In my own opinion the “Rafa out” times were the darkest Ive experienced as a fan. I remember about half the fan base wanting Rafa out and I remember thinking they had absolutely no idea WTF they were talking about.
Backing Rafa over and over and over to his own apparent fans was just the most futile effort I’ve made as a red and I recall just giving in and thinking that nobody could possibly be a success under these conditions. I was thinking of course about the owners and that section of fans.
I didn’t want to admit that it was best that he moved on because it had absolutely nothing to do with him himself. It was down to a toxic environment.
So, Nil I will just say that you have no idea what you’re on about man. Rafa is a true red legend and I’ll not have you shitting on his legacy over some misguided petulance. Newcastle caused us a lot of problems, so you go on a rage about Rafa? Grow the fuck up.
2005 was great for so many reasons. You can try to attribute them all to one person but you don’t become the champions of Europe by winning the last game of the group stages and it’s certainly not done on the back of one man, full stop.
Nil, it’s just so disappointing to read that kind of comment. You have a pattern of lashing out at our opposition but you’ve gone way too far this time.

5th May 2019 at 8:10 am #39913AnonymousAs for Newcastle, they really I pressed me yesterday, to the point where I was sure in my own mind that it was all over at this ground. The players thought it too, sometimes anyway.
How many times has ANY team caused us so many defensive problems this season? There was Chelsea and maybe spurs early in the season. Then there was city in the game we lost. There was one other team and for the life of me it’s not coming to me. Was it Watford perhaps? Maybe one of us will remember for me… my point is, then there’s Newcastle and pretty much nobody else.
A team managed by someone who gets almost no financial backing over 2 years, with a team that should have been relegated last season and actually this season also… this group and manager deserve huge credit. Rafa is a GENIUS for getting that performance out of that team/level of backing.
It was a huge relief to see us grab that 3rd goal. I was sat there thinking it was over, while the city team were 5 minutes from literally celebrating winning the title.
What was going to be a hammer blow for us, was deflected onto City. Credit to the lads for keeping their focus and getting that win under the toughest conditions. Van Dijk was switched on and directing for the goal… that’s captain material right there.
The pressure that city are going to feel against Leicester will be the true test of a champion, “brought to you in association with Liverpool” ๐
City might get an early goal , before any pressure sets in. If they win, it won’t be a late one like ours, most likely but if it is and they go on to take the title on the final day, they are the greatest PL team ever.
There really should be a nickname for this season. It’s that good.

5th May 2019 at 8:12 am #39914It’s the Saurez Syndrome all over again… if anything it’s getting worse. Saurez only played 110 games for Pool yet he owes them everything, Rafa only won you the European and eventually got the sack, yet he still owes everything to Pool. Present employers be damned!!

5th May 2019 at 8:28 am #39915AnonymousI think I heard someone on TV refer to highlander with regards to this season, so let’s call it ‘Highlander’.
There can be only one.

5th May 2019 at 8:32 am #39916AnonymousSeems that’s why he was frothing at the mouth. Getting precious because Rafa wouldn’t roll over. “How dare Rafa make us earn taking the title to the final day, Im going to attack his legacy!!”

5th May 2019 at 9:16 am #39921Dier looks really unfit and overweight.
Shocking spurs performance – looks like the gypsy curse I put on them until they pay for the stadium is holding good.

5th May 2019 at 9:22 am #39922Great to have taken the title challenge into the last game of the season – massive progress and great experience for the team.
I expect City to cruise through two wins and to seal the title. Amazing season.
On the off chance that city drop points to Leicester, Iโd play the reserves against Barcelona and put everything into the wolves game.

5th May 2019 at 9:43 am #39923To be fair to Dier, yesterday was his 2nd start of the year, after all his injuries and illnesses… (not much of an excuse, granted, but missing 98% of the last 35/40 games has to count for something?)

5th May 2019 at 9:53 am #39924Dier is a very average player
Rafa is an absolute Liverpool
Legend. Not just for his European cup but because he understands the club, the city and the people. I donโt really have to go into his connection with us regards hillsborough etc. This is why people love Klopp. He gets everything about the club. Hodgson didnโt from day one.
Saurez is not a legend. Torres is not a legend.Rafa, Gerrard, Kenny etc are true Liverpool legends

And stop with the “Highlander FC are an extra double special club” nonsense… you’re just another football like the rest of us (who happened to win a lot in the 70’s… ๐ )

5th May 2019 at 9:58 am #39926Beni itโs good to hear from you mate. Hope you are keeping ok
Totally agree. We are on our last legs now. We look shattered. Weโre losing players etc. itโs just great itโs going to the last day.
Fully expect city to win it but we have it everything. We wonโt lose it like last time. Ciry will win it
Last night we showed balls. We were shattered. Lovren has to go.
We got lucky. Taa could have been sent off. Done to ten men would have been a disaster.
Newcastle were excellent. We found a way to win. I wonโt be near as gutted as last time as we have given it everything and come up againest a brilliant team

Ya, Sturridge is way past his best. He is no longer PL quality and should probably just retire TBH.

5th May 2019 at 11:12 am #39933I have to take a more sympathetic view on Sturridge.
I noticed abundantly last night that there was no communication verbally between the players. Klopp seemed slightly distant too. I don’t know why that was and whether this was simply down to not wanting to play on a Saturday Night.
Unfortunately, if we want to reap the TV Revenue, then if a fixture gets moved all of a sudden, we don’t really have any say.
Sturridge-Mane-Salah got in each others way by going for the same ball. Sturridge’s confidence has dropped though I still think he has ability, but lack of first team opportunities has otherwise prevented him from showing what he’s capable of such as the equalizer at Chelsea earlier this season that earned us a vital point.
It’s likely he’ll be moved on this summer and Brendan will take him away. Pretty sad in a way, but probably the best course of action for all parties connected.

5th May 2019 at 11:17 am #3993494 points is a tremendous achievement.
It’s likely for this not to be repeated next season for x y z reasons, but I firmly believe it will be a Man City-Liverpool contest again.

5th May 2019 at 11:29 am #39936Sean, you’re right mate.
Pretty sad the way things are with Sturridge, but just something we have to accept.
It doesn’t look too good with Firmino as I can’t see him play on Tuesday. Not too sure about Salah. Origi has done well, but this shows we need to buy a top quality Striker in the Summer – our depth of the squad looks maxed-out.
