Shiney, I agree with you I think it will take at least a couple of seasons for the chasing pack to potentially become challengers but don’t forget that in October 2017 when Spurs beat Liverpool 4-1 at Wembley and Liverpool dropped to 9th place and significantly behind City on points you would have got very long odds on Liverpool being where they are today.
Their 4 key signings starting with Van Dijk turned things around for Liverpool and City back then looked completely uncatchable by anyone and the rest as they say is history.?

12th January 2020 at 2:08 pm #59004I donβt think itβs just the signings that helped nine. Look at the teams we have bought from.
Klopp has improved most of them. Alison and vvd were massive signings but the coaching that goes into how we defend is enormous. No doubt vvd was a massive turning point though. Heβs a proper organiser.
I have to admit I was very unsure over vvd and Alison so it shows what I know
We play such a high line from open play and set plays that one step out of line from one player and we are snookered
The best thing we ever did was sell couthino but it didnβt look like at the time mate
Robertson, Winji both bought for modest fees yet klopp has turned them into top class players.

12th January 2020 at 2:10 pm #59008Agree about chelsea. Abraham has really surprised me. That really is an excellent goal return so far.
Top 4 be excellent for Chelsea in Lampards 1st season

9-This is not just a football team, mate. This is a machine that Klopp has created. Its a good thing nobody knows the future-thank God for that.Lets hope there are many teams challenging Pool next year,City will require a rebuild, but who knows….

Great team Mav no don’t about it but two seasons ago you could have said the same about Pep a d City and that’s my point.

12th January 2020 at 2:38 pm #59027Sean, I agree Klopp is a great Coach and he definitely improves players. But Β£150m on Alison and VVD which we can now see was money very well spent weren’t bargain buys although perhaps they look a bit like that now.?
The key signings that Klopp made has turned Liverpool from top 4 challengers to triple Champions credit to Klopp though for the signings and how it’s changed Liverpool they now not only have a phenomenal attack but a phenomenal defence now too but prior to those signings Klopp was struggling to match the defensive side of Liverpool’s game to the attacking side of Liverpool’s game.

12th January 2020 at 2:45 pm #590339-Not really mate, not about City. They were kind of bullies, in footballing terms. This Liverpool side dont just beat “weak” teams 4 or 5-0,they play the same flowing, attacking football against anybody, grinding out 1-0s,creating chances.Plus, they havent spent hundreds of millions, but made 2[TWO] very expensive signings in VVD & Allison[not counting Keita as he hasnt developed into the player his price suggests],and improved the rest to world class.i.e.Mane,Salah,Firminho,Robertson,TAA,Henderson,Wijnaldum,Origi,etc.

12th January 2020 at 2:46 pm #59034Ye I agree nine but I think klopp has improved vvd hugely aswell.
Absolutely crazy money at the time we all thought
Selling couthino and using the money to buy the lads was great business.
This squad had been assembled for a net spend less then 100m
Thatβs remarkable and Michael Edwards has played a massive role in buying and selling players

12th January 2020 at 2:49 pm #590409-I would much rather have Shaqiri,Winaldum and Henderson[no idea how much they cost-combined?],than the utterly useless Instagramvirus that cost Β£90m,and the Β£52m right said-Fred.Or maybe, just maybe, its the fact that they play for United, and it seems every player joining us becomes worse,or is it the Klopp factor, who knows…

12th January 2020 at 2:52 pm #59042Mav, if you track back on the forums you will find that nobody could see anyone catching City for years and in 2017 Liverpool were a long way behind them whatever City may have spent.
Everyone will be chasing this young Chelsea team soon anyway.?

12th January 2020 at 3:01 pm #59050Nine, it was just humour mate, though there maybe is something in that meaning that over the years, we heavily relied up on him to get us out of jail and he did so so often.
If he was out for any reason, the rest of the team wasn’t as good or strong enough. This team Klopp has built is stronger all round. We have a nucleus, and there’s depth, but just the overall Synergy and Resilience more than ever and better than ever that’s generated Consistency.

12th January 2020 at 3:37 pm #590729s-There might be another kinda half a chance for the rest of the PL,the fact that from this all-conquering Liverpool side a few players might just fancy another challenge somewhere else.i.e.Barca,Real,PSG.

12th January 2020 at 4:27 pm #59112Nil, imagine this Liverpool team with a young Gerrard in it.
I’m sure that though crosses Stevie G’s mind some times and he thinks if only he was a player who deserved to be a PL Champion shame it didn’t happen for him especially as it looked like it would.
Nobody will probably enjoy this Liverpool title win more than Stevie G though.
