As for the “well he sat next to Pep so he must have learnt from him” type of comments, how many highly rated assistants of top,top managers have tried to be a number 1 and fallen flat on their face? So many of Ferguson’s number 2s were supposedly destined for greatness but were rubbish managers. McClaren, Queroz, Phelan, Meulensteen. Paul Clement was massively rated as a number 2 and got a big job but failed.

Ed, not denying Arteta was a risk as was Frank albeit he was the right decision at the time,
Arteta doesn’t currently look like it will work out but all Managers are ex players from somewhere some ex players promoted to Manager like Dalglish and to a lesser extent Vialli work out but most don’t.
If Arsenal continue to struggle Arteta will be gone any Manager who continues to struggle will ultimately be gone no matter who they are and whether they played for their Clubs previously or not.
I think Arteta has probably got until Christmas.

No I agree Nine. He’ll be gone very soon unless he starts to show some kind of improvement.
I’m not for a minute saying it’ll definitely not work out. The people who appointed him may get extremely lucky and see the gamble pay off. I just think where Arsenal were as a club they took a completely unnecessary risk which looks like it will be costly for them in the long term.

Pogba looked to be getting into football, last season. Im not totally shocked to see him giving it a go this time. Just goes to show the absolute piss the lad was taking for YEARS.
As I said in the other thread by mistake, this is now starting to be a humiliation for Leeds. Not going to take too much away from Utd but this is ma kinda pathetic effort from Leeds (since I’ve turned it on anyway).

Good win for Utd. I think they will be there or thereabouts this season. The only issue is whether they have the depth after a few key injuries..who knows.?
Does anybody know why yet again we have moved away from the traditional opening fixtures. It was always first match previous years champions at home followed by midweek away and following weekend away. Or is it just a fix of the fixture list for TV?
