Amazingly a couple of years ago Grealish was available for £20m Spurs wanted to buy him but Levy tried to drive the price down then new owners came in and took Grealish off the transfer market. Now Grealish is worth circa £80m.

1st December 2020 at 11:37 am #171315AnonymousThey’ve made note of where they are drawing the line from and look (@1:20), it’s nearly his elbow. How many times have we seen them draw the lines from the wrong places now? This is at least the 2nd line from an unplayable part of the body that I can remember.
Carra has a point too, the player is “offside” only because he’s being fouled. I’ve really really really had it with their absolutely terrible attempt at bringing in VAR. I’ve just had it with them.

1st December 2020 at 11:39 am #171316AnonymousNine, I’d say 80m is pretty conservative now too. I doubt anyone would get Grealish for less than 120m and by the time summer actually comes, if he continues the way he’s going you could be talking upwards of 150m.

1st December 2020 at 11:43 am #171317That’s the problem though. He may well be worth that much to Villa but nobody is paying upwards of £100mil for him. That’s why I say Villa may have to go down for him to get that big move. Either that or he kicks up a fuss about wanting to go and that is very unlikely considering his history with the club.
Villa could easily be dragged back into a dogfight, though, so will be interesting to see what happens in the summer.

1st December 2020 at 11:58 am #171318Who’s got the money to pay that at the moment, hopefully the current situation will drive prices down….Pagan

1st December 2020 at 12:05 pm #171319AnonymousI am talking about what I think a club might actually pay for him though (depending on fallout from covid issues). Of course it only matters if the really rich ones are interested enough. The likes of City or Utd could, would and I will even say should pay whatever it takes to get someone of his quality into their team. If he plays an absolute blinder of a season (which it really looks like he’s about to), on top of showing a some serious grit, determination (he’s a “mature” lad now etc) as well as being a homegrown England international break-through season player.. Just my opinion that he’s going to move for A LOT.
If they aren’t interested and for instance Liverpool or Chelsea were, sure maybe it might be less as we simply couldn’t afford to go beyond a certain point and whatever bidding war that might be going on would fizzle out at a lower altitude.
There is of course the likes of Real and Barca. If they had a clue, they’d be interested.

1st December 2020 at 12:07 pm #171320AnonymousI think City or Utd have got the money, Pagan. As for who else might depend on when we get fans back, that would stabalize the financial futures of clubs, who spent a lot more last summer, in general than I expected.

1st December 2020 at 12:15 pm #171321Mak, Man United were posting a loss and blaming it on the current situation. I don’t see how any team should try and justify making a huge loss, blame it on COVID-19, and then pay out huge amounts on transfers….Pagan

1st December 2020 at 12:18 pm #171322Mak, Utd refused to go to that kind of level for Sancho, who plays in a position we desperately need strengthening. Grealish would arguably be a luxury signing for either City or Utd.
Is he likely to dislodge Bruno or KdB through the middle? Not for me. If he doesn’t play through the middle, then he’s best out on the left. City have Sterling and Torres. Utd have Rashford & Martial who are both best suited to the left attacker role. Whilst you could argue Grealish could dislodge both of those, Utd have about 8 or 9 positions which need replacing more urgently than left wing/forward.

1st December 2020 at 12:18 pm #171323Think I must be the only one that thinks Grealish isn’t really that amazing. He has skill no doubt but you really have to build a team around him and accept he does next to nothing defensively and will leave huge holes as he wanders about doing his own thing. Also needs to cut out the play acting.
Nine mentioned a while ago he would fit Klopp’s midfield well but I couldn’t disagree any more, he is a million miles away from a Klopp midfielder. He runs about but not the way Hendo or Gini do. So what about the front three? He wouldn’t displace any of them.
For Utd the only place he could play is left side of a 3 in a 4231 formation but I think he and Fernandes would end up tripping over each other. You couldn’t put him as one of the 2 that would be suicide and Fernandes and maybe the enigma that is Paul Pogba are already there to play the attacking midfield role.
Chelsea? Think they have enough tricky skillful players already. Spurs? Cannot see him as a Jose player although with them already having a fairly solid base maybe they could accommodate another flair player. Think Arsenal have more pressing problems to consider a huge transfer.

1st December 2020 at 12:24 pm #171324Agree with that Threeps. Have no doubt he’d improve Utd as well as most of the clubs in the league but he’s not going to totally transform any of the top sides, which you’d want if you’re paying that sort of money. Hence why Utd backed off in the summer I’d imagine.
I do think he’s better than you give him credit for, though. So graceful on the ball and just glides past players. Agree about the play acting though. He needs to cut that out.

1st December 2020 at 12:36 pm #171325I agree Ed he is super silky on the ball. But there is more to that in football especially the way some teams expect all their players to do the hard graft (Liverpool, City) along with the fancy stuff. If there’s a top team out there that can accommodate him, as in maybe have 2 strong disciplined central midfielders and say to him go on do your thing they have it covered then he could go on to be a great player. Or as a left sided attacker but I think he would be wasted a little out there.

1st December 2020 at 1:51 pm #171326Agree with the Ed in the current circumstances I can’t see any of the top PL Clubs who might be interested in Grealish as a player if he became available paying £100m plus for him as the Ed said United refused to pay around that figure for Sancho and City’s record transfer fee is £64m.
As for the two top Spanish Clubs they are both struggling with enormous financial constraints which is why they were both so retained in the Summer window.

1st December 2020 at 3:46 pm #171328Bayern Munich or PSG?I dont know, but he is a classy player and surely only to get better.United urgent needs dont include a Grealish or Sancho, but a DM,an midfeild enforcer/destroyer in the ilk of Kante,Partey,Zakaria,Verratti, etc, and CD/s.On o of that,a striker as well.

1st December 2020 at 3:59 pm #171331I don’t see why Chelsea or Lampard are prepared to pay 80m for Declan Rice when you have a player of Grealish’s ability. We all know who would be a greater value to the team, it’s really pretty obvious.

1st December 2020 at 4:16 pm #171332Blaze you can only say that if chelsea actually bid 80m for rice, which we haven’t and likely never would.
Besides completely different players and never to be compared really
