Salah was stepping close to 5th gear there as the game went on. First game and he was nearly in perfect form, amazing.
As for the crowds, surely the crowds all must show that they are vaccinated? I have no idea how they are doing it but I just assumed. It’s a huge mistake if they are letting vaccinated into matches like this. Otherwise, I think it’s totally fine. They wont bring the virus in and they wont carry it home, generally anyway.

15th August 2021 at 9:09 am #182750I also heard that the Leeds fans it was I assume singing gleefully about the Munich disaster. Why do they do that I mean it’s not going to effect the players, they probably don’t even care.

15th August 2021 at 11:21 am #182753This why fans should not be involved in Football management or decision making. It is no good saying the old cliche. “its only a minority”. we have too many minorities running this country let alone football clubs

15th August 2021 at 11:26 am #182754I remember the Munich disaster well, all of Manchester just froze, City and Utd fans mourned together, I lost my idol Frank Swift as well. The idiots of to day not even born and perhaps the their parents as well at that time yet they feel a need for hate like this.

15th August 2021 at 11:27 am #182755The press are at it as usual…
Nuno Espirito Santo has left Pep Guardiola and Manchester City frustrated in the pastSon Heung-min and Harry Kane can hand Pep Guardiola unwanted record at Tottenham
Man City’s stars can’t sulk if they are left out, says Fernandinho
Journalist says ยฃ43m player would join Tottenham; deal hinges on key conditions being
met(Bernardo Silva)Soccer-Guardiola defends Man City’s big spending in transfer market
Almost every story in todays press about City has a negative stance and we havent kicked a ball yet plus we will be missing key players – hardly a mention. Also no comment anywhere about the huge fee for Lukaku? ยฃ2.5m less than Grealish. Yet again Klopp is spouting rubbish about how incredible it is that we buy Grealish… forgetting the ยฃ60m of sales plus ยฃ40m due from the transfer of Sane, not yet accounted for. I do get pissed off with the nonsense press.

15th August 2021 at 12:24 pm #182758The world isn’t against City Adlab. They get tons of good press. Guardiola is very much the media darling at the moment.
The only reason City’s spending is being highlighted is because City are due to break the PL transfer record for the second time in a matter of weeks so soon after having playing the ridiculous “we can’t afford anyone” card. He deserves everything he gets for that hypocrisy.

15th August 2021 at 1:05 pm #182759This why fans should not be involved in Football management or decision making. It is no good saying the old cliche. โits only a minorityโ. we have too many minorities running this country let alone football clubs
I’m not sure I understand the point you’re making Brian. Of course these are minorities. If you get thousands and thousands of people together in one place every week, you’re always going to get a small section of idiots.
I think it’s vital that it’s highlighted that these type of incidents often involve a tiny fraction of the fans. The alternative is to condemn a whole fan base, often millions and millions around the world based on the actions of a few drunken idiots.
Should all Liverpool fans be criticised because of a few idiots singing homophobic songs? Should Chelsea fans all be deemed racist because of that incident with the French guy on the train? Should all Utd fans be labelled hooligans because of the idiots who stormed the stadium last season? Are all City fans racist because of the idiot who did monkey chants at Fred a year or so ago? Of course not.
I think highlighting these incidents as only involving a small minority of fans is essential. That’s exactly what they are.

15th August 2021 at 1:10 pm #182760Adlab, the price for sitting on the top of the Christmas tree buddie.๐
You’re wrong about Lukaku though I’ve read and heard plenty about his price, the price v his age and him being the most expensive player of all time.
As for Klopp’s claim in respect of Chelsea he’s talking out of his Arsenal Chelsea have taken almost ยฃ50m from the sales of three Academy players and are seemingly going to take another ยฃ34m from the sale of Abraham to Roma another Academy player and it looks like Chalobah might save Chelsea spending on Kounde too and if that happens and with one or two other fringe players about to move on too Chelsea’s net spend is going to be zero or next to zero.

15th August 2021 at 1:18 pm #182761Adlab, exactly why?
That chant has followed Chelsea for years it started against Graeme le Saux ironically from Liverpool fans too.
But I agree with the Ed we all have our idiots they are just a small minority and in fairness credit to Liverpool FC who have apologised for their fans behaviour.

15th August 2021 at 2:26 pm #182764There may just be a minority that gets physically violent, but a lot of fans do hurl more general obscenities at opposition players and thatโs just deemed part of the culture. But itโs not really a surprise the more thuggish elements then take such obscenities further either racially or with physical violence. I think all abuse is bad and thatโs ultimately the root cause of the more extreme obscenities. So the problem is a lot deeper for me.

