Hey Chuck, I’m sure Conte would love a half billion, after all he needs to replace about 7-8 players. Levy can afford it despite their heavy debt . Derby here we come.

29th November 2021 at 7:50 pm #190173Lucky…it was in no way to be condesensing, I was just putting my opinion of many years of watching football seeing more downs than ups and concluding that fans expect too much at times.City does not come into it
I just do not let football get me down that much but accept others may see it as a way of life.
In my mind Chelsea, City and Liverpool are the best in the country and I would not venture to say who will win the title, that makes sense to me, equally, I would not be that shocked if another team appeared to challenge that_____________________________

30th November 2021 at 7:57 am #190186Brian, as I explained in my previous posts my frustrations are not about the United result that was just a symptom of the cause which is wastefulness of numerous chances when completely dominating teams which has dogged Chelsea for far too long and I can’t see Chelsea winning another PL title until they solve that problem.
I never expected Chelsea to win the title this season both City and Liverpool are a long way in front of Chelsea in their development and the length of tenure of their Managers I was hoping for 3rd place and the closing of the gap on City and Liverpool which is still well on.
I’ve lived through the good the bad and the ugly in my Chelsea supporting life including the blue buckets collecting money to save the Bridge being bulldozed by property developers and if it all ended today I would be more than happy that I’ve seen Chelsea achieve things I never expected them to achieve with 5 PL titles and 2 Champions League wins, I’m very happy with what we’ve achieved where we are now and where we are going.
If only we could put an end to wasting all the chances we are creating when dominating teams that’s all! π

30th November 2021 at 8:09 am #190189Blaze, I think Conte may need a bit more than half a billion given how poor the Spurs squad team looked v Mura.

30th November 2021 at 9:12 am #190191So Chelsea draw against a very defensive and well organised Utd team who at the start of the season were predicated by some for a title challenge, and now they are wasteful which has dogged them for a long time. What about the 4-0 against Juve, the 3-0 against Leicester, the 3-0 against Spurs and not forgetting of course the 7-0 against Norwich? Were they just off days to the normal wasteful ones?
It’s a 3 horse race at the moment and all 3 will drop points at various points in season. It seems that when one of them does their supporters think its all over for the title and basically feel sorry for themselves. It’s a long season, everyone will have a bad game now and again (is a draw against a Utd team who needed some sort of performance really a bad result?). Why not enjoy the completion and see what happens instead of all the doom and gloom?

30th November 2021 at 9:26 am #190193I don’t think it’s so much doom and gloom Threeps. I think it’s more this overwhelming desire (for their team) to be ruled out of the race by other fans. Everyone wants to rule their own team out so as to not get that dreaded favourites tag. I find myself doing it a lot. Saying another team will win it and your own team can’t seems to make it easier to handle the inevitable bad times. Nobody wants to be reminded of the time they banged on about how their team would win the league before ultimately finishing a disappointing third. Everyone wants to be the underdog whether that be in a match or over a season. We blame injuries, rubbish managers, lack of form, lack of rest from European games. You see the managers doing it a lot and I think it eventually rubs off on the fans.
The only thing that is clear is that the winner will be one of Chelsea, City or Liverpool. They’ve all looked brilliant at times and all have looked poor at other times. There’s far too little between them and far too much football still to play to rule any of them out.

30th November 2021 at 10:35 am #190195Ed no games here, City have to be favourites. how can the winners 3 of last 4 seasons not be?
Threeps, this season is not separate from the last, it was common knowledge that chelsea were not taking their chances and far from clinical in front of goal hence 95m spent to bring lukaku back. We have had some very good results this year but we are still not making the most of things when we are dominating and the recent games against Burnley and utd are prime examples of games we utterly dominated but failed to capitalise on. Sure the 3-0 against Leicester for example was a good result but should have been more based on the chances we created.
All we are saying right now is unless that improves it is likely that city will overtake us and we wont win the league. That wouldn’t be a tragedy as we are delighted with the progress of our team anyway.

