3rd May 2023 at 10:08 pm #206659Itβs not important Harry, agreed. Just wondered, on a footy forum, why that was given with the technology we have these days.
As for Casemiro, I generally quite enjoy pointing out that those who thought that type of challenge did not occur each week are wrong, and need to be more objective, rather than stating any red card for Utd is deserved.

3rd May 2023 at 10:40 pm #206661Hadn’t seen the Liverpool game or heard the commentary but this did look pretty soft Nil. You’ve had some good decisions in recent weeks with the Jota one, this one and no pen to West Ham for thr potential handball. No doubt you’ve had plenty go against you this season too but it feels like Liverpool are in that type of form where things are just falling for you at the right time. We’ve all been there. Utd and Newcastle are going to have to keep winning to stop Brighton or Liverpool sneaking into the top 4.
VAR is corrupt as fuck. There is no contact here how did they give a penalty. Ah aye its Liverpool innit pic.twitter.com/EJ07FGPOZe

3rd May 2023 at 10:53 pm #206664Ed, never dispute mate at all re Jota and don’t condone Jurgen’s Behaviour. We do seem to be filled in Accentuation though. Though people forget the decisions in recent times that have gone against us; offside and perfectly legitimate goal ala Jordan Henderson against Everton. ‘Studs Up’ seems to be the ‘Chorus’ repeatedly oh my goodness, yet no mention and condemnation of Jordan Pickford’s antics towards Virgil Van Dijk that really hampered him and NEVER been the SAME PLAYER since…

3rd May 2023 at 10:57 pm #206665Bit soft perhaps Ed, but the Fulham defender is still clumsy swinging his leg out like that. It’s asking for trouble. In other words, most strikers are going to make the most of that.

3rd May 2023 at 10:59 pm #206666I haven’t really watched Liverpool games Nil. Just happened to see those decisions on my twitter timeline. I’ve no doubt you’ve had things go against you, as I already said. Things will always get highlighted though for the big clubs.

3rd May 2023 at 11:01 pm #206667Oh, no doubt Mikus. He’s given the ref a decision to make. Don’t like how Darwin leaves his leg in there for the contact but they all do it. I’ll certainly not be moaning if we get one of them tomorrow. Think we’ve had 2 pens all season, though, less than anyone so I won’t be holding my breath π.

3rd May 2023 at 11:06 pm #206668Ed, I really wouldn’t worry about top 4. Yes, you have 2 tricky away games next, but after that all your games are at Old Trafford to sides you should beat (only being away to Bournemouth I think). If we have any hope of top 4, I think Newcastle have the trickier run in vs Arsenal and then several sides fighting relegation. But we really shouldn’t tease ourselves. You can’t suddenly start performing from matchday 30 and expect much from the season.

3rd May 2023 at 11:12 pm #206669I’m not worried tbh. If we don’t get top 4 from here then we wouldn’t deserve it as we’d be throwing it away. That’s not to say I’m confident yet but I just think we need to accept that letting it go from this point would mean we have no right to be there. As you suggest, Liverpool have no right to be there either really based on your season.

3rd May 2023 at 11:24 pm #206670Ed, we’re not honestly going to get top 4. I’m not falling into that trap at all in raising my hopes only to be crushed. Can’t bear to deal with that in the slightest.
Our season’s finished. We struggled to uphold a lead against Fulham who clearly in almost had some sort of a hold over us. Nothing for us. Would rather avoid the Thursday Nights and the lengthy matches.

3rd May 2023 at 11:48 pm #206671Whilst this season will rightly be remembered for its poor showing in midfield and at the back, I still maintain (like a few seasons ago when we lost 6 home games in a row), that our performance is directly linked to how well our attack is performing. If the attack is in good form, weβll always have a good chance in a game regardless if weβre poor at the other end. But if the attack ainβt quite there, we really really struggle.
There is pretty much nothing in midfield to help us out in the form of goals. No coincidence the return of Jota & Diaz has seen an uptick in form.

5th May 2023 at 10:06 am #206675I think Chelsea should actually get rid of Lampard now. Do what Leeds did.
Maddness how all this had ended up for Chelsea

5th May 2023 at 2:49 pm #206676Lampard will go as soon as they find a long term (initially!) successor. Whilst they will underperform with him I think they will also let down any interim manager. They might as well find the replacement and go with that. I think Leeds wanted to act as relegation is a real threat for them, and Chelsea being on 39 points are probably safe. Though having to write Chelsea are probably safe from relegation in a sentence for the first time ever is almost making me change my mind and agree with you Sean! Shocking how bad they have been this season.

5th May 2023 at 3:21 pm #206677Yeah I agree Alfie. He probably should go but I think there are 2 reasons he won’t. Firstly, as you suggested they’re probably safe now regardless. Secondly, I think they (the owners) are very aware of how bad their image is at the moment in the eyes of the fans. To ditch a club legend so soon into an interim spell is drama they could do without.
Based on the decisions they’ve made so far, they probably have absolutely no idea who they would bring in to replace Lampard until the summer anyway. Imagine if they brought in another interim and he did no better. They’d look even worse. It shouldn’t be underestimated either how difficult it must be to bring in another interim just for 4/5 games either. Who is out there who would want that? By now, you have to assume the likes of Poch have said they want to wait until the summer. I have no doubt they’d have already brought in their new permanent manager if that person was prepared to start immediately.

5th May 2023 at 4:52 pm #206678Ye valid points guys. Lampard really had done himself no favours here. Bizarre line ups and co stent formation changes like he always does

5th May 2023 at 5:26 pm #206679Spurs have sacked their interim manager. There’s an argument that Leeds sacked their interim manager (think he was only given from Feb until summer on a flexible contract). And if Lampard had been fired that would have made 3 interim managers sacked.
Can’t be a healthy state state of affairs when even interim managers are getting sacked. Some interesting decision making being made at board levels.
