2nd November 2024 at 5:06 pm #216325Best win of the season for us as we were so bad in the 1st half.
Some goal by mo. Gravenberch excellent 2nd half
Such a tough game. Great win

2nd November 2024 at 5:16 pm #216326Never doubted us today. I thought from the outset of the season we had a chance this season. Slot has inherited & kept the qualities of the Klopp side but made us more refined and less chaotic. Still be good to see a few additions in January.

2nd November 2024 at 5:16 pm #216327I think City will drop more points.

2nd November 2024 at 5:34 pm #216328Impressive comeback by Liverpool. The quality at the top of the league doesn’t seem as good as usual this season. It feels like the top sides are just getting through games rather than blowing teams away like in recent seasons. You’d still expect City to go on one of their runs soon and pull away.

2nd November 2024 at 5:51 pm #216329I think the league has become more competitive. But I’d argue it has been for a while. City haven’t been hitting the heights of their 100 point & 99 point winning seasons for several years now.

2nd November 2024 at 5:54 pm #216330Ed, I think it’s more of a Testament to the Forest and the Villas in how this League has shaped. I’m absolutely flattered we are where we are. We’re sort of hanging by the thread with certain players come to the end of their careers.
Klopp brought in Gravenberch, Mac Allister and Endo who really have excelled to becoming good players, but Slot really hasn’t tasted any new transactions since.
I also think and would question teams being able to perform best versions Tuesday /Wednesday into Saturday/Sunday even though there is squad rotation.
Only 10 games in, but things honestly can change within a couple of bad results – count our lucky stars we are where we are 🙂

2nd November 2024 at 9:31 pm #216331I think rodri is such a huge loss to city. Their most influential player but with kdb back now, i agree with ed. They will go on a run. First loss in 32 games is just maddness
Aresnal have had such a tough start and getting a lot of tough away games out of the way but they are to pragmatic. They are conceding goals now and defensively look a bit frail which was always their strong point.

2nd November 2024 at 9:40 pm #216332Ed, interesting view. Is it the top teams are weaker or the rest of the league getting better?
Villa, Newcastle, spurs , brighton and even likes of Brentford, forest, fulham , Bournemouth can all give anyone a game.
Points tallies by city, liverpool and even arsenal lsst year were ridiculous. Mad points to win a league so now are we going to see normal points tallies and actually being able to draw and lose a few games and still win the league?

3rd November 2024 at 8:35 am #216333I think it’s both tbh (the teams around getting stronger and the top teams having less quality). I don’t think the City and Arsenal teams are as good as 1/2/3 seasons ago. I don’t think this is a great Liverpool team either if I’m honest. Not compared to the free flowing team with Mane, Firmino, Salah etc. Slot has to take credit for racking up the points so far regardless. City of 2-3 seasons ago don’t lose in the cup then lose to Bournemouth the following match.

3rd November 2024 at 8:48 am #216334As you suggest Sean, City’s points tallies have probably skewed our expectations of what is considered normal for this time of the year. I’m not specifically talking points tallies. More just the quality of the top teams compared to the rest of the league. I don’t necessarily think the teams just below the top teams are better than they were the last few seasons either. Maybe it’s just me.

3rd November 2024 at 9:10 am #216335I reckon there’s four tiers in the Prem, you’ve got those who are challenging for the title, those that are challenging for Europe, those making up the numbers and those battling relegation…
What we have now is quite a large group of “Tier 2” clubs battling for Europe now and they’re all taking points from each other (which makes Teir 1 look better than the really are)… and Teir 3 clubs are all capable of the occassional upset of Teir 1 & 2…
Which leaves us in the situation in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king… I don’t think Pool and the 115 are “that” far in front… better, yes, but everybody else taking points from each other makes the look better than they really are.

3rd November 2024 at 9:27 am #216336Fair points lads. I really think city look more vulnerable without rodri
They lost two games in a row last dec then didnt lose in the league until yday. Thats 32 games , thats crazy stuff
I agree about this season though ed. Aresnal dont look near as strong and are conceding goals.
Liverpool are just doing enough to win games but one thing thats really improved under slot is our game management . We seenarrow games out well
Im still expecting us to have a really bad patch. Hes new to the league and he needs time. All about top 4 for us

3rd November 2024 at 9:55 am #216337That’s it Sean. City and Arsenal have conceded the same number of goals as us. That’s mental as we’ve been terrible at the back.

3rd November 2024 at 2:03 pm #216339Too early to read too much into results and standings. The plus for Liverpool is that a few of their harder matches are out of the way such as Man U-Arsenal Away and Chelsea home. Our toughest tests will be City and Chelsea away.
It’s down to quality squad depth and injuries which certain teams are feeling at the moment.
Not to get carried away because the moment their is adversity, the knives are out.
