30th November 2021 at 11:39 am #190216I think the general consensus and feel which had already been exercised by my own thoughts is in essence don’t be too hard on yourselves over 2 points dropped.
Of course from my own point of view, that result help us narrow the gap and I’m sure Manchester City fans would be pleased too. This forum ultimately comprises of a number of different club supports – 3 of which in the running so far for the Premier League Title.
So there is a little bit of preciousness. From a personal point of view in the past, I allowed disappointing results to consume me and also comments published by fans that I didn’t particularly like or agree with. There is perspective. I think being hard on ourselves is more damaging than good for mental health.
The media don’t help these days excessively analyzing what went wrong. These Managers at the top are tactically knowledgeable. The challenge is being able to combat the different opposition and get over the line consistently with the resources you have and the choices and decisions made.

Much more important things in life than football Nil at the end of the day it’s just a game!

30th November 2021 at 11:56 am #190220Brian, City have 3 out of 4 last titles, and in the present have the same manager and arguably a better side. Therefore imo they are favourites for the title this year. They are of course not certain to win.
“what happened in the past has no bearing on what is happening now” is not a sound argument against this assessment at all.
City are an outstanding team, and chelsea fans expressing we need to be better to beat them to title do not need lectures on stoicism my friend, please understand what I am saying.

30th November 2021 at 12:06 pm #190227AnonymousMessi winning the Ballon D’or.. what a joke.
There are probably 100 players who are better than him now.
I wouldnt have him in our team but he’s the best in the world? LOL

30th November 2021 at 12:06 pm #190228Fans of those clubs have been spoilt of those Titles in recent years just at Man United were in the 90s and Liverpool were in the 80s.
We ourselves had to wait a while for ours 😉

30th November 2021 at 12:15 pm #190229AnonymousThreeps, i think the reason we’re seeing doom and gloom after a poor result is down to an awareness of the quality of the other 2. A sense that you cant afford to drop a single point but the reality is of course very different.
Not only are the top 3 incredible, the PL is more competitive than it’s ever been. This means that the top 3 will all lose points but when it’s your team, it feels like you’re the only ones.

30th November 2021 at 12:19 pm #190230Mak, a Paris based player winning a Paris based award, who would of thought it?!
Agree total joke but not unexpected. Lewadowski should have won.
I don’t like the guy but this is class from Messi: “I wanted to say to Robert that it was an honour to go up against him,” said Messi. “He deserved to win it last year.”
Deserved to win it this too!

30th November 2021 at 12:23 pm #190233Mak, completely agree with all of that. The strength and quality of the competitors fuels more feeling of disappointment when points dropped. That shouldn’t be the case in the human mind, especially when you’re still the top of the tree.
From a Neutrals point of view, one can argue this is better than just one team in total dominance.
If we back track for example to our comments after the Brighton game, and fast-forward to the present, it presents us with facts that results are capable of changing.
I haven’t really seen for a while 3 teams after 13 games this close to each other in points.

30th November 2021 at 12:24 pm #190234I think those reports on Ronaldo seem unfair towards him. Looks like the media trying to stir things.

30th November 2021 at 12:25 pm #190235Yeah I get that Mak and its possibly going to be very close to the end but Chelsea fans moaning about not winning the league until they start taking their chances is a bit rich from a team that has spanked the likes of Norwich 7-0 and Spurs and Leicester 3-0 away. They have scored the 2nd most in the league and are top!
I could understand it more if it were fans from Norwich, Burnley or Spurs feeling sorry for themselves!
Like to point out I did say it was fans of the top 3 not just Chelsea. Should of been more careful with this I admit as they are a sensitive bunch on here.

30th November 2021 at 12:47 pm #190237Yeah but threeps it’s not moaning it’s expressing an opinion, ie we will not beat city to the title without being better in final third. that’s an assessment that’s all, no shame if we don’t win it and no reason to “moan”.
It would be like pool fans who believe you can’t win title without defence getting better, that’s not moaning that’s having an opinion on what is required for you to win the title.

30th November 2021 at 1:06 pm #190239Agree it is like Pool fans moaning about that, usually after we conceed silly goals. Or when we don’t score we deffo need a creative midfielder or an out and out scorer, even in our dominating league win I heard this. Think I saw on TT someone say we need a “proper scorer” desite our forwards scoring loads this season, although that was probably our (Greek) village idiot. Fans want perfection every time and that unrealistic.
Critisim is fair enough, especially when well thought about with proposed ideas. But I had a look at the TT Chelsea Man Utd game page and there’s a lot of comments as on here, that you wont win the league again (not just this season, again!) unless you put away those chances. And that is after putting away more than your fair share of chances in other matches this season.
We can agree to disagree as we seem to be going around in circles. Games coming thick and fast and who knows might even be City fans turn to be gloomy?
