What a strike from Garnacho, glad the pundits can see it for what it was without the tribal nonsense. Someone will need to do something really special to beat that this season.
Mainoo looked decent too, very promising debut. Calm, collected, good in the tackle, good passer, composed, holds his position too. Looking forward to seeing him develop.
Good day for us, Rashford and martial on the scoresheet too, Bruno assisting and linking up more higher up the pitch.

26th November 2023 at 6:57 pm #210993Btw, did I hear the presenter on SS1 say United were the form team? Did anyone else hear it? If so, on what is it based?
Erm, form… 😄. It’s literally that simple. Before the game, Utd have the most points in the last 5 games. Agree with everything about Utd being poor at the moment. Really not sure what’s going on with us this season but we’re picking up the points and that’s all you can ask for when you’re not playing well.
Garnacho, just unreal. Mainoo will be a star. For all the money spent, Utd’s academy again proving to be one of the very best with those 2 stars in the most recent FA youth cup win.

26th November 2023 at 6:59 pm #210994The fact Utd haven’t even got going and wen’re 2 behind Spurs and 4 & 5 behind Liverpool and City is insane. I’d take that all day long.

26th November 2023 at 7:21 pm #210996Agreed Ed. All about getting the wins. Now they have to push on and show they get beat teams in the top 10. Any team they have played who is half decent have beaten them easily enough. Now they need to get players back and get results at tougher grounds and at home.

26th November 2023 at 7:23 pm #210997Never get that clean sheet stuff. Unless not conceding many goals either. Hadn’t he conceded about 30 goalsin16/16games?

26th November 2023 at 8:35 pm #210999Form is relative and I believe utds good form coincides with an easy run of games that any top 6 side would expect to do well. The times they’ve been up against decent sides in City and Newcastle they were badly outclassed.

26th November 2023 at 8:53 pm #211000I still think over reaction to utds start threeps. So many players out. Lot of fans lost trust in the manager far to quickly. It’s such early days in the league. Let’s see we’re everyone is on the 3rd of jan

26th November 2023 at 9:37 pm #211001Oh there’s zero risk of anyone getting carried away by this form thing. It’s more just an interesting observation than anything else, that a team who are playing as bad as we’ve been playing have the most points in the league over the last 5 games. A mere 2 points behind a Spurs side people were tipping for a title challenge and praising the manager for such a good start.
As you both say, we’ve not really beaten anyone of note. Things haven’t really gone our way in some of those big games. Had a stonewall pen turned down away at Spurs and Bruno misses a sitter. On another day we go in leading at half time then who knows. Similarly, at Arsenal, the finest of margins sees Garnacho’s late winner chalked off. City get the dodgiest of pens at OT. I’m not saying we go on to win all or any of those but on another day, the luck goes the other way. All I’m bothered about for now is that we’re picking up the points while we’re at this low point. I keep going back to Liverpool having that really awful spell (6 home defeats in a row) when Van Dijk got injured and how they stuck by Klopp despite lots of fans wanting him gone. I really think we have to do the same and give Ten Hag chance to turn it around.

26th November 2023 at 10:26 pm #211002Very surprised at how little criticism Poch and Chelsea are getting after another defeat with all the money they’ve spent since Boehly came in.

26th November 2023 at 10:57 pm #211003Thing is with Man Utd, even though they’ve obviously spent a lot over the last decade and not bought particularly well imo, they’ve still bought some quality which will tend to still keep them within touching distance of the top clubs. So they can only fall so far down. Indeed the lowest position they’ve dropped to over the last decade was actually a decade ago in 2013 when they finished 7th under Moyes. Their average finishing position over the last decade I think is around 4-5th. So I think because of that there perhaps is not enough impetus to really go for a title challenge. Put another way, whilst there may have been some lows over the last decade, there’s not really been a catastrophe either. Is it a bit like when Arsenal constantly finished in the top 4 under Wenger with the odd domestic trophy? Did things get too comfortable? When they had two consecutive 8th place finishes under Arteta did that then focus minds at the club to turn things around?
If Ten Hag does steady the ship and finish top 4 again this season, the fans may seem happy with that. But is the club just going to be locked into another top 4 cycle kidding themselves they’re getting closer but actually just standing still? Is their spending power keeping them in that cycle?

