OGS, if you step back at look at his good points he has on paper the experience to make a top quality manager. Taking nothing away from him as a player but he did spend a lot of time on the bench, which should now serve him well as a manager.
As a player under SAF he would be involved with all the pre match training and tactics required for the next game, he would then sit by him as the game unfolded, hear what he had to say during play, hear his half time talk, see how his changes worked or didnβt, sometimes he would go on and try and implement those changes and then be part of the post match analysis.
This would normally be a great apprenticeship for a future manager, however the rise of player power and the like has seen the end of the Fergie/Cloughie type manager, and as such means although OGS has had a brilliant insight into managing in the aforementioned style he now needs to adapt that knowledge to managing the modern elite footballer, and possibly trying to adapt to the changes needed under the spotlight of managing one of the biggest clubs in the world is not the best place to do it.
If he can master the new type of man management now required and marry it with the tactical nouse he has absorbed, he could become a fabulous manager, only time will tell….Pagan

5th May 2019 at 10:23 pm #40020I was describing Chelsea fans as fickle Ed mate. Some screaming for him to go a few months back now a few have changed their minds
Iβm just going by forums on ole Ed. Few friends even questioning it.
Far to early to judge

5th May 2019 at 10:32 pm #40021I don’t honestly get the emphasis placed on Man United, solely. Sure from a LFC point of view, this is ‘a dream’. Be grown up though; focus ALL on them? Don’t buy that.
Tottenham lost 13 games and are crap in that essence. They are Rubbish. Deli Alli is ‘thumbed up’ because of the same in Harry Winks. England are WEAK point blank in English Players, so the lovey-dovey follows.
You think to yourself ‘analysing’ this in f- this. The teams below aren’t any good against the ‘Elite’ of the Prem.
Maybe and simply, times are changing and it is what it is.

5th May 2019 at 11:36 pm #40022You’re wrong Sean Sarri was never a wholly accepted appointment a lot of Chelsea fans were never completely onside with his appointment and were suspicious of his background and the fact that he had never won anything despite his relative success at Napoli.
There have been numerous occasions this season when his decision making has been called into question that hasn’t gone away I would say that the Chelsea site for instance have been 90% frustrated with Sarri and no one on there is jumping up and down and saying Sarri is now the man because he’s achieved CL football.
There’s a general realisation out there amongst Chelsea fans that there aren’t many if any credible replacements for Sarri even so there remain concerns amongst many about continuing with him.
There was a negative reaction from Chelsea fans to Sarri not selecting Hazard for a European Semi Final this week and seemingly there’s an uneasiness at Board level to that decision. And there have been continuous question marks from Chelsea fans about Sarri’s isolation of Cahill which Cahill himself has spoken out about today.
There’s been no fickleness from Chelsea fans in respect of Sarri merely high levels of uncertainty and that remains. I’m not sure what led you to claim that Chelsea fans are fickle in respect of Sarri if you read the Sarri out thread on the Chelsea site it certainly doesn’t reflect fickleness.
Personally on balance I would give him another season but I still remain unconvinced CL qualification or not and there’s no guarantee that will happen either and the Board won’t react losing 6 nil to Man City and 4 nil to Bournemouth is unacceptable for a Club of the level of Chelsea.

6th May 2019 at 6:39 am #40029AnonymousBricks, Neville can be honest and speak the truth quite a bit but I just get the feeling that he’s just a puppet. I know they all are to some extent but I wonder about him and his own opinions.
Recently he’s laid it on way too thick with his silly rivalry with carra. You know this is fuxking sky. It’s just that I wanna hear intelligent debate and genuine banter only.
It’s so fake and forced. Like when Neville called on Utd to rest players against us…. die in a fire like, seriously.
It’s funny how opinions change tho. I used to not really like souness but I honestly like him now. I can’t stand the BBC side tho at all. Ian Wright and lineker etc… morons. Absolute morons.

6th May 2019 at 7:45 am #40034“The Race Nobody Wanted To Win” has finally be run and won by two teams on the simple basis of the other two teams being even worse… all a bit of a damp squib at the end!!
Of course, the Goonies could still qualify by winning the Mini-Ears Cup, would certainly make an all London final a little bit more interesting for us neutrals.
But back to Spuds, as mentioned before, a big, big summer coming up for them… keep everybody (odd’s are slightly better now!) and sign 3/4 decent players, who knows what will happen next year, we certainly can’t have the same injury issues again, can we?

