I dunno if ye’d definitely have won it Nine. We were well able for ye before you went down to 10. We didnt need a penalty , we’d have taken a goal. The second half, Chelsea getting more defensive made it harder for us to create chances, although we also ran out of ideas.

We’ll never know now Mak so it’s a pointless debate but Chelsea should have gone into ht 2 nil up overall they were the better team in the first half rightly or wrongly the penalty decision and the sending off changed the game in Liverpool’s favour and the sending off not only cost Chelsea James but Havertz too plus Kante to injury so we lost three of our best players at ht and were reduced to 10 men for over 45 minutes at Anfield too.

Brilliant defensive organisation and great substitutions rightfully earned us a point which was a much better point for Chelsea than it was for Liverpool and renforced the view that Chelsea are probably genuine title challengers.

“Liverpool have condemned supporters who sang homophobic chants aimed at Chelsea during Saturday’s Premier League match at Anfield.

Last week, Jurgen Klopp urged supporters to put an end to the offensive chants after Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour, on loan at Norwich, was targeted with the words ‘Chelsea rent boy’ during Liverpool’s 3-0 win at Carrow Road on August 14.

Liverpool immediately branded the chant as “offensive and inappropriate” ” SkySports

Shame it happened again even more so given Klopp’s plea last week to Liverpool fans to end the chant.

If you play for Chelsea you’re a rent boy

Doubt most even know what it means 🤣

Not saying it’s right but it’s not a direct slur at a player so much as the club

Ok but this is just your opinion on how the first half should have gone. I thought we were every bit as good as ye until the sending off. I don’t think you should have gone in 2 nil up at all either. We had our own chances to score. Where the debate improves for you lads, is Liverpool’s inability to break the re-organization of Chelsea’s approach down.

The game suffered as a result of the red card, 100%. I’d even argue that Liverpool’s chances did because we were inept from then on. The way Chelsea handled going down to 10 men was genuinely impressive, im not mat all taking away from that, I just disagree with yourself and the other Chelsea lads in how well you think the game was going for ye up until that point. Maybe the Liverpool lads don’t agree with me here though also but I’d argue that we were the better team in the first half. Chelsea had spells for sure, so did we though. Chelsea had a few good chances but again, so did we.

We are going to have to agree to disagree but Im going to speak up for how well Liverpool did in that first half because it’s becoming a generally accepted opinion here that Liverpool were somehow on the back foot in the first half.. and that’s just not the case.

What we saw absolutely does support chelsea’s ability to challenge for the title. Liverpool would have scored several against most teams in that opening 20 or so. I mean, Hendo really should have done better. This will rile up the LFC lads here but I think he was poor overall, so was Mane. When we lost Firmino, we were far flatter. Jota can come on and score goals but we lack guile with him in there instead of Firmino.

I’m kinda starting to think that we’ll have to get a better forward in the summer. I hate to say it and I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think Jota is good enough to be our 4th offensive option. Is he putting any pressure on the other 3? Only if they play really poorly and that’s defeating the purpose.

I do agree with Mak however that the first half really wasn’t as one sided as some are making out, certainly nowhere near enough to say Chelsea should have been 2 up at the break. I mean 1-2 at best surely, given the hand ball on the goal line.

Making it a slur on the Club as foolish as it is doesn’t make it ok though Stevo it’s been going on far too long now.

Given what Klopp said and the respect Liverpool fans are meant to have for him I’m surprised it happened again just one week later and after his plea to Liverpool fans to stop it. But idiots are idiots and always will be no matter who they support.

I mentioned yesterday about Chelsea’s resilience. This is what Tuchel has brought in because he knows how to organize a defence.

There was no surprise on the balance of play prior to the sending off, Chelsea sat back and played us on the counter. They had their moments and one of those was a moment of brilliance from a set piece that Alisson could do absolutely nothing about.

We lacked conviction and ruthlessness at times in the first half and in the second half, we had saves pulled off against us by Mendy. For me, there’s a question mark on Harvey Elliot whether he’s good enough to make the grade. We could have come with all 3 points but unfortunately had to settle for a point which was probably a better point for the Away team.

For sure 999 but it’s hard to stop a well established chant regardless of accuracy or if it’s a racial or homophobic slur

You don’t stop them unless you have better video sound coverage on all fans so it’s easy to find those who do but then that becomes very 1984 😁