30th November 2021 at 10:38 am #190198Also Ed, I don’t think any chelsea fan has ruled chelsea out of title race or has any care or desire for fans of other teams to do so, really don’t understand that.
Chelsea are absolutely in the race for the title, make no mistake about it

30th November 2021 at 10:47 am #190200I hear what you’re saying lucky and I’ve heard Liverpool fans say we should score more because we do miss a lot of chances. This is despite the fact we are scoring loads and breaking records with the current top 3 highest scorers on the league. I think fans expect too much perfection sometimes. Chelsea, City and Liverpool are all in with a shout of the title as it stands Chelsea are no 1. I’d still put City as favorites as both Chelsea and Liverpool still need to visit them.
Ed know what you mean, it’s self preservation. I’ve mentioned this to a couple of Liverpool fans on here before too. Personally I take each game as it comes whilst enjoying it until it’s obvious we are out of contention. But it does sound like a few Chelsea fans are feeling a bit sorry for themselves despite being top and having some exceptional results this season, and that I don’t get.

30th November 2021 at 10:52 am #190201Threeps, a little frustration is completely different from self pity bud so please get that straight.
Look at the points accrued by pool and city in the 18/19 and 19/20 seasons, there isnt much margin for error going up against such opposition and 4 points dropped in games chelsea utterly dominated is just reason for slight frustration! (Given the above and the fact that our aim is to win the league) Why we are being begrudged the right to be slightly frustrated here is beyond me π

30th November 2021 at 10:53 am #190202P.s threeps I agree, City are favourites and all we have said here is for Chelsea to best them to title we have to be more clinical. What’s the problem with that? Seems pretty rational to me.

30th November 2021 at 11:00 am #190204Not me Ed I say it how I see it and judging by the comments on the Chelsea site I’m not alone in seeing it that way and these are fans who watch Chelsea week in and week out.
Chelsea are still in the title race but winning it might depend on if we can get Lukaku fit and keep him fit and get him playing like he did at Inter he could be the difference but Chelsea had circa 50 chances in their last two home games v Burnley and United after completely dominating both games but only scored 2 goals and ended dropping 4 points on the back of 2 draws and I don’t think either City or Liverpool would have let those points slip.
Not taking our chances in a number of games has been going on for a while now and last season Jorginho was Chelsea’s top scorer with 7 goals and he takes the penalties. Lukaku was meant to be the solution and hopefully when he’s over his injury and firing on all cylinders he still might be.π€ππ€π

30th November 2021 at 11:00 am #190205Begrudging your right to be slightly frustrated… a little over dramatic isn’t it? You can be slightly frustrated all you like I and no one else will begrudge you in the slightest.
Sounds to me a bit more like self pity but you’re more than welcome to insist its slight frustration if that makes you happy.

30th November 2021 at 11:09 am #190206Seems a bit strange that on a football site fans can’t openly discuss what they see as the deficiencies of their team without being criticised and accused of self pity.
As Lucky said “City are favourites and all we have said here is for Chelsea to beat them to the title we have to be more clinical. Whatβs the problem with that? Seems pretty rational to me.”

30th November 2021 at 11:15 am #190207That’s exactly it though threeps do you really think for one second nine or myself for example are feeling sorry of ourselves? Get out of here! π€£
We are simply frustrated with the 4 points dropped against Burnley and utd its as simple as that because the margins are so tight and we have a chance of winning the league.
If you wont accept that and insist it’s self pity then you are begrudging our frustration because that’s all it is and we can’t express it with out psycho bloody analysis from the likes of you, Ed and Brian π

30th November 2021 at 11:18 am #190208My original viewpoint is getting to be distorted and convoluted now.
Lucky…what happened in the past has no bearing on what is happening now. Nine, yes I can remember Chelsea having bad times, not as bad as us though going to Southend, Carlisle and Stockport!!!!!! I was also referring to ALL fans not just Chelsea, even City fans expect too much every game. Every fan wants improvement but they should accept it cannot happen every time. City waste chances by the bucketful so do Chelsea and Liverpool, I would say that is what happens.I think I will stay on my City thread because this subject is clearly sensitive_____________________________

30th November 2021 at 11:22 am #190210Big Girls Blouse/Puppov… reckon there’s about 17 other managers along with Conte who wish they could spend half a billion every transfer window, wouldn’t just include Conte in that bracket! π
As for the “Title Race”, as much as all the neutrals would love for LiVARberoOol to win it (mainly beacuse we all dislike the other two a lot more!), they just don’t have the squad depth… it’s a straight 2 horse race between the two Money Clubs.
Listen to your Uncle Banjo!
