15th August 2022 at 9:38 pm #197711He’s still quite raw Ed, in more ways than one.

15th August 2022 at 9:48 pm #197712Oh definitely Mikus. That aggression can be a real asset if kept in check. I’m sure Klopp will get the best from him.

15th August 2022 at 10:12 pm #197716Thanks ED but have you told the same line to Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs? Sorry, left Utd out for the moment!!!!!! Agree, next week. is a BIG game, I really do not know how to describe Utd’s situation at moment, I do not know who is in charge or have they got to many in charge??? being a Mancunian I hope Utd do not loose but Liverpool will be to good for them I think and they will be organised. ETH, first, has to stop the leaking defence with a gameplay
City I think will struggle with the smaller squad at some stage but some of the Academy players are capable of stepping up to fill in. It is up to others to take advantage then because we will keep trying

15th August 2022 at 10:27 pm #197718It’s a testament to Klopp he was able to get the team within 1 point of City last season. What he’s created is a street fighter type side as I think Gary Neville said last season. But as I said in the predictions thread, the midfield is aging now and isn’t what it was. And up top they’ve lost the magic and fizz that front 3 had a few seasons ago and its to be seen how well Nunez will develop. So whilst I didn’t think we’d start this poorly, I just can’t see Klopp repeating last season’s achievements. Also at what point do we say Trent is becoming a liability regardless of his passing ability.

15th August 2022 at 10:59 pm #197721No problem with that. Straight red. He will learn. Had enough chances in first half. Issues if milner starting 2nd game of season. Disappointing result. Difficult already but FairPlay to palace. Great finish. Always that risk playing high but no complaints

16th August 2022 at 4:35 am #197722TAA always has been a liability in defence though. All these calls and labelling him the best right back in the world are proposterous. He may be assigned the role of a RB but he certainly does not play like one. He is essentially a wing back at best and has very limited defensive skills.
Weird for me that it took a moment of individual brilliance for Liverpool to breakdownt their defence._____________________________

16th August 2022 at 6:08 am #197723Trent is the best right back in the world… for Liverpool. Put him in a less adventurous team like Leicester or the very negative England and he would be dreadful. Its fine other team fans calling him out to be lesser than what he is because they’ll never get the chance to appreciate such a role. He is our playmaker but at right back, he is very unique. Having said that so far his forward play is off the boil and with that missing it probably accentuates his defensive shortcomings. When on form I wouldn’t change him for anyone in the world for how Klopp uses him.
I predicted before a ball was kicked that Nunez will struggle and not because he is a bad player but because the change in style to the team. You saw yesterday against a low block team how easy it is to defend as the liverpool attack is tightly congested. With Nunez as the focal point stsying up top it gave little room for Salah and Diaz to operate in. You could also see the large gap between him and the midfield which led to many predicable early long passes to him, again easy to defend against. Still plenty of time to sort this out but it could be with City already long gone and strolling to another (very boring) championship.
Fabinho apparently seen struggling with injury afterwards. Could say that explains his dismal performance but he’s been poor for about 6 months now which is very worrying. If he is injured the crys for a new midfielder will be even louder!

16th August 2022 at 8:04 am #197724Nunez looks like he’s going to be so easy to wind up. I imagine PL defenders will have a field day with him once they see the highlights from last night
Highlight Darwin Nunez vs Joachim Andersen.

16th August 2022 at 8:09 am #197725Ah I think he will
Learn his lesson Ed. Klopp wonโt let that happen againTrentโs heat map is the same as Kdb. Heโs a right back who drifts inside and plays very very high. Wouldnโt swap him for anyone in the world
We created about 6/7 huge chances. Creating chances wasnโt the problem but finishing them was.
Crazy amount of injuries we have already but no excuses. Very poor start to the season

16th August 2022 at 8:14 am #197726If only Klopp also said “no excuses” Sean ๐. It was the dry pitch last week and this week some witch at the club giving all his players injuries. He’s one of the worst for making excuses ๐.
I’m sure Nunez will learn too. As far as I know, he doesn’t have a particularly poor disciplinary record.

16th August 2022 at 8:25 am #197727Just watched the highlights of last night’s game. Two super goals. Quite similar in a way. What an idiot Nunez. Will it be just three games. Strikes me lost of defenders will look at that and think how easy it might be to wind him up. That’s where the manager comes in. If it was me there would be a heavy fine. If you did that in the pub and the police came it would be an arrest and probably in court.
Other than that it looked a good game.
The game v United will be even more interesting. Both teams will want to put the first two games behind them._____________________________

16th August 2022 at 8:28 am #197728Sean . TAA is absolutely top class going forward but not the greatest defender. Just like Cancelo at City. Both are more like midfield players and both get exposed by a tricky winger.