15th August 2021 at 2:30 pm #182765AnonymousAdlab, still going on about how the world is against City eh. “oh no, we’re only able to spend 100m on a player then immediately 150m on another player, why are we getting all this attention?”
The thing is, you’d swear it was really negative attention too. You’re talking about some very light remarks. I’d hate to see what would happen to you if there was any real criticism out there for City. Relax guy.
As for Klopp’s comments, I’m not sure he would be following where Chelsea are getting their money each time. The club is owned by someone who in the past has pumped an incredible amount of money into the club and they’ve gone through the covid situation, somehow able to sell players for good sums, with that money not needed anywhere else, but being put forward immediately towards a massive transfer. My guess is that he wasn’t able to make the signing he wanted this summer.
Lyon seem to know that we’re desperate for cash, so they’re low-balling us really bad on Shaqiri. This is a player who just starred in the Euros and they won’t go above 6m for him and we’re only asking for 12. Ya, he’s injury prone but he’s a cracking player when he’s fit. He’s well worth 12m…. So, I think Klopp is just frustrated. He says he’s happy with the players he has but I think yesterday’s teamsheet kinda shows us up, in that we were missing a few players in our shallowest area (midfield) and it REALLY showed. If we were playing against a top team, we’d have lost that match.
Fabinho came on and things changed but Fabinho gets injured, so does Henderson, so does Thiago… Oh that’s our entire first choice selection. Who do we have to cover for them? The perennially injured Keita?.. 2 kids (Jones and Elliott), or and some Ox, who I get depressed whenever I see him on the teamsheet.
So ya, I am kinda frustrated along with Klopp but, less so now after seeing Elliott in pre-season. He is only 18 though.
As for Gillmour, I’m assuming that he is or there are at least rumours that he’s gay. Maybe Klopp heard these rumours and that was why he came out with such high praise for him just recently.
I do wish these moronic fans who chant about this or tragedies would just shut up and stop marring the reputation of the sport.

15th August 2021 at 2:46 pm #182768Mak, Klopp would be better off not commenting on the transfer business of other Clubs it’s none of his business and not a good look and he should focus on his own transfer business. If anyone is breaking any rules re spending then it’s up to the authorities to deal with it.
I have no idea whether Gilmour is gay or not but it’s entirely up to him if he is and if he is he shouldn’t be the subject of homophobic chants anyway but that chant has been aimed at Chelsea fans and Chelsea players for years.
Kick It Out, the anti-discrimination campaign group, have previously condemned the chant, writing in 2019: โThe โrent boyโ chants have been directed at Chelsea for years, with little action taken by The FA or Police โ and that must not continue. We are absolutely clear: the chant is homophobic and must be treated as such.โ
Your last paragraph was on point.

15th August 2021 at 4:05 pm #182774Ed.. you are missing the point…with respect.. The minorities are getting more and more and as you say every club has them. You cannot keep saying “just a few” when it can be seen, it is not just a few but a growing number. I am still of the opinion that most “sensible`’ fans will leave the club to the club . There would be nothing to stop these minorities entering shareholding agreements if they ever become available, which I doubt for the bigger UK clubs. The minorities exist because the authorities do nothing to stop them, Police, Club or even transportation and our useless Courts/legal procedures It is a wider issue than football of course but since the hot spots are associated with football that is where it starts and that is where the matter needs addressing with some firm action.

15th August 2021 at 4:14 pm #182775Ed,,as a PS. once the “minority idiots” was just a club/tribal issue and that was daft enough but now it is laced with Racist, homophobic, anti semitism, and anything else they can add…it needs to be stopped in its tracks. This is no longer a football crowd I was brought up with and if it is a case of moving with the times, as they say, I despair at the lack of logic in the whole thing

15th August 2021 at 4:27 pm #182777Generally agree with most points about chanting etc. Its like the horrid social media where people hide behind anonimity to make disgusting comments. The same applies to a large crowd. Which one of the few hundred idiots chanting filth will be prosecuted? None.
In about 10 mins I will have an opportunity to check heart rate and bp for the first time of stress since my operation๐
Despite all the press comment Kane not in the Spurs squad. Hmmm?
If we did get him how many bets on the headline “Citizen Kane” Still dont think we will as Spurs will leave it too late._____________________________
