I think I’ve sussed this season now in that all the top teams are deliberately being crap in order to ensure Ole keeps his job at Old Trafford.
In all seriousness, not one good performance from any of the teams expected to fight for the top places. The CL is not an easy call this season either as there isn’t a stand out team in any of the big leagues this season

13th December 2020 at 8:05 pm #172024AnonymousThe players are just too tired, there are too many games and there’s no end to it but at least all PL sides will be going through it now. We’ll see what they think about it in Sheffield soon enough.

13th December 2020 at 8:21 pm #172029The Pandemic grinding the Sport to a Halt has had Ramifications as we’ve witnessed.
I still feel the Clubs with the Bigger Squads will be more advantageous though that logic as we’ve seen has been out of the Window. Injuries.
The Underlying Answer Purely and Simply is Rest and Recovery.

13th December 2020 at 8:57 pm #172034Wasn’t there a Simpsons episode where Homer became a boxer and kept winning because he just waited for his opponents to tire themselves out? Ole take note.

13th December 2020 at 10:25 pm #172039AnonymousHoly hell they lost to Burnley? He’s gone in the morning. there’s no way around this. A shame really and if they do give him the sack, hope he has some success somewhere else but ya,m out of his depth. he doesn’t seem to have the tiger blood that Ole does, winning when all signs are pointing to a P45.
Who could Arsenal get? Surely they’ll have to make a bit of a splash if they are to tempt Auba to stay. if he goes, you would fear for Arsenal. I dont think they’ll get relegated or anything but it’s high time to get your choices right, or the consequences could be dire.

13th December 2020 at 11:11 pm #172044AnonymousFavre is credited with being good at developing youth players.
“Favre’s teams play a dynamic, quick and attacking-minded football where ball possession and change of tempo alternate. This attractive style of play has brought results in every club he has managed. Furthermore, Favre is very skillful tactically, leaving his opponents struggling to penetrate his well-organized sides. His teams tend to shoot less than others but have a high conversion rate,”
This guy is made for Arsenal! 😀

14th December 2020 at 8:38 am #172045Arsenal are a very conservative Club and they don’t make knee jerk decisions. I suspect they will give Arteta at least until the end of the season to try and get things back on track.

14th December 2020 at 8:59 am #172047In reality, I don’t think a club the size of Arsenal would have a moment’s hesitation to get rid of him if they don’t rapidly pick up form soon. If the current form was to continue, the threat of relegation would be real and that’s a risk Arsenal can’t afford.

14th December 2020 at 9:56 am #172048I think who would replace Arteta would depend on who is available at the time, assuming he doesn’t turn things around.
Hasenhuttl? Rodgers? Arsenal is still a step up for those guys.
Don’t think any of the highly rated CL team managers would move until the end of the season, like Nagelsmann or Gasperini.
And Dortmund are looking for a manager and I think it’s fair to say they at the moment they would be the more attractive proposition.
I could see Tuchel getting fired from PSG once they go out the CL and he might be an option for Arsenal (doubt he would go back to BvB), but that might be too long a time to wait. Maybe they fire Arteta and stick someone in charge as a caretaker till someone they want becomes successful. The problem is if the caretaker does well with the new manager feel good bounce and gets the job full time even though they are not the right person.

14th December 2020 at 10:52 am #172051Tbh I’m not sure Dortmund are a more attractive proposition than Arsenal. Sure, you’re almost guaranteed CL football at Dortmund but London is a huge pull and Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in easily the biggest league in the world where there is an opportunity to test yourself on the biggest stage against the best managers in the game.
At Dortmund, your job is pretty much to develop players who can be sold on for a profit.
