Mak, Utd were certainly winning the ball higher up and looked defensively more organised too. We’ve been really struggling for clean sheets at home so was nice to get one yesterday. Rangnick had about half a day’s training with them so I’m not going to judge his impact for another 10 matches or so yet but a positive start nonetheless.

6th December 2021 at 3:06 pm #190766Whoever took over at Villa they were likely to improve Villa as they were a much better team than their position at the time suggested and Gerrard is a good motivator.
Rangnick will organise United to be better than they were under Ole which we saw some of yesterday they are only 3 points off of a top 4 place currently probably one of United, West Ham or Spurs to finish 4th with United the favourites according to SkyBet.Villa to finish comfortably half way or above imo.
Top 4 finish odds SkyBet 6/12
Manchester City
1/250
Liverpool
1/50
Chelsea
1/33
Manchester Utd
4/5
Tottenham
7/2
West Ham
4/1_____________________________

6th December 2021 at 5:53 pm #190768AnonymousCheers Ed. I think what would be worth seeing is more the lack of Ole, rather than the effects of a new man. The lack of Ole was I think 3 games before this already, undefeated. I have to say, I ma kinda looking forward to seeing how well this guy will do for you. I think there’s a good chance that he’ll get the job permanently. The guy is quality.

6th December 2021 at 6:06 pm #190769AnonymousI will say, I don’t like the BBC showing the list of 6 coming fixtures and saying “as a Utd fan, you’ll be thinking top 4? we should will all of those.”
Im not saying it isn’t ok to think that, as they are a very very sweet set of fixtures but as a fan for many many years, I’ve seen Liverpool come up against these easy runs and it never just never goes the way it “should”. In fact, I think my experience has taught me that not only should you not expect to win them all, expect to lose more points with them in a run than you’d expect to get as here or there games.
I dont know if it’s a mentality issue, or if the players tend to train easier but it never goes as it should.
I guess the one great thing about this is that Utd have these fixtures as they are re-uniting themselves with the love of the game. So, maybe they can actually win them all but I tell you what, don’t expect it.
Off the top of my head, Brentford, Brighton and Wolves especially wont be easy. You saw how hard Wolves were for us to break down at times. Ok, we missed 2 MASSIVE chances and had a few others but were pretty resilient, considering that they were up against Liverpool full strength 11. Not many teams have kept us as quiet as that… So I just disagree with the ramping up of expectation that you see from these Pundits.
Be excited that things are interesting again for Utd but don’t jump gun and start assigning the next 18 points into their points tally lads 😛
As for yourself Ed, you can actually look forward to the rest of your season. As others will know, yourself, me and some others on here have long ago agreed that Ole wasnt up to the job. You’ve got a real manager in charge now and the squad to make it happen for you. A good 2nd half of the season can set you lads up for next one. I know Im meant to hate Utd but I’d like it to be a 4 horse race. I think it’s too late for this season TBH but some steps in the right direction and still being in the CL is something also.

6th December 2021 at 6:13 pm #190770Don’t know, Mak…quite enjoying it being a 3 horse race myself! 🤣🤣 but you’re right, I think Rangnick will undoubtedly improve United from the Ole days, but to be fair, that’s not difficult. I’m just looking forward to seeing what he does with Pogba. He’s got to be finished there, surely. Off to PSG where life will be nice and easy for him, no doubt.

6th December 2021 at 8:51 pm #190775That’s sums it up for Everton doesn’t it? Think you have the lead just before half time only to be ruled out for extremely narrow offside then go behind in stoppage time.
It don’t rain it pours, but to only have the squad they do after the money they gave spent is pathetic.
Can’t put any of that on rafa though as he has spent like 2m and his recruits have been better than the over priced group of tits he inherited… its a shit show

6th December 2021 at 8:52 pm #190776I can only see United getting better under Rangnick and they’ve probably got a better squad than those around them also fighting for 4th place.
I think there’s every chance of United going on a bit of a run from here and they are rightly currently favourites to get back in to the too 4.

6th December 2021 at 8:52 pm #190777AnonymousYa HH, Ole was so bad that you could almost see a particularly talented communicator who didnt have a footballing background, do better.
Not gonna bother watching the match tonight. Will check out the red card thing later I suppose but just not in the mood tbh.

6th December 2021 at 8:56 pm #190778AnonymousIt’s funny alright LD, in light of the incredibly arrogant remarks that we’ve heard from Everton’s chairman recently. I don’t know anything about him but only a true idiot spouts on about how he regularly hears from other clubs executives, when reaching a dilemma “How would Everton do it?”… Donald Trump levels of delusional narcissism.

6th December 2021 at 8:58 pm #190779Ye I think so as well nine. All the games utd have our winnable. New managers bounce and some will get carried away. 4th is there for the taking. Loads of the season left for utd to tint it around,

6th December 2021 at 9:03 pm #190781Mak, I can assure you I and most Utd fans certainly don’t expect us to win all those games 😁. Only person that thinks we’ll win all those is Sean. He thinks we’ll win every week! 4th is the target now and that’s not going to be easy with West Ham, Spurs and Arsenal all battling for it. Spurs under Conte can’t be discounted and West Ham are flying under Moyes.

6th December 2021 at 9:06 pm #190783Disatorous recruitment over a period of time has left Everton with a poor squad and no money to spend then appointing a Manager despised by the Everton fans because of his Liverpool connections and for calling Everton “a small Club” has just added to the problem.
Everton are falling like a stone and currently you couldn’t write off their chances of getting immersed in a fully fledged relegation battle.
Even the 27th minute protest by the fans was ineffective.
Poor game.

6th December 2021 at 9:32 pm #190787Thought that myself mikius. Nothing in that mate
Ye nine, Rafa really is on a hiding to nothing. Hes in serious trouble now and he would have needed to something very special there to win over the fans
Money absolutely wasted over the last 5 years on average players. Still this is really poor under rafa who like Jose, is finished as a top manager in my opinion
