Here he is refusing to praise Pogba
🗣 Souness: "For me, the star of the show was Greenwood."
🗣 Micah: "Pogba's had four assists."
🗣 Souness: “We expect that from a 100 million pound man."

17th August 2021 at 11:35 am #182903Souness’s ‘style’ many of time is fueled by some kind of anger. Maybe some of that is down to his own ideology of a player. To be fair to Pogba, his attitude really was first class. Maybe the ‘customized’ hairstyles is winding up Souness lol, i don’t know.
Media over-hype and excitement doesn’t exactly help as that just fuels the opposition or the detractors to come out.
Sometimes, the criticism is a little bit extensive and deep.

17th August 2021 at 12:42 pm #182905Tammy Abraham completes his £34m move to Roma. Can only wish him the very best I hope he develops under Jose and he’s treated well. Potentially it’s a great move for him.

17th August 2021 at 12:52 pm #182907Brewster going for almost £25mil last season and now Tammy Abraham for £34mil. Crazy money. Utd need to pull their finger out with selling players. Always been our achilles heel. Good luck to the lad. Smart of Chelsea to include a buyback but I doubt they’ll ever exercise it.

17th August 2021 at 12:56 pm #182908Emerson Palmeri looks like he might be the next to go and bring a bit more money in with Lyon interested in buying him?

17th August 2021 at 1:18 pm #182909We needed one of emerson or alonso to go nine and I’m happy inter refused alonso in swap for lukaku as if we are to persist with wing backs alonso is by far the better option and to be honest I have a lot of affection for alonso. He has won a lot with us know, he gets stick but let’s face it his bad performances have predominantly been in a back 4. He is a fantastic offensive weapon in our current set up.

17th August 2021 at 1:19 pm #182910Ed, sourness obviously has an agenda against pogba mate based on what you have posted. You have to give credit where it is due, that is punditry module 101 right? Pretty poor really

17th August 2021 at 1:37 pm #182911“Despite their best efforts to shift players, City have been given no fresh hope on five players they would be willing to sell to Spurs, wanting to leave.
A report by ESPN claims that Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Aymeric Laporte have still not given any indication as to their willingness to move to Tottenham.
This news alone means it will be hard for the Manchester club to find the funds for Kane – unless separate sales are found before the window closes.
The sources claim that Silva would be open to leaving, but would rather move to La Liga to be closer to his Portuguese roots.” Express 17/08
Even if Spurs agree to sell Kane to make it happen it will almost certainly require players to agree to go the other way which they may be reluctant to do and without City can sell them elsewhere and time is running out to do that it’s difficult to see Kane to City happening currently and whilst there were limited striker options for City to pursue given the loss of Aguero it’s surprising they didn’t have a plan b which could come back to haunt them this season without the false nine works for them as well this season as it did last which could be questionable.

17th August 2021 at 3:04 pm #182915Nine..he method of the false 9 is that others score goals as well, which we are not doing at the moment. In my view , it is less about a striker. Augerro did not exist last season and the season before had limited appearances and we did not do so bad. Too much emphasis on the Augerro loss, Davis Silva was the biggest loss, he was the one that made it happen. Bernado off the boil, Mahrez and sterling not in the same class only KDB Grealish and Foden can lift us at moment in front. Gungdoghan will help when fit for 90 minutes

17th August 2021 at 3:11 pm #182918It’s a risk Brian City going without a striker this season imo but with or without Kane or indeed an alternative I certainly wouldn’t dismiss City as potential PL title winners as I said yesterday City will be different gravy once KDB and Foden are fully fit and back in the team.

17th August 2021 at 3:12 pm #182919Ed,
People have that horrible pundit they dislike. for the I’m not the biggest fan of Owen Hargreaves. for me he doesn’t make any sense when he is in the studio, he often likes to take a dig at the clubs, rather than give his insight. I happen to like Souness, I understand he sometimes goes overboard, but his insights are good when his head is in the right place.

17th August 2021 at 4:10 pm #182921AnonymousYa, for me Pogba would have to put in a lot more than a single great game here or there before I’ll see past all the other stuff (seemingly uninterested for years and flashy image stuff). I am expecting him to have his best season though here. The rest of the team are firing, so now he seems interested. he did there as Utd got off the ground last seaosn too. So for me, I don’t see why Sounness has to credit a player he doesn’t respect, after 1 good game. I guess we’ll agree to disagree for now and in time you may find that Sounness changes his tune.
And ya, we all have pundits that we don’t like. TBH, there are a fair few that annoy me from time to time. A few of the Irish pundits , now there is bitterness! I used to be in the minority in liking them, years ago but I can’t stand listening to them anymore (Dunphy and Giles). Neville is bloody annoying sometimes but on the whole, he’s a better pundit than I ever expected him to be. i do think that working for Sky, there’s this constant search for the overly dramatic with him though… Just stop it. Same with Neville-Lite (Carra). I just want to tell them both to shut up sometimes. Keane is more tolerable because he’s amusing but there’s still that Sky melodrama.

17th August 2021 at 5:53 pm #182922Yeah each to their own Mak 🙂. I think Souness will have no choice but to change his tune if he wants to keep his job, to be honest. There’s been quite a strong backlash now with this Pogba thing becoming a regular occurrence.

17th August 2021 at 8:36 pm #182923AnonymousConte does not play unattractive football, it purely depends on what players he has available, if they attractive players he will play beautiful football and win and it they not good enough he will still win but then he becomes an ugly kinda of winner.

17th August 2021 at 11:30 pm #182926Yeah, I’m similar to Mak on Pogba. I find him to be a “good time” player and I’m wondering whether Bruno is the same. Basically when things are good in the team, they are beautiful to watch and dominate. When the chips are down and you want your senior players to pull the rest of the team up with them and lead by example, they go completely missing. That, for me is the difference between very good players and world class players and why I don’t believe Utd will be mounting a serious title challenge as they need more battle-hardened players. I only see Maguire as having those qualities in that team.

18th August 2021 at 6:18 am #182929Haha, that’s a good observation Foxy; it sorted of mirrored what I recently went through in my own workplace.
Last season though, Fernandes was instrumental. He’s driven. I think he has a good relationship with Ole and so he’s more driven. I couldn’t quite see that in Pogba, but every player is different, though, when the chips are down, players should be prepared to roll their sleeves up and dig deep in turning around adversity.

18th August 2021 at 7:21 am #182930I mean the whole England squad bottled it when the going got tough. I doubt our pundits will hold agendas against them. If Thiago has a stormer, I very much doubt Souness would ignore it simply because Thiago was crap last season. Pundits aren’t there to hold grudges. Nor should it matter what Pogba cost. Will Grealish, for example, get the same scrutiny, being the first £100mil player? Of course he won’t.
Players should be judged on their performance in the game, not what’s gone before. I appreciate if people haven’t followed the Souness/Pogba thing so aren’t aware of the history but there’s a fair bit there. It’s a running joke on twitter that Souness finds a way to blame Pogba for everything that goes wrong.
For the record,I agree with Foxy regarding Utd not being good enough for a challenge this season. That squad is still some way off City and Chelsea. Arguably Liverpool too.