27th November 2023 at 5:20 am #211005“Liverpool having that really awful spell (6 home defeats in a row) when Van Dijk got injured and how they stuck by Klopp despite lots of fans wanting him gone”
You’ve mentioned that a few times but I never saw it. OK maybe one or two idiots on TT but there’s one who screams for Klopp and/or the “Yankees” to go after any game we’ve dropped points. I think Liverpool fans and Klopp have an affinity and that’s because we can see what he’s trying to do. We all knew at that time what problems the team were facing with crazy defensive issues.
“Very surprised at how little criticism Poch and Chelsea are getting after another defeat with all the money they’ve spent since Boehly came in.”
I think we’ve all already said it! It’s crazy how that club has been run under this tenure. Talk of getting Osimhen in Janaury which will be another 100m I guess. With all that spent on a team like Chelsea you’d have to say CL qualification is minimum. Can’t see Poch lasting the season.

27th November 2023 at 7:04 am #211006Ye I never saw that either Ed. There was absolutely no clamour for kloop. Certainly not within my circle. Klopp had plenty in the bank. I really don’t know we’re you get that form to be honest. There would have been absolute murder of Klopp was sacked. I can’t say to many utd fans be upset if ten hagg was upset a month ago. During this period they are bottom of an easy group
You could say the same about the games they have won recently Ed. They were awful 1st half yday and only for bad finishing shoukd have been a few goals down. Fulham and Brentford didn’t deserve to lose. Corrrect me when I’m wrong but when is the last time utd beat a top 8 side away from home? Wolves had a stone wall penalty not given. We could all use bad luck for lack of points
As I said many times, it’s early doors. Very early doors to be writing anyone off. Utd are missing loads of players. Let’s see how they get on now for the month of December.

Yeah it definitely wasn’t the majority Threeps but with the amount of fans the likes of Liverpool have, you’re always going to get a wide range of opinions. It’s always nigh on impossible to gauge fans opinions amongst such a big fan base but as someone who reads a lot of forums and social media, I saw a lot who were wanting him gone. As usual, it tends to be the noisy minority and fans of a newer generation but Liverpool are no different to any other club in that there will always be a section of fans who crave instant success and failure to provide that results in a lot of moaning.

27th November 2023 at 7:18 am #211009Yeah Sean, Utd exactly the same. Seen loads of Utd fans wanting Ten Hag out. Would never claim otherwise. Kloppout was trending a lot on social media during that poor spell though. Utd exactly the same. I’m not claiming Liverpool are unique in this respect at all. All fans are the same.
Agree about Wolves and said at the time, Utd got lucky there. Not for a minute saying we should have won those games I mentioned. Just saying it’s been a catalogue of close margins all season, both for and against.
Honestly can’t remember the last time Utd beat a top 8 side away from home. Not great at all and Ten Hag will need to change that or he’ll be gone and rightly so.

27th November 2023 at 7:25 am #211010Let’s see how utd get in now Ed. He needs time. He needs players back. Huge moth for utd. They get the two wins they need in the cl and get good results in dec fixtures and are still around the top 4 then it’s huge progress from a few weeks ago. Let’s just see we’re everyone is after 19 games and end of jan

27th November 2023 at 7:37 am #211011You already know my feelings on injuries Sean 😄. I can cut Ten Hag a bit of slack because he’s not been at the club for very long but I just really dislike the injuries excuse. Utd shouldn’t be putting in the performances we have been doing, injuries or not. I get that Martinez is crucial to the build up but it’s entirely on him that the style falls apart without him. Anyway, enough about Utd from me.
Villa the big surprise for me so far. Emery doing a great job. Brighton looked good again. Top 4 so hard to call this season. City, Arsenal and Liverpool look dead certs to me but that last spot could really go to any of Newcastle, Spurs, Villa, Utd, Brighton. Even Chelsea if they get their act together.

27th November 2023 at 9:09 am #211012Spurs should have buried villa yesterday. No doubting how well villa are doing but I was really surprised at their tactics yesterday and at anfiejd. High mine with very little press. We should have beaten them by about 7.
Still, he’s doing a great job and villas home form is excellent.
On injuries, I just think cm made a very valid point weeks ago. Loads of injuries have a detrimental affect on the team. Utd, Newcastle, Chelsea injuries are crazy.
The problem is, us fans can see it but the media and owners etc don’t give any leeway to. Managers. They just slaughter them and sack them

27th November 2023 at 10:35 am #2110131-2 injuries and the team should be able to cope.
4,5,6 + and it obviously becomes a lot harder. Especially if they are long term.
