It was a penalty as the new rules and silly checks we have now. Saw the maradona goal against England where he runs through the team and rides challenges … the tackle that set him up was an assault on hoddle that didnβt get a whistle a yellow or any reaction even from England players…thatβs when football was true … all a shame and as you can see from klopp interview gonna be a big problem with tv broadcasters …
and they are essentially the reason behind all the tech … the game will never be as it was
Enjoy the memories and get used to the new norm_____________________________

28th November 2020 at 4:09 pm #171038We realise that having fans in a ground creates an atmosphere, this atmosphere can influence a ref and can motivate a team, so is it really fair that only certain clubs will have fans in…..Pagan

28th November 2020 at 4:11 pm #171039Mak-I cant stand it m8,it has completely ruined it for me,I mean,a pen not given to Chelsea for Arry strangling Azpi? Then given a pen against WBA that was not e pen, then not giving one to WBA against us.Then the one away to Brighton-after the game is finished. This is happening because of 2 things:
1]Complete madness OR
2]Match fixing.
Either way,its fooked up beyond all recognition._____________________________

28th November 2020 at 4:30 pm #171040Jordan Henderson (MOTD) Would you rather scrap VAR? "I don't want to speak for anybody else but in my opinion I would. I just want to play football as normal. I saw Kevin de Bruyne saying in an interview they have changed so many rules we don't know what they are anymore." #LFC pic.twitter.com/bKBbjVVY95

28th November 2020 at 4:42 pm #171041Some fabulous football and goals by City. That’s what football is all about. No point in agonising over VAR every week we’ve got it it’s not going to change this season it will be reviewed in the Summer and perhaps one or two areas might be tweaked?

28th November 2020 at 4:58 pm #171043VAR is a system approved by the sportβs governing bodies, however its use has not been mandated, the Premier League has opted to use it, it also still has the option to not use it, obviously they have to use it for the rest of the season, but they could scrap it for next……Pagan

28th November 2020 at 4:58 pm #171044Pagan…it wasn’t just you and Chucky. I was, have been, and very much still am very much against VAR. I’ve been very vocal against since well before it was implemented. It just takes all the spontaneity out of the game, you can’t celebrate a goal…it’s fucking pathetic. Surely no-one wants matches decided by millimetres. Clear and obvious, daylight…fine, but the current refereeing and implementation means the whole thing isd farcical. If Salah’s goal had been given in the days before VAR, few if any Brighton fans would have said it was offside, and for me that says it all.

28th November 2020 at 5:00 pm #1710459 – until VAR is sorted, we will all still be agonising over it. What’s the alternative? Just accept something that is ruining the game?

28th November 2020 at 5:07 pm #171047I would much prefer refs to be making occasional wrong decisions on the field, and we just live with it. It happens throughout football from kids footy up to the Championship, and football is still a great game. Has VAR improved? Can anyone honestly, hand on heart, say the game is better because of it? I very much doubt it. For me, it is infinitely worse.

28th November 2020 at 5:11 pm #171050I sort of get it from both corners re Nine and Hightown. I found myself in the past allowing this to get to the point of it consuming me just ruins my day; as with the workload we’ve had this Black Friday.
I am aggrieved though, because with us, it’s become a frequent occurrence this season which has led to points being dropped.

28th November 2020 at 5:17 pm #171051I still think there is scope for the on field referees to bring about a sea change with this. They just need to be braver and maintain their own prerogative on the pitch even if someone is shouting in their ear. It will only take a brave few for others to start following.

28th November 2020 at 5:18 pm #171052Hightown, your choice mate but you’re hitting your head against a brick wall and all you’ll get is a headache nothing will change this season in respect of VAR some aspects may be reviewed in the Summer and there may be some tweaks then.
It’s a bit like Remainers still arguing against Brexit it’s happening, and I voted to stay in by the way.π

28th November 2020 at 5:21 pm #171053Mikus, if Referees don’t follow the PGMOL rules they are deselected there’s not a chance of Referees doing their own thing.

28th November 2020 at 5:22 pm #171054Mikus, itβs not that easy, refs have to apply the laws of the game, without VAR they make their decisions on what they saw (or didnβt), with VAR they either have to take the off field decision or review it themselves, if the off field decision or the pictures clearly show something different then they have to go by it…..Pagan

28th November 2020 at 5:26 pm #171055Pagan, yes but I think there is still scope within that pitch monitor review to make their own judgement – they still have that privilege, they should use it.

28th November 2020 at 5:43 pm #171058They have the chance to review their decisions, but they have to apply the laws of the game to what they see. Iβve yet to see a review when the laws havenβt been adhered to, and there lies the problem, the laws were written for a referee to implement as the game is being played, not for VAR to analyse from multiple angles over 2 to 4 minutes whilst the game is paused…..Pagan
