6th December 2020 at 8:55 pm #171681AnonymousIts incredible to think that with our injuries, we’re walking this match… Trent is back now after this too, thiago will be a while yet but I cant wait.
Have to say, highlight of the night for me is Gini scoring a goal. I think he’s the most under-appreciated member of the team.

6th December 2020 at 8:57 pm #171684AnonymousMatip ,is an incredible player. the only reason he isnt considered to be world class is because he cant stay fit.

6th December 2020 at 8:58 pm #171686AnonymousI had lost faith in Matip until the time Gomez got injured for our CL run up to th eloss against real. he was brilliant then for a long spell. He’s come back and honestly been maybe our best player this season.

6th December 2020 at 9:28 pm #171695AnonymousIncredible performance and result. Sheffield are suffering from no Henderson but who cares about them TBH. Liverpool have been in bits and we’re fighting for every point.
just delighted for Kelleher, cleansheet! He wont sleep tonight. I bet his family are cheering as I type this.

7th December 2020 at 12:05 pm #171707AnonymousWow nobody has posted on the site yet today.
Usually early birds. Is it because of the lack of VAR controversies in moat matches, we have nothing to talk about?

7th December 2020 at 12:15 pm #171708Good win for Liverpool as expected. Matip and Fabinho are a quality pairing and Liverpool overwhelm teams with their attacking strengths so the loss of Van Dijk and Gomez is somewhat nullified.
Very tight at the top of the PL with only 6 points separating Spurs at the top of the table and City in 6th place and they have a game in hand.
Hope it’s like this right up to the end of the season it makes it much more exciting.
I think Chelsea’s time is coming but I’m not sure it will be this season.

7th December 2020 at 12:40 pm #171709AnonymousA great win but the “as expected” part, not for me anyway. I was absolutely hopping last night because I was worried we might lose, genuinely. You’re right though, that pairing is great. Fabinho is not just decent cover, he’s a high level CB and Matip is quality. If he could stay fit Gomez would never get his place back. I say this on the back of Gomez’s drop in form, before the injury.
I’m right there with you with regards to it looking like a good season. Look, if you offered us the chance to have won every single match and be way ahead, we’d take it of course but that isn’t the same as having an enjoyable, multi-team title race and the PL is in need of a BIG 4/BIG 6 scenario.
Chelsea are definitely on the up, I only hope of course that Liverpool can win back to back titles to cement Klopp’s legacy but even if he misses out, i think it would take some incredible mental gymnastics for anyone to convince themselves that he hasn’t been a success.
If we don’t win it, I would hope Chelsea do but is there any surprise there? I mean Jose, or City again? Pep is deceptively close too alright, with that game in hand and they are starting to put teams away now again. I’m already fretting about how the hell Im going to put KDB into my team, so that in itself says something.
Going back to the injury situation, we’re doing well without Van Dijk so far but this can often be a false dawn. there were times years ago when gerrard would get injured and people would say “we have more points without than we do with him” and although in small samples that may have been correct at times, it still didnt mean that we actually were. Teams can raise their game for a burst but then reality sets back eventually and they miss the player then. Of course this scenario is not directly comparable though because we have high quality cover, as long as they themselves can stay fit. Back in Gerrard’s day (depending on the year), we might not have.
I didnt get to see much of the Chelsea match but glad to see Pulisic scored. I’d also like him in my FPL team and although he’s more realistic than KDB (without moving Salah), I’d have to get rid of Grealish and move some other things around… its impossible to let go of Grealish this season. I had Pulisic in my first team this season, had to after he systematically dismantled our defence. If he can just stay fit he’s going to blow the PL away.

7th December 2020 at 1:07 pm #171710Great performance yesterday…can’t fault any of them, but special mention to Kelleher, the 2 centre backs and Hendo and Gini who completely bossed the midfield. And of course our Duracell bunny, Andy Robertson, whose fitness levels are incredible. Β£8m? Unbelievable bargain.
I think the season is shaping up to be a thriller. A case could be made for any of Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs or City to win it. I still feel that without VVD and Gomez, we will get found out. If Matip does stay fit, it may be different, but he never has before. My top 4 prediction is Chelsea, City, Liverpool and Spurs in that order. I know 9 will disagree, but I really think Chelsea could do it this year. They are a young side with very few obvious weaknesses, and attacking talent all over. If they can all stay fit, they’ll be a rael threat.

7th December 2020 at 1:16 pm #171711AnonymousThat’s it HH, we cant rely on Matip but unlike Keita, he’s brilliant when he is available. Robbo was excellent last night, I was thinking him for MOTM but it’s tough to pick just 1 out of that performance. As for who will win the league, I have been positive and I’ve been negative. it’s hard to not swing up and down with the Villa match, then the injuries then Leicester and now this.

Hightown I think it might be coming for Chelsea but I’m not sure whether this season might be a bit too early.
Be delighted to be proved wrong though and I really hope you’re right and I’m wrong.π
