Brian, haha, thank you and appreciate your compliment. I agree with your points and I believe we have common ground in the way we follow the game. Things can change and fluctuate.
If you’re getting too drawn into other people’s punditry, stats etc, it’s taking the organic fun from just enjoying the purity of it.

25th October 2022 at 7:31 am #200321Jesus lafs not get o to pundits. They are an absolute joke these days.
I had to watch liveroool game in silent the other day as jenas and mcmanmann were on it.
Danny mills is the worst. Merson contradicts himself every week
Only ones I can watch is nev and carragher. I like Keane but he was spouting none sense about ronaldo at weekend

25th October 2022 at 8:40 am #200322Brian, just to clarify I posted a view after the weekends fixtures of it “Doesnβt look like anyone is going to be capable of challenging City for the title this season.”
You rightly say “I do not rule anybody out” I subsequently posted
“As to the title race the proof of the pudding will be in the eating only 8 points separate the top 6 Chelsea and Newcastle are just 5 points off of City and Newcastle and Chelsea are just 2 points off of Spurs you canβt definitely rule anyone out at this stage and stranger things have happened ie Leicester City but in reality I really canβt see a title winner other than City in that top 6.”
That’s just my opinion Brian and I’m sticking to it and if you took a straw poll on here I suspect based on previously stated opinions that would be the opinion of the majority on here too as I suspect it would be the opinion of the majority of football fans.
This site functions primarily on opinions and if people disagree they can say why they disagree or they can scroll on by there’s no need for anybody to get silly about it just because they want “anybody but City” to win the title and such reactions certainly won’t stop me giving my opinions on the title race going forwards and nor should it.
I would love to believe Chelsea are in the title race for instance and given that they are only 5 points off of City currently I guess they would fall under the ” don’t rule anybody out” category but I don’t for a minute think Chelsea are in the title race I would be delighted in a top 4 finish but even that will be a struggle imo.
As for the betting odds that’s just a bit of fun and I agree it won’t have any bearing on the outcome remembering that once Leicester were 5000/1 for the title and look what happened but it does reflect where people are currently putting their money. Peace and Love as always. Cheers 9’s

25th October 2022 at 9:06 am #200323Brian, bookies odds are not pulled from thin air they are weighted very carefully.
The odds for City winning the league currently are 1/5 on which is 5 times from 6 or approx 83%. What is 4 titles in 5 years? 80%. This is a reasonable estimate imo.
Nothing is certain, but city are overwhelming odds on favourites for title.

25th October 2022 at 9:09 am #200324Nine, a 5000/1 long shot coming good does not mean the odds were wrong or meaningless. I think more than 5000 of these 5000/1 shots fail for every 1 that comes good. Just we don’t remember them, we remember Leicester.

25th October 2022 at 9:52 am #200325Agreed Lucky me quoting the 5000/1 Leicester title win was just me trying to amplify you can’t actually rule anything out even the most unlikely.

Lucky, 4 titles in the last 5 years with Liverpool City’s only real challenger in that period floundering and very unlikely to challenge City this season and City even stronger with Haaland underlines why City are odds on favourites this season even though as you rightly say and we both agree nothing is certain.

25th October 2022 at 12:11 pm #200329Yeah good appointment for Villa. Typical for us that we now face them twice in a row with a new manager. Would have much preferred facing a Gerrard side. Hate facing sides with new managers as you’re almost certainly facing them at their absolute best with everyone desperate to impress.

25th October 2022 at 2:14 pm #200330Nine/Lucky. re Favourites..City. I get what you are both saying but I still do not understand it or why. When City were a “poor” team and fighting relegation I still went to a match thinking we could win this game, I knew it was wishful thinking most of time but I never accepted defeat before a game was played and being pragmatic never expected a win!!!!! I just laugh at all the seriousness of how fans see games now, they become statistical genius’s . As far as bookie go , of course they will always offer what is best for them, at any moment and change it when necessary. If City loose two on the trot watch the odds change then, however, that is there business and they are good at it, and wealthy, but little to do a game of football. I am sure Leicester will fancy there chances on Saturday, if not, they deserve what they get.

25th October 2022 at 2:25 pm #200331Sean…I still miss Hansen and Lawrenson….like you cannot stand the pundits of to day, expert know it all from some who have never been great themselves but good at moving images around a TV screen, how ludircous is that, all. ..after the event. As I have eluded to before. Football will never be a science, just an art form

25th October 2022 at 2:53 pm #200332Nil…we all have our views and that is just right, probably more disagree that agree with any one topic but that is the nature of football and how it is seen. I honestly think Posters on here are very good at a whole range of topics better than I have experienced elsewhere. It is also the nature of forums because some can express themselves very well and I hope my words to you expresso themselves OK because I certainly did not mean any offence, I had a smile on my face when I typed, I just enjoy your OTT Liverpool love….I love City…but not that much!!!!! maybe something I am missing

25th October 2022 at 3:07 pm #200333Nil…as a PS….I think statistics are bunkum, what purpose other than a discussion point for TV do they serve??? A coach will know where they have gone wrong/right, if not, he is not good enough. Players will know where they have played well or not. I read the match report Wolves/Leicester it stated Wolves had majority of play , Leicester had few shots but scored with every one, How much value on that? They clock miles on how far a player runs, yet we know some of the most dangerous players run less than others I suppose though in the modern game it is a tool and if a team picks player A who runs 5 miles a match is better than Player B who only runs 3 miles. This begs the question is Player A or b the better player?
Something for you to think about to night

That’s fair enough Brian, but I assume you never went into a season back then thinking “We can win the league this season”. Obviously anything can happen in a one off game but over the course of a 38 game season, the result is pretty predictable, hence the odds.

25th October 2022 at 3:55 pm #200336Brian, there’s always the chance of anything happening in a one off game ie Forest v Liverpool and I’m sure the Leicester fans go into Saturday’s game with a little bit more hope now but it’s more hope than expectation.π

25th October 2022 at 4:45 pm #200337Brian, I don’t understand why you don’t understand why everyone believes city are clear favourites for the title π€ They are your team, haven’t you noticed how bloody brilliant they are? π
Would love someone else to win it, and someone else could, but it is a long shot.

25th October 2022 at 6:45 pm #200338Brian donβt listen to a word of it from these losers π
They just know their own clubs canβt win because they are crap (especially the spuds who never win anything) so they have given up and handed it to city
Of course youβre right Iβm thinking that city are a bit crap too just less so then theirs β¦
However you will come a sad and distant second to the mighty Arsenal and our paper thin squad π
Shame on the rest of you β¦. Especially you Nancy π
