That’s the thing, Sweddy, YooUtd haven’t had as many ducks lined up in a row as City can afford to have. They have a perfect storm of getting the best in every single element because they just chuck cash at it until they get it right…

Have YooUtd had the best manager in the world ever since SAF left? I’d say not, so buying a billion plus squid of established players isn’t going to work (when compared to the competition), buying young players to integrate into the team, wouldn’t work if you don’t already have the best manager, brilliant starting 11, youngsters coming thorugh the ranks isn’t going to work, as the squad if full up with a vast selection of established “superstars” bought by a succession of good but not great managers etc… just going round in circles…

Would agree that YooUtd have no “plan” in places as somebody else mentioned, but the point I’m making is City can afford to cater for every single plan… again and again and again…

Good points Lucky but Ten Hag has done very well in the CL. He’s not facing weaker teams in the CL so I’m not sure that theory stacks up. That CL run to the semi, they played against and outplayed a few teams with much stronger sides and resources.

I have no idea whether or not Ten Hag will succeed but I won’t be judging him for a while longer yet. I’ve mentioned my fears for a while that he could well do a De Boer and there’s a very real risk of that but long way to go yet.

Yeah Ed you are right, not all the champs league victories were against better sides but a decent number were and it cant be ignored, but again he had players suited to his style at ajax too. He is definitely a good coach I wouldnt even question that.

Yeah complete mystery is Alli. He was well on his way to smashing Lampard’s goalscoring exploits but just seems to have lost all his hunger. If there is another like him Chucky? Rashford potentially looks like going the same way. Had some injuries though so maybe a tad early to suggest. Can’t think of anyone else with such a fall.

Loaning players from Chelsea Lucky? Not for me. Can’t see it. One of hundreds we’ve been linked to. Won’t happen IMO. Not sure Utd have much to gain from it. Ziyech makes slightly more sense given his Ajax connection but I’m not keen on loaning players from sides around where we should be.

Hightown…thanks for reminding my fadeing memory. Stubbins was a Liverpool player but I never saw him in the red shirt, I watched him in Black and White, after the war. My memory is not as good as it was but I do remember Billy Liddle tormenting us! A great winger.!Almost as good as Tom Finney!!!!

I really feel like the window has gone for Poch to go to Man U. I’ve been an open fan of his for a long time, however I think too much damage to both parties has happened for that to be a real option anymore.

Poch never should have taken the PSG role. It was a hiding to nothing. He stood to win nothing out of the move. If you win the league, people will say “so what! Of course you should”. Anything short of winning the CL is a failure there and I’m sure Pep will attest to how difficult that challenge is.

On the other hand, if Ten Haag fails I really think Man U will struggle to get a really top level manager again for a very long time. I mean, if you are top manager and have options why would you go there? They have proven they are a basket case from top to bottom, again the chances of gaining anything for that manager is very slim.

Ratcliffe would be a great fit for United Ed especially as he’s a United fan and he could probably personally fund the purchase himself but “if the Club is for sale” are the operative words here and unless the Glazers want to sell the Club which seemingly they don’t they are just yesterday’s fish and chip paper.
