4th December 2021 at 10:25 pm #190698I agree with that in general threeps but we all have squads of 25 players and the luck is in who is injured not the number of injuries imo. No squad will have 2 Salah’s or 2 kante’s for example.

4th December 2021 at 10:33 pm #190699Take last season, it was a much shorter season with high frequency of matches. There was only ever going to be one winner and that was the team with the largest amount of quality players. When their first choice got tired or injured they could swap then out with minimal decrease in quality compared to the other teams. Every team last year suffered with the fatigue that the truncated season brought but City were in a much better position than others to deal with it.
This year we dont have such a problem which is why a team like liverpool who have a very high quality first choice could win if they are lucky that they don’t pick-up many injuries. City and Chelsea this isn’t as much an issue with their “big” squads.
Edited for typos. Typing like Sean tonight π€£

4th December 2021 at 10:38 pm #190703Threeps we are talking about winning the title, chelsea’s squad players are good enough to keep us on track for top 4 if key players are out but you really believe they are good enough to come in and keep a title challenge going?
That’s what you and Sean are not getting here I think we arguing different points. For sure chelseas second eleven is better than pools second eleven, but that means bugger all when it comes to winning titles.
Unless either team has their key players fit for the majority of the season neither team will win league.

4th December 2021 at 11:03 pm #190704No team in the history of everything has won the league without utilising squad players. This is where luck comes in, if you are lucky you won’t have to do this so much and can play your best players most of the time. Take liverpools title winning season, we were lucky and didn’t need to rotate so much so we won despite City having a squad with more quality depth.
I’m not sure why you are arguing about this it’s not exactly a new concept I’ve dreamt up.

Exactly threeps because if you do have to you won’t win the league. Especially this year with the competition so high.
I know you are not dreaming up new concepts here neither am I bud.

5th December 2021 at 8:06 am #190708I personally cannot see anything but a City league title they class and never rely on luck, when they win they always deserve it and when they drop points they always unlucky, I think besides the quality of the players it has a lot to with the team management’s.

5th December 2021 at 8:41 am #190709So every game city lose they are unlucky rover? Donβt get that all
For any team to be challenging city is remarkable. They have the best manager, the best players and they can spend what they want. They have an absolutely massive advantage over every team
Lucky, I get what you are saying chum and I totally agree with threeps. Very earlier days. That was the 1st time Chelsea had conceded over 1 goal. No way will I write them off.

5th December 2021 at 9:38 am #190710City were lucky to get away with a point at home against Southampton!
If City lose de Bruyne to a season ending career than that could be deemed as bad luck and would have a big say on whether they win or not. But things like fatigue, knocks etc City are the team best to cope with it because of the quality in depth they have. But every team needs luck to win a league.

5th December 2021 at 10:04 am #190711That was the point I was trying to convey three p’s. Pep was livid with the Referee on the foul on Gundogen. Okay it wasn’t malicious, but it was reckless. At this time of the year, Managers are precious because they don’t want the worry of losing players especially influential ones.
That’s why the squad as a whole is dependent because of the aspirations of trying to progress and win trophies and essentially trying to sustain a challenge.

That I completely agree with. As I said from experience of my teams past title wins, we were fortunate that multiple key players were not injured for weeks and weeks at the same time.

5th December 2021 at 1:44 pm #190721Talking of key players, I still donβt think City have replaced Aguero. He scored some real key goals for City. Yes, they won last season without him playing as much, but they also won the league under a lockdown year with a winning points total of just 86 points, 13 points lower than previous seasons, so we need to have that context, not that they didnβt deserve to win it, but the competition was much reduced. Yes they are still scoring goals, but my point would be Aguero gave them more of an edge. One possible bit of hope for the teams chasing?

5th December 2021 at 2:34 pm #190732Anyone see that incident where the Leeds player was pushed but had his name taken instead, even the commentator couldn’t believe it, sometimes I wonder about these refs.

5th December 2021 at 2:42 pm #190733KNow what you mean, Norwich ran in front of an onrushing Kane, obviously trying an accidental “collision” (a la Rudiger!), and won the free-kick… absolute obstruction on Kane…
