I knew he would give a pen the minute I saw it.
I ageee with HT and nine. Totally againest var now as it’s ruining my enjoyment of the game. The euphoria of celebrating then finding out a goal is disallowed etc is a load of Bollix.
Every decision is analAysed. I thought var was being brought in for the decisions that were to hard to call etc, not everything else. It’s not working. It’s ruining the game
But Liverpool fans shoujd be looming at why we were so poor today. Very poor going forward and all over the shop at times at the back. We got what we deserved today .
We need players back bigtine

I think you have to take the feeling aggrieved out of it. Sure it’s been bad for us this season, but the point is that VAR is bad for the whole game, not just Liverpool

28th November 2020 at 6:00 pm #171061Sean, we upped our game as time went on. It’s understandable we had our moments, but Brighton themselves weren’t great.
Liverpool were better once Hendo came on, but we also had 2 goals chalked off and if you’re still able to find the net and take all 3 points without particularly playing good, that’s a sign of Champions.
I accepted all 3 decisions out of the 4 given against us bar the last one where Robertson was first to the Ball but caught Wellbeck who happened to have stretched and didn’t stand a chance anyway in winning it.
I completely agree with you mate. I celebrated Mane’s goal and it was chalked off. VAR has costed us points and we could have been sat tonight with a 3 point lead.
I’m sure we’ll improve straightaway and won’t dwell on this disappointment for too long.

28th November 2020 at 6:03 pm #171063HT I’m not aggrieved today as the decisions by the law if the game were correct. I don’t like var because it’s ruining my enjoyment of the game chum. It’s ruining it for ever club. It’s shite. It really is

28th November 2020 at 6:27 pm #171065Pagan, I think the referees could still use their discretion to judge whether contact has been enough or not. Just because they see contact in slow-mo, doesn’t mean they have to assume 100% guilt – they could say it wasn’t enough to warrant a penalty or foul or argue it was a coming together. They can bring context and perspective to the table. Presumably, the pitch side monitor was brought in as a safety valve to stop every little nick of contact resulting in a penalty. They should use it. The idea behind technology is that *you* use *technology*. What we have at the moment is that the *technology* is using *us*, with the referees avoiding making any judgement whatsoever and just letting every bit of contact or whatever result in a penalty with no context – in short they have taken the human being out of the equation and completely absolved responsibility. I don’t see why they can’t let the human being be part of the equation again. The pitch side review allows for that.

28th November 2020 at 8:22 pm #171073AnonymousNine, I know you dont want to be talking about VAR all the time and I totally understand and would leave it if it didnt constantly undermine the integrity of the sport. It’s not just Liverpool results that we’re railing against. Thats when you know it’s truly messed up. As for today, that BS ended my football watching for the day. I may have missed a good game with City winning 5-0 but there’s no way I was going to enjoy it.
That’s very whiny now, apologies, I’m really just fed up with it now. The Everton game was worse now of course, with the injuries and even though we didn’t put a performance in to thoroughly deserve anything, I just feel robbed.
To answer the question though, no VAR has not made a damn thing better and as I sat here reading your comments, I for the first time wondered if I was just against VAR entirely now. I nearly said yes to myself but if it werent run by a bunch of morons, it might work. It is however ruining the experience and I am very close to just being against it.
I do want to say one thing about the offsides. If they are so close that they have to go drawing lines then they should just award it, as attacker advantage. That for me would genuinely be good for the sport. It would be faster but also it puts defences on their toes. That would be one single step in the right direction.

28th November 2020 at 8:32 pm #171075Well, that’s the interesting question then – are the referees, when going to review an incident, effectively being intimidated to follow what the VAR referees have thought? They need to stand up for themselves if so. And even if the authorities threaten suspension for not following orders, I don’t think they have the luxury of having enough refs to take their places. So I still the senior refs can help turn the tide of all this. In any case, they’d have the support of most of the fans and the players.

28th November 2020 at 8:35 pm #171076AnonymousWhat has happened to Everton? Things were looking so good for them and now they cant win a game to save their lives. I think its time to get them out of my FPL team.

28th November 2020 at 8:53 pm #171077Why don’t non Liverpool supporters express an honest thought in saying Henderson’s goal against Everton was robbed? I don’t want a break down of the incident and the rules of the game copied and pasted, I just want others to understand what’s now becoming daylight robbery and as Mak rightly points out, undermining the Integrity of our game.

28th November 2020 at 8:55 pm #171078Offsides should be in favour of the attacker in my view reverting back to the Rule Revised back in 1994 at the time of the Fifa World Cup, USA.

28th November 2020 at 9:17 pm #171082Nil, I think you mean if there’s any doubt then the advantage should be given to the attacker. VAR if you believe in it’s accuracy is removing that doubt…..Pagan
