oil states) it’s a license to do whatever you want.

25th August 2021 at 1:06 pm #183407Kane to stay at Spurs, he has announced. Bet he is cross.
Real to buy Mbappe. How can all these clubs with ENORMOUS debt carry on spending money they dont have. Its seems its OK for some eg Real, Barca,Utd, Juve etc. Yet City and Chelsea constantly get it because their owners invest. And no debt.
FFP is just a fraud like our government. One rule for some one rule for others.

25th August 2021 at 1:43 pm #183409Adlab, I’d say City are the last club to be claiming “one rule for some, one rule for others” after the FFP breaches they’ve got away with over the years while others try to stay within the rules.
The new FFP proposals are very catered towards PSG/City type of clubs. No doubt helped by the presence of the PSG chairman on UEFA’s executive committee. It’s going to become increasingly difficult for non state-owned clubs to compete while ever the only punishment for breaching fairplay regulations is to charge them a “tax”.

25th August 2021 at 1:45 pm #183410Hopefully the “tax” is going to be worked out like the “luxury” tax they have in US baseball (they have similair rules about going over “budget” with wages), and that’s simply the money “taxed”, rather than disappear into UEFA coffers (which it will, no doubt!), is actually shared between the other clubs….

25th August 2021 at 1:47 pm #183411Adders, have to agree with Sweddy there, City (or Chelsea fans for that matter) can simply STFU when it comes to other clubs spending (and if I’m honest, so can YooUtd fans too! That club is hardly finanicially innocent with all it’s leveraged debt!)

25th August 2021 at 1:48 pm #183412According to Fabrizio Romano, City bid as high as £130mil which would have smashed the record they recently set. Not bad for a club who can’t afford a new striker! Nice to see Spurs stand their ground though and refuse to be bullied into selling their asset for less than what they value him at. It remains to be seen how wise a move that is. I suspect Harry has little choice now but to get on with his football again and get back among the goals.
Interesting to see where City go now for a striker.
