I would have to be sympathetic towards both Man United and Arsenal. In their defence, they are in a rebuilding process and perhaps to qualify for the CL this term wasn’t beyond the realms of possibility, but it’s down to needing enough points and consistently winning using the stock of players you have inherited. This applies to both Ole and Unai.
These Gents need time and ideally coping with less pressure. Maybe the Europa could be a better deal, but there is still preparation needed to play a good portion of fixtures.
It’s a no brainer you need large squads to be able to rotate, but a core of fit, reliable and quality players that can cope with excess of 60 games for the course of the season.

5th May 2019 at 7:39 pm #39993Now feeling very calm. after a very nervy campaign. top4 secured now. now our next mission is to reach the EL final. then next is a small matter to secure in top3 finish. our CL participation is 99% guaranteed now. we only have one mission. just to deny our North London neighbors CL participation next season. i would love that to happen. and many Spurs fans would agree with me?.
Maurizio Sarri has now done his primary job which was to return the team in to the CL fold. even though some of the so called football football experts called for his sacking. but he still has the last laugh. Neville, Carra, Hoddle, Owen, Shearer and many others have written off Chelsea’s top4 hopen. what a time to pay them back! now let me see how those pundits react. their next story will ve how will Chelsea cope without Hazard?

I disagree with you there! i still believe we will finish above them. we have the momentum and advantage. whereas they are missing some key players.

5th May 2019 at 8:02 pm #39997Chelseaman, not impossible mate but have we been better than Spurs this season I’m not sure we have and on that basis Spurs probably deserve to finish above us.
Both Club’s have tough final games but Leicester away is probably a tad tougher than Everton at home currently. No big deal though the only difference between finishing 3rd and 4th these days is prize money and importantly we’ve achieved CL football now.
Going to Leicester needing something from the game after playing Eintracht on Thursday night would have been tough thankfully we don’t have to worry about that now. Cheers 999

5th May 2019 at 8:34 pm #40003Some Chelsea fans wanted sari sacked a few weeks ago and now the man could end up with cl football and a cup
Shoes how fickle fans are. Itβs madness some fans wonβt even give a manager a season
Seems to be happening OGS already aswellZ some utd fans questioning him already. Crazy stuff
For the first time since Fergie left, I actually think utd are in trouble. Half of that team doesnβt understand what is to be a utd player.plain lack of effort. Iβd throw Pogba out of that club.

5th May 2019 at 8:42 pm #40004Sean, fans react to results and how their team plays no matter who the team is particularly the match going fans.
Chelsea have been patchy on both fronts and there are still a lot of misgivings about Sarri amongst the fans CL qualification or not EL trophy or not.
Personally I’m still not convinced by Sarri but there are no stand out alternatives so I would give him next season and see where he might be able to take us.

5th May 2019 at 9:00 pm #40006United have tried a Fergie clone, and two quick fixes with LVG and Jose and none of them have really worked they are now trying back to the future.
Ole started like a train which led to his appointment being confirmed.
Not all United fans were sure it was the right decision and currently it looks like United may have jumped to soon but they have to go with it now.

5th May 2019 at 9:09 pm #40007I know none but at least give the manager a year before turning on him especially as you could see from Chelsea first 7/8 games they could play really well with those tactics
I understand sari is very stubborn but itβs a total new style of football and he needs st least 18 months and deserves that time since he got top 4.

5th May 2019 at 9:14 pm #40009Interesting tweet. Was a while ago in 2011 admittedly, but still quite telling nonetheless.
2011 when i asked SolskjΓ¦r what he would do if he got offered the United job: – I would never say no if i was offered the job. Never. I couldnt say no. Even if i knew i wasnt ready for the job.

5th May 2019 at 9:17 pm #40010Nine @ 8:42, wholeheartedly with you on that one (Sorry Sean).
We obviously can’t predict what’s going to happen until we’ve pretty much reached the end point of the season. If I was a Chelsea fan, I’d probably be kicking and screaming and wanting the man sacked.
I would use the analogy of the ‘Red Letter Day Experience’, I’d say with confidence through the journey of this season a lot of the time, Chelsea Supporters have not liked the wear and tear. Rightly so from their point of view in expectations, which in essence is the rationale and what they are here for.
To add also, you can win a match and get 3 points or go over the finishing line, but you may have not enjoyed the experience of what you have to go through.
Managerial changes for Chelsea in circumstance impacts adjusting; One Guy has one Style, Another has something else in mind. Not easy at all mentally to live and breathe it. Credit though all in all qualifying for the Champions League and placing themselves in a position to try and reach the Europa Cup Final in which my old fashioned terms and concept, the Uefa Cup π

5th May 2019 at 9:22 pm #40013I wouldn’t say the Utd fans have turned on Ole Sean. I’d say the ones having a go now are the same ones praying the club would wait before announcing him as the permanent manager. Being fickle means constantly changing your opinion. Utd fans like myself love Ole but felt all along he was the wrong long term appointment.
The Utd match going fans are a loyal bunch though. Jose still had plenty of support in the stands right up until his departure and Ole will continue to be backed in the stands until his inevitable departure and will remain very well thought of long after his spell as manager comes to an end.
In fact, if I was in charge, I’d do everything I possibly could to keep Ole at the club in some capacity. Global ambassador, head of culture, head of youth development. Call it what you want but the way he’s spoken since he came in has been a breath of fresh air for Utd fans and he can be a huge asset to preserve some Utd tradition while staying away from day to day management tasks, where he’s sadly way out of his depth.

5th May 2019 at 9:30 pm #40014Ed, quality post mate in last paragraph and wholeheartedly agree.
It’s nature to run away with the ‘here and now emotions’. You need the Time and Reflection to digest it all, and just come away from mainstream spotlight.
Cheers

5th May 2019 at 10:03 pm #40016If truth be told Ed, if there’s still trouble ahead for Solksjaer, it won’t really be his fault. When you make a pig’s ear of the last few strategies/appointments, it’ll take years for that legacy to be purged from the club. Solksjaer’s job really is an attempt to pick up the pieces from the mess. It’s the strategy the board need to now prioritise, then decide on the manager later on when a suitable candidate becomes available. Indeed it might be that Solksjaer proves a useful shield to clear some of the mess away from a future more long term appointment (look at the mess Emery is having to deal with at Arsenal which is now putting him under pressure). The key thing for the board is now to try and not become too clever like FSG did early on at Liverpool with things like transfer committees. Clear up the mess and plan a sensible long term way forward.