6th May 2019 at 8:48 am #40035If I believed all the pro-Leicester media comments and reports City may as well not turn up tonight. Vardy is going to beat us on his own.
What will be will be. The Irish media (see Newsnow) seem to have a constant anti City agenda. Every article! Could it be the Irish support Utd and Liverpool? I think so for historic and religion reasons. I have to laugh every time I read one of their articles.
If we win tonight it will be all on the final day. Get the loo rolls in,,_____________________________

6th May 2019 at 9:01 am #40037Chucky, I can’t believe I’m going to say this. But here goes.?
Spurs have been nomads for the best part of two seasons playing all their games at Wembley and haven’t bought a player since 2017 whilst those around them have strengthened their squads spending hundreds of millions yet Spurs have still qualified for the CL this season have made the Semi Finals and may go further and at one stage this season they looked like credible challengers for the title.
If Spurs hang on to the likes of Eriksen etc now esconsed in their new Stadium and if Levy backs Poch in the transfer market and they make one or two quality signings and can make their squad a tad deeper they are imo the natural challengers to both City and Liverpool and could give both a good run.
Going to have to have a long lie down now saying the above has taken it out of me! Lol.

6th May 2019 at 9:11 am #40039Ahhh…. extra bones for you!!!
The “key” is really keeping Wee Erik and Toby, keep those two and get a few more bodies in and you may well be right… going slightly defensive, but along with the Goonie impreession (nomadic! π See what I did there?) we’ve not had the best season with injuries which I think has exacerbated our squad depth. Son missed about 7 games with those tourny’s with Korea, Sir Harry’s missed about 8 games with his “glass” ankles, The Moose was injured about 8 weeks before we sold him anyway, Dier has pretty much been missing since Christmas, Dinksy Winksy has been in and out the treatment room all season… and it goes on. Not using it as an excuse, but I don’t think our squad is as bad as it’s made out. Could be better of course, and should be better…
Of course, the big question is simply who do we get? Mentioned it before, my “priority” would be 2 new full-backs (one for each side!) and a top-draw CM… and obviously replacements for Wee Erik and Toby if they bugger off for pastures new…

6th May 2019 at 9:13 am #40040Must admit I’m mildly surprised Chelsea made the top 4 with a game to spare and thanks mainly to the benevolence of other teams, yesterdays result was not fair on Watford who were the better side in the first half so our luck has changed again to good. Transfer ban or not the team needs to be seriously looked at from a playing point of view, a few players don’t merit starting so regularly. A lot of ironing out to be done for next season. I imagine Sarri will be there now that he achieved a top 4 and a possible Europa Cup.

6th May 2019 at 9:20 am #40041Problem for Chelsea is waiting for this “transfer” ban to sort itself out… going to be a real struggle to get a new manager if that is hanging over you (despite whether Sarri is sacked or not, there’s always the possibility he’ll walk… he keeps being linked with jobs back in Italy!)

6th May 2019 at 9:23 am #40042Chucky, forgot to mention the injuries that have certainly played a part this season.
It looks likely that City and Liverpool will dominate the PL next season again.
I can’t see Chelsea challenging them there are still too many uncertainties at the Bridge and the same applies to both United and Arsenal which leaves Spurs as the most likely challenger providing things fall into place and Poch is backed in the transfer market.
Β£250m would be a big help though Daniel.?

6th May 2019 at 9:30 am #40043Chucky,I don’t think Sarri will walk he’s very stubborn and wants to prove himself in the PL.
The uncertainty of the ban is a problem we need the FIFA decision which if it’s no as it surely will be opens up an appeal to CAS who have always suspended the band until an appeal is heard which typically takes several months so would free up the Summer window if that happened I could see us bring pretty active.
Given the loan players we have available to bring back plus Pulisic I think we could soften the ban but without buying in new players that will set us back of being able to close the gap on City and Liverpool over the next few seasons.

6th May 2019 at 9:48 am #40045Depending on which rag you read, “we’ve” got anywhere between 50 and 150 to chuck about, plus player sales of course, but who really knows?? Hardly going to announce it one way or the other…
Personally will be very surprised if we spend 100 mill “NET”… (dirty word, I know! π )

6th May 2019 at 9:59 am #40046What you need to remember is that City and Liverpool will also invest. We will be changing a few players too. We need to replace Fernandinho, possibly Otemendi, possibly Danilo, possibly Gundogan (if you believe papers). None of that will be easy.

6th May 2019 at 10:06 am #40047Adlab, your always moaning about something lol
There will be no twists and turns
You would swear Leicester were Barcelona the way some are going on
City will beat them easily. 9 days rest. No doubt Vardy will go off injured lol
City have won 12 games in a row. Itβs really exceptional. They will fully deserve to win the league
I thought Liverpool would have faded weeks ago. Iβm not even that disappointed as I know we will have lost our to an unreal side.
I wonβt be watching anyway. City will win easily enough
I canβt see anything silly or crazy happening. No silly pens or sendings off etc
